As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I've always booked RT airfare in the past & now that I'm looking into airfare for this year I'm considering 1 way tickets for arrival & return flights.
What are the pros & cons of purchasing 1 ways?
Are the taxes higher on 1 way tickets?
Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Only reason why I'm considering is because return flights aren't open yet for Sept but I could book my arrival ticket to Disney in August.

For the trip I'm taking now I did two one way tickets because they came out over $50 cheaper, and that was including the tax and fees. The airlines and TSA didn't give my any problems coming out to Florida and I don't anticipate problems going home. IT just takes sitting down and seeing which comes out better price wise for you.
I booked one-way tickets down to MCO for the end of July a couple of weeks ago (Southwest Airlines). My return date hasn't opened up yet but the fare down was so good that I was afraid to wait lest the fare go up. And sure enough, it has.....by $17 per ticket so far and my return date still hasn't opened up. If you are flying SW, one RT fare is the same as 2 One-Way. That's how they price it out. Can't speak for other airlines.

The price I saw for the 1 way ticket on 1/1 was $138.89 & I've checked it a few days since & it's been holding at $168.89. Of course that's 1 way, per person.
I book one way as it's easier to get a credit should the price change. Course I'm a Southwest flier so that would not be as easy as other airlines that have change fees.
I just checked my flight again and it's up another $3. I paid $90 pp/1-way for a non-stop flight from Hartford to Orlando right after the New Year -my exact flight is $110 right now but it appears via the low fare calculator that there are still $90 flights available for the dates close to mine. I figured I couldn't beat $90. Now if I can get a good deal on the return flight, I'll be really happy .

Gosh I wish I could find tickets 90 dollars, that would be a great savings. Will have to go check in to see if our dates have opened up yet.
I was shocked to see them that low. That's why I had to buy them even though I can't yet buy my return trip. I can only travel on school vacations and I don't usually get the super low fares then.
I just booked one way from Tampa to Baltimore b/c of the flight to pick up our friends. Sending them back home via Philly. The only thing you have to put all the information in twice
Also waiting for flights from Philly to Orlando for our September trip. Should come out Feb 4th, but I keep looking
The only other down side I could see is double the cancel fees if I did have to cancel the trip. I haven't had to the past 4 yrs & last Aug I traveled just before the hurricane hit FL.

I had the same dilemma with our upcoming trip and ended up booking one ways each way. The pricing was not different for a one way or a round trip through SWA. So, if you find a good fare for a one way to MCO, I'd grab it now and worry about the Sept. flight when they release new dates.
