As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am excited. I just booked a trip to the Riviera Maya or Maya Riviera (whichever is the correct way to write it). We are still hoping to travel to the West Coast in the summer. Anyways, I got a good deal, so decided to go for it while we could. It is an all inclusive. Not going til April, so again like WDW, I am sitting here waiting for April to come I just dread a 5 hr non stop plane ride (many of you might remember that I don't like flying). Dh is even excited about it. The kids have no clue what to think. I hope we enjoy it.

I can't wait to read your TR for your trip! I've never been to Mexico (well aside from Tijuana, which I don't really count ), but pictures always look beautiful.
My DH and I are planning our trip to Czech Rep, Poland, and Germany next June. It seems sooooo far away! It's funny how everyone looks at things differently - I was all excited when we got our plane tickets, because it is "only" a 9 hr nonstop flight. (That seems really short compared to the 17 hr non-stop we took to South Africa in 2010!)

Wow, it seems like there are alot of interesting trips being planned!!!! I love planning!!! We still hope to go to Seattle etc, and with this one trip we just booked, we get 2-25% off of our plane fare in 2012, so that will keep us motivated to travel more. I just can't believe I booked a trip already, when I vowed I wouldn't LOL. We are taking off on a 2 night trip to Edmonton before the snow flies too and get some Christmas shopping done next wkend.

Anytime in an airplane is too long for me LOL. I am not a good flier. I try and I won't let it stop me but I am never ever relaxed and count down the min til we land. I want to learn to like it so I hope this helps me somewhat. Any tips are much appreciated. We will have our two kids with us and I wonder how they will do sitting that long

I wish I had some good tips, but to be honest, flying isn't my favorite thing either (unless the plane is ultra-smooth....fortunately the huge one we were on to South Africa was so smooth I couldn't even tell we were moving. I loved it). LOL I just force myself to endure it because I know I have to to see all the places I want to. Fortunately, I can sleep a LOT, so I usually just take dramamine (never had motion sickness issues, but it makes me tired and also seems to help with flight anxiety) and sleep as much as possible. That might not be too much of an option for you with kids though. I did have to fly on two very long flights with my son when he was 5 yrs old and we were bringing him back to the US after we adopted him. We had a 7.5 hr flight and then a 9 hr flight. I don't have too many great suggestions from that either though, because he was totally mesmorized by EVERYTHING going on on the plane (since he'd obviously never been on one), that he wasn't bored for a second. (He also watched Ice Age 2 in English, even though he didn't speak it yet, and thought it was awesome.) Can you read on a plane (I know it makes some people sick)? That's what I mostly do if I'm not sleeping. For your kids - handheld video games, portable DVD players....do you know if you are on a plane that has the tv monitors in the back of every seat so you can pick the movies/shows/music you individually want? Those are fantastic! Hope you have a great flight!

At the moment, we're planning for my best friend's visit over here next June, when we'll be going to Edinburgh for the day and over the Channel to Northern France for the day as well.
We're just waiting for the rest of our grocery vouchers to come through next month, then we can book our Norwegian fjords cruise for the end of April as well.
I'd also like to do a weekend getaway around the end of January or start of February, but nothing's definite about that yet...
Then there's the WDW and Fantasy cruise and maybe Disneyland/Hawaii for December 2012 for my 40th, a return to Japan for 2013 and the Olympics next year, for which we've got some athletics tickets - I guess you could say I'm planning one or two things...
Ashli: there is no way that I can sleep on a plane. I have no clue how anyone does it I wish I could. But then, dh would have to look after both kids I am already thinking i need a new activity for each 1/2 hr of the journey for the kids. We each have our own t.v and we can rent out a movie if needed. Will give them their DVD player to watch too. For me, it will be 1/4 of one of those tiny bottles of run and gingerale to get me through the trip at this moment I can read and write while flying if I don't get too nervous. Wish I could use my computer and the e-mails, that would keep me busy or use my cell phone. It sounds like you are going on a great trip too.
Cheryl aka chezp: I am envious with all the travelling that you are doing.

Everyone else, keep us posted.
I don't know what airline you are going to be flying, but some of them are starting to offer internet during flight (for a charge...usually around $10 I think). I know Delta does it...not sure who else.

We just returned from a trip to Savannah and the Georgia coast so we're not going anywhere else for a bit. We do have a couple days off next week and we're just going to do some local things.
In June, my niece is graduating. They live in Southern IL, so we're looking at doing an extended trip to visit Chicago and St. Louis...mainly to catch some baseball games.
And next October is our big Disney trip. We haven't been since 2007 and this is going to be our Debt Paid Off trip.

We just returned in September from 7 days in Oregon....wonderful trip! We are headed to WDW in January for the 1/2 marathon and a 6 night stay. After that.....not too sure. Daughter-in-law did ask if we were interested in doing a Gulf trip with them and their 2 year old daughter....which I said Of course! No dates set yet.....she's not the planner like me!
Winnipeg, Sept 2012.
It's the bicentennial of the original settlement, and since my ancestors were among the founders, we'll be there for the celebration. We'll have to pull DD out of school, but I think it's an event worth taking her to.
