As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). It is an easy out to blame Photobucket for the sizing problems with our photo uploads to the boards. I know we were all a bit miffed when Photobucket upgraded, and honestly for awhile there, glitches were the norm as they were so common. Even though Photobucket has retained most of its features, many of us just don't know where to find them.
One feature that most everyone missed during the upgrade was the ability to preset the upload size of photos. Many of us went in search of programs that would allow us to resize photos before uploading to Photobucket. One night while messing around on Photobucket, I discovered that this feature was NOT missing after all. It was just tucked away where I hadn't noticed it previously among all the other new gadgets and gizmos of the site.
Once I found this little gem, I have had no problem getting my photos to the required 640 x 480 size needed here on the boards. And one of the best things to know is that once you set it, it won't change unless you change it. So once you've made this your setting for photo uploads sizes , it will work every time you upload photos.
I'm a visual learner. So to help you see things, I have taken some screenshots of the steps to follow to set your photo upload size.
Step 1:
Open photobucket in your browser window and log in. At the very top of the website on the right is an orange rectangle for the Cart. Right beside that is your avatar for the site (e.g. mine is a photo of Stefanie). When I click or hover over that avatar, a drop down menu appears in black. Go to SETTINGS and click.
Step 2:
This will take you to your personal page. Right underneath the heading Personal Information are several tabs. For this task, you need the ALBUM tab. See photo below.
Step 3:
Click on the ALBUM tab. This is the screen that you should now be seeing.
Step 4:
Scroll down the ALBUM screen until you see UPLOAD OPTIONS. Then click on the blue CUSTOMIZE UPLOAD OPTIONS.
Step 5:
A smaller window will pop up at this point.
Notice you have 6 sizing options available. For trip reports our website guidelines call for photos to be no larger than 640 x 480. As you can see, that is the option that I have selected for all my photo uploads. Just a note Photobucket recommends the extremely large (and board inappropriate) size of 1,024 x 768. If you have not made your own selection, this may become the default size of your uploads and the cause for them appearing too large on our boards.
Once you've selected the 640 x 480 size, remember to select SAVE. And then you are done.
Since I have reset this option, I have never had it magically changed to anything else. My grumbles and frustrations with Photobucket, at least on this issue, have ceased. Hope this helps you, too!
Thanks, Cam! I had problems in the beginning, too, and was resizing before loading. Somehow, though, all my photos are loading at the proper size. I thought it was that after the "upgrade" they restored my previous settings, but I may have found your method by accident when grumbling my way around the site and made the necessary change without realizing it! At any rate, I'm glad to see that things are back to the way they were.

Thank you for sharing these directions! I have always used a Microsoft resizing tool to resize my photos before uploading to Photobucket. I don't have that tool anymore because of a computer upgrade, but it looks like this Photobucket resizer will do it for me.
