As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I still have the pleasure of taking my mom to Mass every Sunday and then having coffee with her.....but as of a memory......my mom was the "neighborhood/friend/family" mom to everyone. Our home was always opened to everyone. We always were told just how lucky we were by friends.
I have so many fond memories that I find it hard to pick one - the wonderful letter she sent me after I left home and moved to university is probably one that stands out in my mind though.
My Mom would take my younger sister and I, and our grandma, out to eat for lunch at Woolworth's. This was back in the 70's. They only had 2 tables by the windows so it was always a treat to sit there and watch the people walking by, instead of at the counter. Sometimes they would have special balloons with little pieces of paper inside offering a treat like ice cream or pie. You picked the balloon and they would pop it. There was always the anticipation of the "pop" and then the little piece of paper flying out that we would try to catch.
My mom read to us like crazy. My sister and I were the first in the family to go to college (we also both got advanced degrees). One of my nicest memories about my mom was having her cousin Joanna say that my mother influenced her and her kids went on to get degrees because of that.

Mom loved her family. She was usually a willing participant in whatever fun scheme we happened to think up. This is perhaps best evidenced by a picture I have of her at Halloween when she was in her mid-90s - getting around slowly with a walker, she nevertheless donned a pirate costume and joined the family at a Halloween party, grinning the entire time because she got to see the people she so loved!

This will probably get some "awwwww"s, but it really is true. My mom isn't very outwardly affectionate, but I've been going through a personal trial (not a legal trial) recently, totally of someone else's making, and my mom has just been rock-solid in support of me. We don't hug much or say "I love you" much, but we stand for each other at all times. It is just understood that we always support each other. I think that is one of the greatest gifts my mom has given me - the firm conviction and strength to do whatever I can for my own child. We are strong, tough, resilient women who take care of our families.
Traveling across the country with her driving from Illinois to Seattle. We had one particular day, at Yellowstone. My mom is disabled, and she was very tired. She said to leave her in the car while I got out to see a particular site. It was a pain to get her wheelchair out at the time because it involved a ramp and it was heavy and bulky. I went and saw it and realized I couldn't leave her in the car. The sun was setting and it was God's paintbrush kind of thing. So, I went back to the van, set up the ramp and made her come with me. It was amazing. We had tears streaming down our faces as we saw the sun set that day, so glad for that moment and that memory.
I don't remember much of my childhood. And there is not one thing that stands out about my mother, she's such a big part of my life.
I guess I'd have to say when I think of my mother, what I think of more than anything is her love of WDW. And how much fun we have when mom, my sister, and I get together. Even when mom was in ICU for some heart issues, we sat in there and laughed and laughed and laughed until the nurses there told DSis and I we needed to leave or calm down. We left.
My mum is a fixer. She always makes it better from lovely thoughtful gifts to cups of sugar for the neighbours, she always has whatever you need in her handbag and enough time to listen to every problem. She never turned me away...
