Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So I have to break the silence. How's everyone doing?
I have one more group training tomorrow until the monumental marathon, and I did a speed session last night with Mark, one of my team in training coaches. Our season is over in 8 days, and I don't know what I am going to do!
I am counting down until I can sign up for GSC 2016!

Seriously, when my season ended after my last race I was not a pleasant person to be around for about a week. The directions from my coach were to just move for 30 minutes every day. I could do anything I wanted but it could only be for 30 minutes. It was horrible! After a week of that nonsense my time limit became 45 minutes.

Now I am in maintenance mode - I'm doing strength workouts in my swims and on the bike. Do you know how bad your arms hurt after swimmimg with your kegs tied together with a rubberband for 2500 meters? I am not able to run more than 15-20 minutes at a time still so I'm doing that and hiking on the weekends.

Next month we add more time and I will be back to full training in mid-December!

Have a blast with training these next 8 days and then after the amazing race you are going to have just keep moving!

No plan on taking at least a week off of runnin after. Then I might see if coach Mark can hel me get faster. I really want to get a 25 minute (or less) 5k time by next spring. And I want a new PR in 10k in December.
Anyway, I'm taking today easy (speed workout yesterday & easy 4.5 miles tomorrow). And I'm reLly looking forward to crushing the marathon in 8 days and eating all of the food after. Did someone mention the Steak 'n Shake food truck at the finish line? I will be getting a milkshake for sure!

Hi everyone!

Yes Ive been very busy with training and working and other mom things it seems that the days are flying by! Its so much easier for me to check on Facebook to see how everyone is doing and work has banned this site and from what Im hearing more functions of the internet that my communication to the outside world while Im at work it getting thinner.

On a plus side, Ive accomplished a 17 mile run and I was informed last week that Ive made it into the second round of the Disney Mom Panel! I don't understand what happened honestly. People were being informed the week before and I found out last Friday and was told that I had to answer these questions and submit a video by Monday at noon! No pressure! Needless to say I didn't sleep much Friday night as I was thinking of what would be the most "Disney response" and harassing my daughter in Japan on how to make a video! Im not really the most tech savvy! But with about four hours of sleep I submitted my questions and video 24 hours later after the email. Whew! Now its just a wait and see if I get an email from a WDW rep to see if i made it to the next round!

Off to search the site to see if anyone else got into the Mom Panel! Have a great day everyone!

We're doing the Denver Gorilla Run - Fundraiser for MGCF Charity. Not quite sure how much running I will be doing while wearing a gorilla suit. Not to mention I'm not really running more than 20 minutes a few times a week.

I've been busy-ish myself....what have I been up to the last month or so...

Three biggest running related are that I ran my second marathon the 19th of October. Finished slightly faster than my last one, but I still have some GI issues to work out, as I got some pretty wicked stomach cramps around 30-32km in, which really took the wind out of my sails. Was on pace for about a 4:20 marathon, but ended up slowing right down, and ended up with a 4:53.

Second is I just bought a treadmill on Monday, so I don't have to do all my runs this winter outside. Pretty excited as well, as this way I won't be locked into the few available daylight hours I have, I'll be able to head downstairs any time I'd like...maybe even get some two-a-days in when the mood hits.

Biggest is one of the big reasons why I got the treadmill, as I got my official acceptance to the Boston Marathon last week! Pretty excited, and very lucky to have qualified and been accepted my first marathon out. Having a very lax time due to my disability sure helps as well :P but hey, accepted is accepted

So I've been taking it easy (pretty much off) of running the last three weeks since the marathon, had a couple runs in there, but mostly getting crap done around the house. Cleaned up/out the basement and did some painting so the downstairs is going to be a very inviting place for all those hours I'm going to be spending on the treadmill, but think next week I'll be getting back into the regular training schedule (and not just because that's when the treadmill comes hehe)

Tim - I just got a treadmill too! Used it for 1 week so far and it's great.

I should have used it on Monday. I ran outside instead since it was likely the last nice weather day for quite some time. And proceeded to roll my ankle on a sidewalk edge into the grass. But like an idiot, I kept running on it. 5 miles later, I forgot all about it - didn't hurt! But 5 hours later - whoa! I could barely walk on it by Monday evening. R.I.C.E. and 2 days rest and it feels better, but can still feel where it's sore. And there's slight bruising too, right under the ankle bone and into the foot a bit. Looks like I'll be taking it easy a few more days.
