As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Your Disney World
Time for some more "getting to know you" questions - this time on everyone's favourite topic:
How many times have you visited Disney World?
How many days in total have you spent there?
Which was your best trip?
What’s your best Disney memory?
My answers:
How many times have you visited Disney World? I've been seven times now.
How many days in total have you spent there? 71 days I believe.
Which was your best trip? That is tough - a very close call between our most recent one and my 30th birthday trip in December 2002. Both were magical.
What’s your best Disney memory? There are so many to pick from, but I guess it still has to be my 30th birthday, when my parents arranged to have Eeyore come out to see me and give me a cake and present and sing "happy birthday" to me.

Re: Your Disney World
How many times have you visited Disney World? I have been 9 times now and am coming up on my 10th trip this fall!!!
How many days in total have you spent there? by estimated count, so far, a total of 45-50 days over the course of 8 years. (not counting any of my 3 Disneyland trips totalling about 12-13 days!!!)
Which was your best trip? My last trip in December.
What’s your best Disney memory? It was our last trip (December 2003). It was the first time our DD, Emilie, had ever been to WDW. She was 2 1/2 at the time. What made the whole trip for me was seeing her face and hear her yell about "Mickey's House" and "Diss-y Wuld" the first time we walked into MK . . . that was just the best!!! Plus, the fact that it was Christmas time and my family came from all the way across the US to meet us there for the holidays was awesome . . . I had a smile across my face much like that of Jack Nicholson's Joker in "Batman" . . . and it wasn't going away!!!

How many days in total have you spent there? no idea! Let me try to think.. probably 72 or more
Which was your best trip? Probably our february 2001 trip.. it was a spur of the moment trip with lots of relaxation.
What’s your best Disney memory? so many.. DS, 1-1/2YO at the time running up to Mickey screaming "geeku" (his word for Mickey), same son, same trip being hugged & kissed by Minnie, other son being totally embarassed at WCC on his 11th birthday. Both myself & DS being picked on the hot seat in Millionaire. gosh I could probably go on & on... I've got such great memories of this wonderful place..

Re: Your Disney World
How many times have you visited Disney World? 9 times
How many days in total have you spent there? Gosh, it's hard to remember since many were from when I was little. I'll say 70 days total.
Which was your best trip? I'll say when I was a kid in 1981. It was our first trip onsite and we stayed at the Poly. But also our recent trip in May 2004 was definitely the best by far with my children
What’s your best Disney memory? Don't really remember too much from my trips as a kid. I'll say this past May with Alexa getting all of her birthday celebrations at the restaurants, and staying at AKL, and Alexa finally taking pictures the characters

How many times have you visited Disney World? Three times but only the two with DH really count in my book
How many days in total have you spent there? 29 days
Which was your best trip? It's a tie between our honeymoon trip last year and the trip we just returned from.
What’s your best Disney memory? Just two many to pick from!

Re: Your Disney World
How many times have you visited Disney World? 7
How many days in total have you spent there? 34
Which was your best trip? This one is hard. 1999, we had a "mini" family reunion (me, DW, Oldest son with his wife and daughter, my sister with her husband and 2 teenagers, and my mom). Watching my granddaughter (@ 2 1/2) experience WDW was really special. In 2000 it was the first trip (of many) for just me and DW, another special time. In 2003, we met up with friends who live in NY that we hadn't seen in a while, that was a blast... To many good trips to have "one" best.
What’s your best Disney memory? Watching loved ones really getting the spirit of Disney. Like watching my granddaughter experience Disney for the first time, and run from Mickey, or watching my mom watch her great granddaughter, or watching DW really getting into any of the fireworks shows... Then there's the thrill of the "firt ride"!!

How many days in total have you spent there? 30 (I think)
Which was your best trip? This past trip in October - it was my kids first trip, my parents second since they took us when I was @ 7, and my friends and their kids were there too - the kids just LOVED it, my parents couldn't believe how it had changed (and they loved it too) and we got an awesome deal with the FairyTale Package
What’s your best Disney memory? I think just seeing the kids faces when we walked into the MK for the first time - I think they were in awe and I know Main Street had never looked so beautiful to me

Re: Your Disney World
How many times have you visited Disney World? I've been there 6 times since 1981.
How many days in total have you spent there? I don't remember exactly, but I'd say about 21 days total.
Which was your best trip? In '02, when it was just DH and I, and we stayed at the Poly.
What’s your best Disney memory? It's hard to pick just one! I'd say seeing the MK for the first time on my honeymoon.

Re: Your Disney World
How many times have you visited Disney World?
I'm actually not sure.. probably 6, only 3 I really remember, though.
How many days in total have you spent there?
That I remember, 15
Which was your best trip?
November 2002, for sure. DFiance and I spent a whole romantic week there.
What’s your best Disney memory?
Watching Fantasmic with DFiance (his favorite show) or walking into AK for the first time (it was also the first park we went to in November).

Re: Your Disney World
How many times have you visited Disney World? Four, with three more trips in the planning stages - December, March, and July.
How many days in total have you spent there? 19 - unless DTD counts, then the total is 21
Which was your best trip? Oooohhh, that's a tough one...Either my very first trip (in 1989), or Mom's first trip (in 2003)...probably the latter.
What’s your best Disney memory? Don't know, there are so many!!! Maybe being in Epcot on Christmas Day 1989, and repeating over and over "We're in Disney World!" (a long-time dream come true). Or watching Mom see her first costumed character (Dopey) and being won over to the Disney experience (prior to that, she'd kept saying that we were nuts to be so crazy about WDW, that it was just for kids...Meeting Dopey changed her mind. That was so Magical!). Those are just two of the "best" that I have.
