As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I figured I could share a thought with my Passporter Family.
We are leaving for our 8 day/7 night trip to Disney World in 3.5 days and I am not excited about it at all. I have no idea what's wrong with me. I haven't thought about packing or anything.
I think the issue is, is that my best friend is going to be visiting from California in July and I'm more excited about that than about this trip.
I want to be excited for this trip but it's just not happening...I kind of feel bad about it.
Maybe when I start packing I will get more excited?
Sorry for the rambling thought...Just seems a little out of character for me. LOL

it is OK and normal in my opinion. Personally since we hit the 180 day mark and made reservations I'm no longer as excited about the trip. And now I'm worried about "anticipointment".
The excitement will come and you will have a great trip and make great memories. Just relax and enjoy what ever happens.
Also being more excited about a person coming to see you seems very exciting. That is a much more personal joy than any trip.

I had a very similar feeling before my April trip. I know I lose excitement when I think about all the work I need to go before I can leave and what will be waiting when I get back.
I do not think you need to feel excited about a trip. Just go and enjoy the time with your family/friends.
I have had the same feeling right before some of my trips as well. Once you get there, it comes right back. I think some of the fun planning is done and the more chore-like items remain. Have a wonderful time and also have a great time in July with your friend!
That happens to me too. I think with all the work that goes into the planning, it just wore me out and the closer to the time we got, I just was thinking I could not wait for the trip to be over. That was until...we got on the Magical Express! I then started to relax and we had a really good time. I hope you have a fantastic time!
Perfectly normal - it happens to me too. With only a few days to go the "mandatory" stuff (laundry, bills, things that need to be done) has to come first, not the "fun" stuff (planning, anticipating, etc). And no matter how much someone may try to convince me otherwise, packing for vacation is not fun, it is a lot of work. The excitement will come back - it'll probably be last minute, but it'll come.

I think it is perfectly normal. I know sometimes when I start thinking about all the things I need to do at home before leaving for vacation it can put a damper on the mood for the trip.
The past several trips I find that I'm not really excited the 2 or 3 weeks before, but by the time I need to pack, I feel the excitement building. for the excitement to kick in.
I too lose the excitement & anticipation starting about a month out as the list of things needing to be done seems to continually grow, no matter how many things I manage to cross off of it. It does come back but usually not until I'm at the airport & through security & then they bring their good friend relief with them.
I'm excited right now but I lose my excitement the closer I get to my vacation because I dread it being over & having to come back to reality. The trip takes forever to get here & is over before you know it..... So depressing.
Happens to me every time we go, along with the absolute certainty that something bad is going to happen. (Anxiety anyone??? ) You'll get your excitement back!
