As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Krispy Kremes is coming!
OK, I've heard a lot of good things about Krispy Kremes and now they're opening up their first UK store in London at the start of next month. Hmmmm... I think I may hae to sample it to see if it's as good as you tell me it is!

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
Yay for you! After bashing Kripy Kreme for quite a while and just generally *not getting it* I finally came around. I had my first HOT Krispy Kreme and it made all the difference in the world. YUM!

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
Since the only ones I believe they serve HOT (look for the sign flashing "Now Serving HOT") are the plain glazed, you definitely have to get a few!!! They are SO good!!!
I find those darn things to be like Lay's Potato chips . . . I can't eat just one!!! When they're hot, you have to eat a couple!!! The good thing is, that even though they aren't fresh the next day, if you wrap each one in a paper towel or napkin and put it in the microwave to heat it up for about 7-10 seconds, they're just as good as if they were fresh!!! Just don't over-heat them, or else they get hard as rocks!!!
There is only one Krispy Kreme store here in Pensacola, but I will drive to get hot ones sometimes!!! Otherwise, I try to get to the store first thing in the morning because they sell fresh KK doughnuts at the grocery stores.

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
I'm going to guess that you will like them.
When I was a kid, my parents took us on vacation to Garden City, South Carolina. (It's a beach resort near the famed Myrtle Beach resort area.)
There was a Krispy Kreme bakery down the street from our rental house. The BIG kind that was not a retail store but rather the kind that distributes the boxes of donuts to retail stores ... fresh. They would start frying the donuts in the wee hours of the morning and you could hear the trucks rolling out with their booty going right by our house. (I still remember the trucks over 30 years later ... green and white with red Krispy Kreme lettering on the sides.)
It was too much for my father to bear one morning. He actually went out to the road and flagged down one of the trucks. The driver actually had a stack of boxes of a dozen glazed donuts right next to him and sold my dad (and I would guess multiple other individuals along his route) a box. They were still warm!
We were a family of five. A dozen Krispy Kremes disappeared quickly at our house throughout the day.
Daddy would stand out next to the road every morning we were there and get our morning "fix" for these donuts ... catching the same man each day.
He decided to try it again the next year and sure enough, the same man would happen along with another hot/fresh lot for us.
Krispy Kremes are very light and the almost melt like cotton candy in your mouth. Oh Man are they ever good!
Oh great, now I'm !!!
Enjoy!

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
We don't have a Krispy Kreme around here. Just as well, cause I think it would be very dangerous for my diet!

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
Yikes! I hope you aren't dieting cause they are irresistible!! In college I took a physical fitness course that was pretty much running. Well, I would run to KK and eat 3 donuts and walk back to the campus . No one ever knew!

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
I drive past our big Krispy Kreme store (the one Sarah/Dopeygirl uses sometimes) every morning. ARGH...it is so hard not to stop, especially when the "hot doughnuts" sign is flashing and I can smell the sugar in the air (esp hard when the top is down!).
Cheryl, I don't really like plain glazed doughnuts, but hot doughnuts now are hard to beat! My secret is to always be running late so I can't stop. It's worked for the most part for 3 years

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
Cheryl,
I will be the odd man here. I like the donuts, but I must watch the sugar and fat, and they definitely have more sugar and fat. I agree, the hot donuts taste very good, but I enjoy lighter donuts a little more.
That being said, I would love to be a franchisee since most stores are very lucrative.

Enjoy Cheryl! I personally like them cold when the glaze is hardened up.

Enjoy them Cheryl (but be prepared for long lines )
I've only had them a few times, as no stores are close enough to our house. Not bad

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
I've never tried Krispy Kremes from the sounds of it I don't think it would be a good idea to try them, I might end up liking them too much .

Re: Krispy Kremes is coming!
Cheryl, RUN, do not walk, as far away from London and those evil donuts as your legs will carry you. I love these things and contemplate moving closer to a store so I can have the hot ones more often.
