As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Just got back from a week with our grandson for his 5th birthday. Not sure if anyone else has had problems but on two occasions his band fell off. Once when we were walking at the MK and once while we were walking around the resort. I really do not think he was playing with it in any way since when we were walking at the MK we were holding his other hand so he couldn't have been playing with it. We also always made sure it was on correctly and tested it after we put it on. One thing I think would help is if they would provide a rubber band/slider of some sort like on a watch band that holds your watch end. Just wondering if anyone else encountered this issue. It kinda made us constantly checking his wrist to see if he still had it on.

There are plenty of sliders available for purchase at any gift chop on property, along with lots of other bling. I'm sure you could find one that would help to keep the Magic Band secure. There are also cloth covers that cover the whole wristband. Perhaps putting one of them on and spinning it so it covers the snaps would work.
Not to put too fine a point on it, though, but he's 5. When I was 5, I couldn't wear a wristwatch; I fiddled with it so much, constantly taking it off and putting it on, often dropping it, that my parents were afraid I'd lose it and wound up taking it away from me.
Will has some good points. It's possible that, although he wasn't playing with it at the time it fell off, he might have been playing with it earlier and loosened it. Nevertheless, it is disconcerting that it would fall off and I understand your concerns. I don't have small children, but I haven't seen anyone else comment here about that problem. Good luck with finding a "fix" for it in the future. Oh, and congratulations on your new DVC purchase. That's awesome!
I'm sorry to hear your grandson lost his MB twice but when I read the title, I thought you meant you had trouble with it working for you. Yes, losing it is a pain - and it's definitely a good FYI for those travelling with young children with small wrists and hands - but it's not what I was expecting to read about.
Thankfully we didn't lose it as we were aware of it when it dropped. I wasn't even aware of the sliders available since I didn't even look at the MB accessory stands. I'm sure some of these suggestions will help. As a side note, he spent ALOT of time down the pirate ship slide at Storm Along Bay and DH and I would sit on the side watching him, he didn't lose his band there however we noticed two times were someone's bands came off in the water. One was a man and another was a teenager. Thanks for the info.
MY DH fell off once on or last trip and only in the pool at Blizzard beach, Mine never fell off the entire week. luckily we went to lost and found and someone handed it in.

I was concerned about that but our party of seven never had any trouble even in the pools. I think those cloth covers really helped the three of us that had them because it did make the band more comfortable and the tabs were out of reach under the cover to keep from fiddling with it. We did loose a refillable mug among other things but never a magic band.
Our DDs magicband fell off a couple times on our October trip too. In the heat your wrist can get sweaty and slippery. We had sliders but they slid around. Thankfully she was paranoid about losing it and noticed it fell both times

Did you separate the two pieces to make it smaller? My DS14 has such thin wrists, we did that to make his fit around his wrist. I probably could've done the same thing, but it just fit the way it came.
It is difficult to fasten the MBs on smaller wrists. I would help my wife and son get their MBs on because it was hard to wrap around their wrist tightly with one hand. I didn't have any problems but the band did not wrap around to the front of my wrist like my wife and son's did.
My son did find kids MB on the floor at the gift store at Epcot. We gave it to a CM there.
I've read a TR where someone wen to the Guest Services at one of the parks to express a concern about the possibilty of the Magic Band falling off. Guest Services gave them a slider to put on the Magic Band.
