As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

FIRST SOLO TRIP TO WDW *** UPDATED 03/06*** Day 6 : August 6th Happy birthday to me and Eride!
Hello everybody!
Heres my wonderful trip report. I was in WDW for the 6th time from August 1st to August 8th. Even if it wasnt my first time in the magical world of Disney, it was like a first time to me because I was there all by myself, without Mom and Dad around me. I decided to go to WDW to celebrate my 25th birthday and my first high-school teaching year (yeah, Ive survived to it! ) So heres my trip report as I think I should do it
Hope youll enjoy it as much as I do
DAY 1 : August 1st Leaving Mom and Dad is harder that I thought!
If you dont know, I come from Montrιal, Quιbec, so I had to take my plane at Dorval airport (well, its now called Pierre-Elliot Trudeaus Airport). My flight was at 8.00 am so I had to wake-up at 3.30
I though that it would be very hard to do so, but at 3.15, I was awake, with my eyes wide open in bed! I supposed that my parents were still sleeping, but they were as wake as I was! So, we headed to the airport and I thought that they would be able to come with me until I board into the plane
Big, big mistake from me! When I realized that I had to leave my parents just after the counter, tears came into my eyes and I was like Not yet!!!. So, I ended up crying in front of dozen of happy kids going to WDW
They didnt seem to understand why the grown-up lady I am was crying
I finally stopped crying when I remembered that I was going to mek the trip of my young life! While I was waiting in the waiting area, I met some really happy kids and I chatted with them and their families. We finally boarded into the plane and the flight was perfect. We arrived at Orlando at 11.00 am and I guess that everything was going fine, because by noon, I was already in the Mearss bus that was taking me to the All-Star Music!
I was in the All Star Music lobby by 1.00 pm and I was wondering if they would let me go to my room or if I would have to wait for the check-in time. Well, the luck was still with me because there was absolutely no line at all and they gave me my room! The only problem I had what with the CM who was a bit
I would say not very enthusiasms (dont know how to say it) with the idea of seeing me alone there! I still dont understand why
So they gave me the room 2647 in the Jazz section. I was very happy with that room! I had an HUGE king-size bed and even a fridge! I took off my clothes of my luggage and I try to make this room feel a little bit more like home! I went to eat lunch and I called
home! They were very happy to see that I was fine!
I went to Animal Kingdom because I had to exchange my voucher for a 5 day Park-Hopper Plus ticket. There again, the CM wasnt really nice to me because I was having some problems with my English
You know, I didnt really care because I was in Disney! So I went shopping a little and I bought some postcards. I chatted with the bus driver who was really nice to me and I went back to the hotel room to take some sun! I NEVER went to Florida in August
So, I was kind of confused because there was not really a sun
After 30 minutes of swimming I had to get off the pool because it was raining. So I went back to my room, trying to understand what are the American channels (it took me like 15 minutes to understand that there were local and national channels
) and Steve, at the Weather Channel, told me that there was a Tropical storm coming to Florida. Yeah! Im used to snow storm, Ice storm, but not Tropical storm!
I spend the rest of the day doing basically nothing! I slept, I ate dinner at the hotel (I really HATE this food court), I went to the hotel lobby a thousand time, I called home (again! ), I did some PS for the days to come. I just enjoyed the fact of being in Florida, at the happiest place on earth! Oh, and I listened to the new Disney TV show
Really I missed the zip a dee do dah

DAY 2 : August 2nd - What kind of weather is that ?????
DAY 2 : August 2nd - What kind of weather is that ?????
Mickey wake me at 6.15am (I really love that wake-up call thing) and I was so happy! But I realized that, even if I wanted really badly to use as much as I could the early morning, it was a little bit too soon! So I head up to the Animal Kingdom bus (it was the early morning there) and I was at Animal Kingdom at
7.15. Well, it gave me the time to see the trees
At 7.55, theylet us in, and Mickey, Pluto and Minnie were there, giving us some advices for the day. I thought that it was a good idea! I went to the Safari (well, I should say that Ive follow the whole crowd to the safari) and I really enjoyed it. After that, I did the Kali River Rapids (the thing is supposed to open at 9.30
But it finally opened around 10. What a lost of time!) and I was sooooo soaked! I couldnt believe it.
After that, I decided to walk around the Marja
Jungle Trek (you know what Im talking about) to see some tigers! I ended up at the Festival of the Lion King and I was like Yeah, this is a show where some puppets are singing pre-recorded song. Big mistake #2. This show is soooo awesome! I never saw anything like that. It was magical, it was perfect
I even felt in love with one of the performer! When I get out the park, I was very happy to see some Disneys character and I took some pictures with them.
Since the first time I went to WDW, we have a kind of family tradition. We spend half of the day at one park and the other half at another one. So I decided that it was time for me to go back to the hotel and to take my lunch. I went back to my room and I find it already clean! I was very happy with that. I went to the food court and I ate a kind of sandwich. I had in my mind to spend a good part of the afternoon at the pool, but the Florida weather being what it is, I was able to stay under the sun for 45 minutes before some showers started. Really, I have some problems with the August weather. Im used to go in Florida in May
So its usually very sunny
I was king of disappointed even if a lot of people on these boards have warned me!
At about 3.30, I decided that it was time for me to go back in the parks, but I couldnt choose between Magic Kingdom and Epcot. So I sat on the bench in front of the hotel and I decided to take the first bus that will show.
The first one was Epcot. So I went to my lovely Spaceship Earth ( I truly love this place since Im a kid) and I was very happy to see some computers at Innoventions that were sending pictures home!! After that, I went to Imagination ( which, by the way, is getting worst and worst at every time Im going to WDW) and I met a really nice CM with whom I talked a lot. He even took a picture of me and Figment (Im dreaming of the day when I will see a real Figment walking at Epcot!). After that, I walked all the way to the world showcase. I was planning to stay for Illuminations, but I was getting pretty much tired, so I went back to the hotel. BUT, I stopped by Mouse Gear. Big mistake #3. My god, I wanted to buy everything, but with the Canadian money value, its kind of impossible! So I bought myself a new friend, a little Stitch Bean. I love it so much and it became my friend for the whole trip (its not because youre traveling alone that you dont need to talk to someone! ). I realized that its crazy how much you walk in one day at Disney! When I was back at the hotel, I called home (yeah, again!). I know that it was hard for my parents to see me so far away. I listened to the Weather channel and I realized that everyday was going to be rainy
But I was happy to see that Alex was supposed to remain a tropical storm. I went to sleep pretty much happy of my day.
