"Take me out to the ballgame!" Talking MLB Baseball - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

"Take me out to the ballgame!" Talking MLB Baseball
I am so thrilled by how well my Yankees are doing thus far. And I thought this would be a rebuilding year with little success!
ARod is closing in on some long-held hitting records. I'm pleased despite not quite having forgiven him for the Biogenesis scandal. He is a heckuva good player to have come back at his age after an entire season out and be hitting really well again.
Really sorry to learn that Chase Whitley had to have Tommy John surgery and will be out into next season. He was a bullpen asset that the Yanks needed this year. Oh, well. Nothing to do but hope that he comes back with his arm stronger than before as often occurs after Tommy John, I hear.
How's the season shaping up from your standpoint? Let's talk baseball!

The Red Sox are having an up and down year. Last nights game was the perfect example of that when they let the opponent score multiple runs in one inning and wind up losing the game.
Oh well, it gives me a reason to yell at the TV.

Dot, are you being serious? Aren't the Yankees 1-9 in their last 10 games? They went from 4 games up to 2 games behind the Rays. Their season may turn around, but for the Orioles's sake, I hope not!
Nevertheless, the Yanks are still in second place in the AL East, 2 games behind Tampa.
And (AHEM!), 2-1/2 games ahead of this obscure Boston team with funny-colored socks. (Sorry, manticorjenn. Couldn't resist raising the longstanding rivalry. heh heh)
Okay, I'll concede that the Yanks are in second place largely because everybody lower in the rankings is pretty much sucking eggs. The Yankees have been blown out of the water by the Rangers just lately.
But, we all know things can have changed a LOT by September.

Well, we will just have to see what happens the rest of the season. If it is like I hope, we will both be in the playoffs and Boston will eek it out in the end.

I don't have much to add except I will be watching the Yankees vs Mets at Citifield in September!!! I love going to any ball park however this trip had so little time in NY I just wanted to do the Crown tour of Liberty and I lost out in our family vote...I did win that we spend the morning in Central Park instead of shopping. Is anyone else going to this game?

Then there's me....the lowly Indian fan whose season started with such high hopes and prospect until the dreaded SI cover course...why would they put the Indians on the cover? Of course, the team seems to finally be gelling - our starting pitchers are in a grove and we've a 5 game winning streak right now.
It's always been said - "you can't win a pennant in May, but you can sure loose one"

Another Yankees fan here! I am happy with the season and was looking forward to A-Rod returning. Still have to look forward to Tanaka returning as well as Nova. Ellsbury is also on his way back. Very excited to see some of the young bombers coming up and contributing. Going down to Trenton on Sunday to see Aaron Judge and the Thunder play.
Gregorious is doing nicely although I definitely still miss my idol Jeter.
Did you two both sign the online petition for Yogi Berra to be awarded the Pres. Medal of Freedom? We sure did when the YES guys mentioned that 80,000 more signatures were needed. Well, after the site crash was fixed, we did.
When we heard the announcement, we both said almost together, "That'll crash the site for sure." And when DH tried just seconds thereafter, sure enough.

The Tigers started out strong but are really struggling now. They need to get healthy, we have a lot of players with nagging minor injuries. I won't worry until after the 60th loss . The experts say your team will win 60, lose 60, it 's what they do with the remaining games after that how the season ends
I LOVE this time of year! The Indians are playing on the west coast right now, so their games don't start until 10:10 my time. Last night, we lit a fire, put the game on through the blue tooth speaker and relaxed in the backyard. LOVE summer
Side note: It's awesome that the tribe have shaved their heads in solidarity with a player whose daughter has recently begun treatment for cancer. It would be great if the team would sell the "pink" jersey to support cancer research the way the Bengals did this past season.

"A woman suffered serious injuries after she was struck in the face by the shard from a broken bat that flew into the stands in front of horrified fans during the Red Sox game at Fenway Park on Friday night, officials said."
Not only did this poor woman suffer life-threatening head injuries, but her young son witnessed this terrible accident.
Yes, being struck by a flying chunk of a broken bat is unusual, but it is good reason not to be too relaxed and not paying attention to what is occurring on the field.
Be alert and aware when sitting in the lower deck near home plate, everyone.
