As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Another year has rolled around, and it's time again to set our goals for another reading challenge.
Last year I started with a goal of 30, which intimidated me. But being retired now, I was able to meet that goal by mid April, so I raised my goal to 70. In the end, I have read 66, but I don't feel defeated as they most I had read any year before that was 15.
For this year's goal, I'm going to try to reach that 70 books.
I'll set my goal at 60 again. Already started my first last night.
I'd once again like to suggest that people try joining Goodreads to keep track of their books and look for ideas for new ones. I love that site.
I totally agree. Goodreads keeps me on track and has reminded me several times that I've already read a book. I love reading the reviews to help decide what to read next and then there are the recommendations based on my own reviews.
I reached my goal of 35 by reading 4 short quick reads on New Years Eve. But I really want to challenge myself to read more this year and am going to set my goal at 45. I got tied up this last year on the 2nd Game of Thrones book, I will continue the series so I hope that doesn't slow me down.
I had a goal of 40 last year. I only reached 26. I think this year I will set my goal at 30. Oh, I am setting a goal of reading this board more frequently to get ideas and cheer everyone on.

Last yr I only red 42/50 in my goal, which I think was due to losing a lot of time during my travels this summer. I just don't read much on vacation...to busy doing other things I guess. Anyway, more trips are planned for this summer, so this year I think I'm gonna put my goal at 45 books.

#1/70 -- I had started the book on Monday, December 29, but didn't finish until 11:30 on January 1, so this is my first book completed toward my 2015 goal. One Imperfect Christmas by Myra Johnson. Very sweet Hallmarkesque Christmas story of loss, forgiveness, and love. Only complaint that some events seemed repetitive and unnecessarily drawn out.
Last year I hit 75/100, partly due to studying part-time (with oh-so-frequent assignment deadlines) alongside working full-time, partly due to having a new and clingy dog always wanting to be played with or to sit on me and partly due to doing NaNoWriMo in November.
This year I'm not studying (well, nothing paid-for that I need to give 100% to, anyway), the dog is a lot more settled, and I may or may not do NaNo, so I could possibly reach 100 books if I put my mind to it. But I am planning on doing a lot more running as I really need to get on top of general health/fitness stuff. Much as reading is my passion, it's going to have to come second to fitness when it comes to deciding how to spend my time. Well, when the weather's nice anyway!
As such, given that 100 books a year is 8.3 per month, my 2015 target will be 84 - 7 books a month. A waffly explanation I know, but if I state it in writing it's more likely to happen!

You know Tinkerboo, if you listen to audio books while you exercise, those would count toward your goal.
Good idea, though I do tend to lose focus on audio books unless I concentrate REALLY hard...which might clash with the huge amount of concentration required to keep me upright on a treadmill! [emoji33]

I didn't reach my goal of 50 last year - only 40. BUT, it's 40 books read in 1 year! I am very proud and of reading that many.
This year, I will set my sights a little lower and if I go over, even better for me!
So.... Let's try for 35.
