As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We absolutely love Sanaa. It is at Kidani Village (not Jambo house). It's a beautiful restaurant with views of the savannah. We saw giraffe, zebra and a really great tortoise right outside our window. The food is exceptional - a mix of Indian and African flavors. Though it is a bit off the beaten path if you are not staying at AK, we really found it worth the trip. Dinner is especially nice because you can head out to the overlook afterwords to see more animals and talk with the guides. There is also a very nice bar area for a drink before.
Sanaa is my most favorite and must do restaurant on every trip. I love to watch the animals on the Savanna.
The food and service has been excellent with every visit. For the most part, the menu is Indian with a variety of flavors and options. I always eat from the vegetarian menu (they have a separate menu with vegetarian choices) and have loved everything I have tried. DH usually has a steak and he has been very pleased. DS usually picks something from the tandoori oven and loves it. There is a standard kids meal available. We love the smoothies. We usually pick the sampler dessert so we can try lots of things. They are all delicious.
If you like Indian food, Sanaa will be a hit. If you are unsure of Indian food, there are several other options available from the menu (steak, chicken, shrimp...tankoori oven options). I have only had one meal that was "spicy" in the spicy-hot sense and the waiter warned me in advance. Generally, I opt to have the milder spices and they accomodate.
The naan is delicious (*not on dining plan....but worth it as an appetizer or with the entree). Making my mouth water right now...
I would definitely recommend trying Sanaa.

We just made an ADR here for our upcoming trip, so I was glad to see this question!
Our reservations are for 7:45 (in December) Will we be able to see the animals in the Savanna when it's dark?
You may not be able to see the animals after it is dark. There is a fire pit at the observation area and it is lit. So, you can visit with the CM's and learn about the animals and try to view. I would get there a bit earlier to view before you are seated.
Either way, it will be a unique experience.

It's a lovely restaurant and the service is great. My family loved our meal there. The menu is unique; a nice change of pace from your typical restaurant. Sadly, I had to have an "allergy plate" because I'm allergic to coconut and many of the foods either contain coconut or are cooked with coconut oil.
Sanaa is one of our must do's. Especially after the last time we didn';t have a good experience but noithing to do with the restaurant. We went after a long park day and the kids had been thirsty for ages, By the time we go seated they were past eating and all three of them just pushed food around there plates whereas my husband and myself were ready for a chilled night with a bottle of wine. We have made sure to book it for our next trip on a none park day so we can arrive refresehed and enjoy our time. the plus side is we will be staying at Kidani so no driving.
We tried it for the first time on our last trip. The service was great and the food was wonderful. We were a little nervous about it, but it turned out to be one of our favorite meals.
We ended up there by accident on our last trip, and I have to say it is now probably my favorite restaurant.... the food is delightful, the service excellent.
We were on deluxe plan for a couple days, so got the appetizer, entree AND dessert... and because of delay in our order, the Chef sent out the tomato soup so we wouldn't go hungry while we waited... OMGoodness, it was amazing!
