As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Pixie Chicks - 1/13/04
I'm trying to find the pixie chick wagon this morning so I can climb on, but where is everybody? So I guess I will get things started today.
I felt so miserable yesterday, just so tired and lethargic. I layed in the bed last night and decided I am definitely getting back on track starting today! I didn't wake up in time to get on the treadmill, but I did fill up my water bottle first thing this a.m., and I've almost finished my first bottle (32 oz.). I haven't been drinking my water, and I can tell it. For one thing, my skin is really dryed out. And I just feel UGH! Do you know what I mean?
So this morning I bit the bullet and did the one thing I was really dreading, I got on the scale . So I found out I have gained about 10 pounds since before Thanksgiving!
I am also debating about buying the South Beach Diet book. I checked into doing it online, but it is about $60, so I know I can buy the book cheaper than that. I think it might jump start my diet.
If you have any available pixie dust, please send it to DH and me. He really needs to get serious about his diet. He is on BP meds and one of the side effects is that it makes him gain weight and makes it very hard to lose any weight. We both need to be serious and change our lifestyles. I always appreciate everyone's support here!!
Have a good day!!!!!!

Re: Pixie Chicks - 1/13/04
Michelle, here's some for you and your DH. Sounds to me like you reached the level of disgust with yourself that I had to reach just after Christmas to get back on the Pixie Wagon! I made the mistake of looking at myself in a full length mirror and wondering where that healthier-looking woman I was last summer had disappeared to.
I seem to be sitting at a plateau right now. I'm down a grand total of 6½ pounds at the beginning of Day 7. Sure a lot of that's water weight, but it's still no longer in my body! I'm becoming concerned though. I have kept track of WW points throughout this introductory period on South Beach and I cannot eat enough points. After 6 days, I'm 23 points short, not including the 30 Flex Points I could have eaten. That adds up to over 2500 calories that I haven't eaten this week that WW would have allowed me to. I'm wondering if this is why I'm plateaued -- my body is entering starvation mode and conserving all the fat it can. The positive to this diet though is that I'm no longer craving sugar and yesterday I didn't even crave any bread products. Breads have been the one things I've really, really missed up to now.
I'm going to keep going for at least another day anyway and see how my body is reacting.

Re: Pixie Chicks - 1/13/04
hey Michelle, drinking the water is a great beginning. I hate having to use the bathroom 5-6 x a day at work, but oh well. Hehe.
Donna - Starvation mode....scary. Be sure to let us know if you decide to stick w/ the SBD or not.
Well I am quite happy with Dr. Phil's "diet" except for all the dishes!!! OMgosh, I think I will be running the dishwasher every day. This morning alone, I had turkey sausage (plate & fork), coffee (glass and spoon to mix in the sweetener), cooked oat bran (bowl, spoon) and a 1/2 grapefuit (bowl & spoon) Goodness gracious. And that's just 1 meal!!
Today for lunch I had a huge salad with olive oil/vinegar. I tried the mixture after I made it and it was really blah. But actually over the salad it was quite tasty. Snacks were a banana smoothie (YUM! just milk and banana - not even any sweetener) and yogurt later. Dinner is salmon, cooked carrots and steamed broccoli. Not big on the seafood, but I'm gonna try it. Let ya know tomorrow. Oddly, I'm feeling healthier already.
I am so happy the Pixie Wagon is up and running again I'm not big on journaling, but I figured out this may be a way of journaling for me. Thanks, guys

Re: Pixie Chicks - 1/13/04
Hi Everybody!
Today's workout was with the Steve Miller Band! I think most of us here are around the same age, so you probably remember "Jungle Love", "Jet Airliner", "Swingtown", and "Fly Like An Eagle". Who knew that just listening to music while you're on the treadmill could make such a difference!
Michelle, I know exactly how you feel, cause I was the same way up until about a week ago. My jeans were so uncomfortable that I was walking around the house with the button undone on them underneath my shirt....and that was before Christmas. But I still didn't want to get back on track cause I wanted to enjoy the holidays first. So by the time New Years was past I was wearing a size bigger in jeans! Not a good sign!! And even after New Year's Day, since it fell on a Thursday, I decided to live it up just one more weekend! I knew that if I didn't do something really quick that I was in big trouble. I've been there before. But I knew that there was no way that I was going to keep throwing away all my hard work, so I set a new goal, and I woke up on Monday morning knowing that this was going to be the day that I got back on track....and I mean ON TRACK!!!! You can do it, you KNOW you can!! It's even better that you and your DH can do this together. I live in a house with 2 grown men who have the metabolism that enables them to eat whatever they want and never gain any weight. They both know how hard it is for me, so they are pretty supportive. DS(21) was the one who bought me the Discman for Christmas so that I could listen to it while I worked out, and you all know how much I enjoy it! You and your DH need to sit down and figure out what your goals are, as in: How much do you want to loose, and when do you want to have it off by. Don't set unrealistic goals either. Give yourselves plenty of time. If it helps, set an ultimate goal for the two of you that after you loose your weight, you will treat yourselves to a weekend away, or a special purchase, something that you both will enjoy. You'll have more enthusiasm towards your goal. That's what really helped me to reach my goal...I wanted to loose my weight by my 40th birthday, plus we were going to WDW a couple months after that. So I had 2 really good goals that kept me on track.
Now I just have to learn how to stay on track and to keep myself motivated so that I end this yo-yo dieting. I can do it, I can do it, I CAN DO IT!!!!
Remember....strength in numbers Pixies!!! We can ALL do it!!!

Michelle, megapixie dust to you and your husband. I know only too well how tough it is to get started AND stay motivated. We all need to adopt a healthier lifestyle. I wish you both lots of success!! Isn't it great to be able to come in here? The support is so heartwarming.
