As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). When a campground advertises having electric or having electric hook-up.... what exactly does that mean?
Is this specifically for RV's; which we dont'/won't have..... or like an electric box where you could plug in a fan or something(which is what I'm hoping it means)?
As you can tell, I have not camped a lot; and what little camping I've done did not have "electricity".

That is for RV's. Hello newbie camper, hope you have enjoyed your stays in the great outdoors. Made s'mores yet? Watched the majestic heavens in the dark of night yet? had any encounters with furry critters? If not, then get ready, cuz you will. All the Hook ups and electricity is for recreational vehicles or 5th wheels. (between you and me, I don't really consider that roughing it. but, to each his own).
Thanks for the info! I was hoping we could maybe plug in a fan.... but I had a feeling it was for RV's.... We have made smore's before, but not come across too many animals.... I don't exactly have a love for camping, but I can endure anything for a few nights and the kids love it, so......
Alot of campgrounds have what they call "baresites" for campers using tents; meaning no electricity available and water is usually available nearby. However, when you go to campgrounds, you will find many "tenters" using sites right next to people using RVs. Usually a site with electric, a water source that you can hook up a hose to and sometimes a sewer hookup costs more money but anyone can use it. You just need to request a site with electricity when you make your reservation so you can plug things in. When DH and I have tent camped, we always get a site with water and electricity because we want to have the ability to wash dishes at our site and have lights in our tent and want the ability to use a fan if we want. If the site comes with cable, we have also been known to bring a TV with us. No need to rough it just because you are in a tent!
My son is a camper and they often use the electrical connections at the site. I don't know if it is specific to the campgrounds they go to, but they will make coffee/heat up water in the morning with electric pots.
The electric hook-up is not just for RV's, tent campers can us them to. Before we got our pop-up we where tent campers and always got the electric hook-up. I hope you have fun on your vacation.
Campgrounds vary and have both in any single or combined setup and their rules can vary from campground to campground.
Such "vary", as an example, would be a space that is long enough for a trailer or camper and a couple of cars, which is generally paved. Some campgrounds will insist that a trailer or camper (not a car) must use the spot primarily and any remaining space on or off the "parkway" can be used for tents or other camping equiptment. Others do not have the requirements.
Being reservations are generally required (and recommended or the campground might be full) as you attempt to make a reservation ASK about the hookups, if a trailer or camper is required and how many trailers, campers and cars are allowed on the site. Families and friends can generally share the same campsite but a fee for each is generally required.
I referred to off property campgrounds and I do not know know about the campgrounds at Disney as you did not specify.
When hooking up to electricity be careful that you are using the correct cords and plug into the correct receptacles. For your safety various cords and receptacle allow for this depending upon the equiptment. But beware plugging a 12 volt incorredtly into the 110 current. Remember that some receptacles are hooked up to 220 volts.

Depending on the camp ground and what each allows, tenters can reserve sites with electrical or even water hook ups. We always asked for a site with electical and water hookups when we tent camped.........just makes things easier!! Some campgrounds, however, do not allow tenters in those sites so you will have to ask.
Some campground call the sites without water and an outlet primitive tent sites and they are usually cheaper. I have tent camped since I was a girl and our site always had an outlet and a tap.
