As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I've never personally bought any type of lottery ticket before, but decided to buy one last week...which got me nothing. I broke down and bought two more since I'm superstitious. Plus we all bought one at my office.
I haven't bought any and am not even sure how to play Powerball. My kids call government lotteries and such as taxation for the mathematically challenged.

What the heck, it's entertainment and fun to discuss how you'd spend it! We're super at math in our family and know the odds are long...but it is cheaper than going to a movie.
I hadn't bought any in years, but I bought 10 last week and DS15 persuaded his dad to buy 5. I need to run out and get some more today--promised our son I would. He wants to know what kind of car we'd buy him if we won!
None here... I suspect I'm not allowed to - at least that's the case here, if you're not a UK resident, you can play, but you won't get your hands on any winnings.
I bought one and joined in one at school. I know we have next to no chance of winning but if we did, the first two things I would do are pay off the house and book a trip to Disney - and not necessarily in that order . As for the rest, I really have no idea. I already have a new to me car and Lenny likes his van and wants to keep it so I don't know. I'm sure my mother would have plans for any money I won
Bought 5 last week and out of 30 individual numbers, I got only ONE. Still will pick up another 5 when I go out this evening. First thing I would do would be to call an investment adviser who has a lawyer on staff. First place money would go would be to our church. The main building and most of the educational wing were destroyed in a fire last July. Due to insurance negotiations, we have not done anything toward pulling the walls down or starting to rebuild. The kind of money would jump start the new construction. Second would be to pay off the house and finish the renovation we have started. Next would be a visit to WDW and Golden Oak. Dreaming is such FUN!!!!!

I bought 7 the other night, but I may stop on my way home and get some more if the line isn't too long. I figure even if you don't win the whole thing, the prize is so high that the chances of winning a decent amount with a partial match is still pretty good.
If we won the whole thing though...first we would get a tax lawyer...then we would pay off our student loans and other debts. We would buy ourselves a home (we are in the process of looking anyway), pay off my parents mortgage, and probably work with my DH's parents to find them a house to own (instead of renting).
Beyond that, I think I would continue to work. DH could start to build his own company like he has always wanted. We would do some investing, and start college funds for our kids.

If I won I would pay off my mortgage, book/plan multiple vacations including but not limited too Disney, buy new vehicles, do some home improvements, hire a house keeper/personal chef, give lots to charity, and set up trust funds for my kids when they turn 30.
So, I have great plans for the money. But odds are definitely not in my favor since I haven't bought a ticket -lol. I figure if it's meant to be I will just find the winning ticket lying on the street or something- lol.
Just one. They say your odds don't change much with more. I have had fun imagining what I'd do with the winnings. I'd be happy with 1 million, or 50K. No need to win the whole thing.

I bought 5 sets of numbers on Sunday afternoon, because the clerk at my local convenience store was begging customers to NOT come in tonight. Apparently last Saturday, there was a line out the door all night. Those people don't get paid enough, ever, but certainly not for this insanity.
Naturally, I won't win a thing, but if I did, I'd be debt-free, make sure my immediate family was debt-free, especially my mom. I'm sure I'd buy her the automobile of her choice, too. I'd set up a trust for my only child. Oh yes, I would NOT report for work tomorrow!
As you can see, I've thought about it. It's a nice way to pass a few minutes.
I have 5 tickets. DH has some too, not sure how many. Could be as many as 20.
We've been talking about all of the things we would do with the money. First I would consulting a financial advisor and tax attorney, but then I would call my fabulous travel agent Sara and book a whole bunch of vacations (cruises, ABD trips)!
I've never played Powerball before, but I bought 10 tickets today. It is my birthday, so I thought maybe some luck would come my way. Not so much though.
