As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

My friend and I were at DTD last week and wanted to look into the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience for her granddaughter during our upcoming October trip. One mom we talked to mentioned that they had brought a princess dress with them and had planned on doing just the hair and make-up package. Well long story short the mom said she got "sucked into buying the whole package". My friend has already made a couple princess dresses for her granddaughter for our trip(she's a great seamstress ) and doesn't want to feel pushed into purchasing a dress when they are doing the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience. Anyone have experiences good or bad with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?
We've done it twice and both times brought our own dresses. Not once were we ever "pressured" into upgrading our package, in fact no one even mentioned it, so I'm not sure how that happened to the other mom.
I have never heard of anyone feeling pressure at BBB before. I know a lot of people who have broought their own dresses and I have never heard a complaint. Maybe it was her daughter that sucked her in and not the cast member? I would have the girls arrive in the dress already so they don't see all the dresses on the wall and want one.
We have brought our own twice and they didn't even offer us any of there items. We were even given a booth the change there like the ones that purchased there. No pressure at all, in fact it was the opposite. We wanted to purchase shoes and it was like it was a hassle to get her size!
We had our own home made tinkerbell dress and we were never pressured into buying anything we did not want. I think they went over our options but there was no pressure. Maybe the lady is an "easy sell" and got caught up in the moment and then had buyers remorse.
Another totally positive experience here. Daughters have done BBB several times, although admittedly not recently, and each time was a positive experience with no pressure whatsoever. Its always possible to get a CM whose a little overzealous but our experiences have always been nothing but great there.

I've never heard of any of those things before. My mom's friends had their daughter go to BBB and they said it was a great expierence for her and they all loved it!

I have never heard anyone mention feeling pressured into buying a dress. When my daughter was young I always had her wear her own dress and had never felt pressured into upgrading. My daughter is now 19 so it has been sometime since I have been to BBB but I can reassure you my girlfriend has taken her young daughter in 2010 and December 2011 and said she didn't have anyone ask her about doing more than make up and hair while she was there. First I ever have heard of such an incident..
We've also never been pressured to purchase a dress. We've taken out niece twice and both times brought outfits from home (once was a Cindy dress, the other we just brought a princess outfit.) I booked the coach package both times and they never even asked if I wanted to upgrade it.
GL! I wonder if perhaps the mom felt pressure from her child to buy the dress rather than the BBB CM's??

We bring our own dress for my daughter when we go and have never been pressured at all. The first time we went we did the entire package, but since then we have purchased our dress prior to going for my daughter.
Absolutely no pressure at all when we were there in November
As a matter of fact I even saw a family downgrade their package once they got to the check in podium wiryhout any trouble or pressure.
We have been there numerous times, one time we did go and we had planned on the castle package but the other times we always did just the hair, nails and makeup and we never had anyone pressure us to buy the dress...we even got tons of compliments on the dress we brought.

I took my little one in November 2011 and we didn't really have a plan one way or the other when we got there. I believe I had booked the middle package as it included the nails and my daughter loves having her nails done. She saw the Cinderella Dress and fell in love with it and when I say that it is putting it very lightly as she wears the thing every day. I did end up doing the Castle package but I asked to upgrade since she loved the dress so much. The whole thing came with shoes, another crown, wand, and a picture package. I know its a bit expensive and if she didn't wear her dress everyday on our next trip in April we would just do the hair and she'd wear her Cinderella dress but since she wears it all the time Grandma is getting her a new get up for her birthday.
I visited with a friend and his daughter and the CM spoke to the Dad first and asked him what he wanted that day, they did not ask the child. They got just the hair and nails option and they never even tried to sell him anything else. In fact, when Victoria pointed at a princess dress and said, "Oh Daddy, isn't that pretty!" the CM said to her, "It's not as pretty as the dress you're wearing."
