As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm not a fan of local parades and I don't usually go to fireworks because you have to park far away and do a ton of walking then fight your way back out of the area. And the fireworks are never as good as the ones at Disney. Plus dd asked to work tomorrow because you get time and a half for working on the holiday and she needs all the money she can get for school next year.

Our town stopped having a fireworks show about two years ago thanks to budget cuts. It's too bad because they put on a great show. The fireworks company that did them is just one town over and is the same company that does the big fireworks show in Boston. But, since I have to work that night, I don't mind not seeing the fireworks.
No parade in our town but we will be going to see fireworks. We live about 2 miles from Hersheypark and they always have a nice fireworks display so we'll watch them at a friend's house who has a perfect view of the Park and the fireworks.
Out town doesn't have either one. We used to have a fireworks display on the beach but the beach eroded too much and it wasn't safe anymore.
The neighbor city does have both but we won't be going. I have to work tomorrow and my daughter is camping.

No parade in our town.
Fireworks to be held at the football stadium on campus. You really have to be in the stadium to see them , as they don't shoot them off high enough for other areas to see them. I'm not sure that we'll go this year. I like the ones shown on TV (PBS, Macy's)
We don't have fireworks for the 4th in our city, because they do a huge Labor Day fireworks display downtown - the largest in the country, they say. We do have several neighbors who shoot them off illegally. I'll admit that last year I got really annoyed over it, because the residue gets all over everything in the neighborhood. I found "fireworks trash" in my gutters later on!
There's a big parade at midnight tonight in a town about 50 miles from us, but we have never been.

No parade. Our city has a fireworks show on July 4 and we used to be able to watch from our backyard, but they moved locations a couple of years ago. We won't be going this year because we are going to a cookout at my sister's house.
Well, Hurricane Arthur is going to be putting a damper on things around here. I don't usually bother with parades but I do like to go to fireworks if I can find some. I have to check all the reschedules to see if something will work out.
We don't have a parade on the fourth. Several years ago we bought a lake house and our lake association has been putting on a fireworks display at the lake for years. The people they hire to do it are very professional and do a great job. Best of all we don't have to leave our house to view!
There will be a parade here, but we will be joining my Dad, Sister and Niece at the American Legion Post in Palmer for a pig roast/bbq.
Fireworks here in the summer here just don't work....it's too light - but they still try to do them, but it's doubtful that we will go see them. Now, fireworks on New Year's....much better. But as others have mentioned.....Disney has ruined us for firework displays. The ones we get are pretty pitiful in comparison!
