Hi all, would love some feedback about the hotel royal plaza. I've now booked on-site (contemporary) and off-site.
We have older kids a boy and a girl so I need 3 different beds for us to sleep in. The contemporary seemed like a good choice for the $, but now the royal plaza seems like a really good deal and it sleeps 5.

Any advice out there?

We stayed in the Hotel Royal Plaza for one night in December. I would suggest you book a tower room, they seem to be in much better shape than the wings. The price is very good. However, our room didn't sleep 5. It had two double beds and a sitting area and a nice large bathroom. If it were to sleep 5, they would have to bring in a roll-away which would take up a lot of room. I imagine there might be some rooms that have a different configuration, but I wonder.

There was a long thread about the Hotel Royal Plaza started in early December that you might search for and read with lots of different opinions in it.

I have not stayed at the Contemporary, but would like to some day. We have always stayed on site (except that one night at HRP) and for us that is the way to go. There is another less expensive option for 5 on site you might look at too... Port Orleans Riverside (Alligator bayou section).

I just booked the HRP for our first night offsite. I used the link on Mousesavers for $69 for a tower room. Woo hoo

I just booked the HRP for the $69.00 rate too. We are doing WDW July 6-19 and are driving. We are now planning on leaving sometime July 3rd, and take our time getting there. The two days should do it, but it will be easier to find a room somewhere on the 4th on the road that at disney. This way I get to try the HRP for a great rate, and if its less than I liked, its only one night. The rooms are listed as sleeping 5, two beds and a single sleeper.

Well, maybe that little couch in the sitting area pulls out to a bed? Didn't even think to check it when we were there. -HiddenMickey

Thanks for the info. I still am not sure about staying there. I checked tripadvisor.com and there were mixed reviews. It seems like the poolside rooms are in need of some care and the tower rooms are better. Lots of comments like great value, great for the price we got. I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for when I go away to Disney. This is a big vacation for us. I don't want to go somewhere just b/c it's a good deal, know what I mean? I do that alot the rest of the time we go away (which isn't so often).

Anxiously waiting to see if I can get a deal with an annual pass. That's what I really want!

too many choices! There are so many other options off site that are really nice and luxurious. If I had 2 small children, I would stay at a moderate in a flash - that's the rate I'm comfortable with (going in June). But the sleeping arrangements stink for 2 older children. A value resort is just not an option. It is too 'bare bones' for us. (It doesn't have a jacuzzi anywhere on site! and my aching bones need one after a long day).

Anyway, sorry this is so long. just me rambling. I actually love all this planning and it's part of the fun for me.

We stayed in a poolside room in July. We had 2 queen beds and a small sofa bed that would sleep one, so it worked for our family of 5. Our only complaint with the room was that the a/c was not very cold. And there was some noice coming from the pool. But it was nice to walk out of our room to the pool area. I think I would go for the upgrade to a tower room, and it would be a great deal!
