As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OK - my daughter is in college, taking ENGLISH. She has a wacky teacher who insists as part of their assignment that they write a daily dream journal. The only problem is, neither my daughter or I ever remember our dreams! So now she has to come up with about 50 dreams, and is just at a loss. Do you mind sharing your dream last night? She would really appreciate it!

I find that really odd that the teacher would require that. There are many people who do not recall their dreams very often. Has your daughter discussed that with her teacher?

I honestly can't remember what I dreamed last night. It must not have been that interesting.

Yes. She has discussed it with her repeatedly. Neither DD or I ever remember our dreams! So this is a tough assignment for her. The teacher said she is trying to train the students to 'lucid dream', or in other words, for them to control their dreams. Neither of us can figure what this has to do with an ENGLISH class. DD tried and tried for the first few weeks, sleeping with a pad of paper by the bed and a pen in her hand, but, nothin. So DD has resorted to making stuff up every day! She is running out of ideas, though, as well as time to write them all down...

I had a weird dream last night. I was getting married and when my I had a party to announce my engagement, over 50 men I had been married to before showed up to tell me I needed to remarry them instead.
I thought this was a funny dream - I will celebrating my 22nd anniversary to my high school sweetheart on Friday.
Feel free to borrow my dream - I had some crazy college assignments too.

Last night I had a dream that I was on my DCL Alaskan cruise and I had forgotten to pack any pants . I was running around trying to figure out where I could get some pants and I was very late to (our first) dinner. If there are any psych majors out there, I'm not sure I want to know what this one means .
Last night's dreams were really weird, no more pretzels before bedtime!
1. My car broke down on the way to work and I was afraid of being late so I started to hitch hike. The Flintstones picked me up in the Flintmobile and I had to run all the way to work.
2. We moved into a new house that was bigger than the one we have. When we started moving in our stuff, we found one room completely filled with cheap stuffed animals from some carnival and we didn't know what to do with them.
Those were last night's dreams. But I have a recurring dream that an actor doesn't show up for a show and I have to go on stage for them. I know none of the lines, I can't find a script, and I have to wing it. Usually, I'm in the wrong costume as well. I hate work dreams!!
One of my undergrad professors in psychology told us once that dreams are the garbage that your mind is throwing out. I always liked that idea, especially since I usually have some pretty wild and vivid dreams.
I can't remember last night's dreams, but the night before I was dreaming that DBF's brother and sister in law brought us a stove as a gift during their recent trip to Michigan. It was made out of plywood and required that we assemble the working inside parts. I remember DBF running around with a bunch of tools and parts telling me that I was going to have to wait to cook anything until he was done.
Neither one of these are recent but feel free to borrow them.
1) A friend of mine showed up at my work to take me to lunch. However he showed up naked except for a beret & socks & shoes with his dog & a penguin. My friend, his dog, and the penguin spoke french but I couldn't understand them when they did.
2) A friend's sister had a bed in her office instead of a desk. She was sitting on the bed propped up against the headboard & I was laying beside her with the sheet pulled up over my head. My friend was kneeling on the foot of the bed bouncing up & down while his sister tried to convince him to do something.
Neither one of these are recent but feel free to borrow them.

That is a great dream. I usually remember mine. I'll have to post if I have any this week.

I'm living the dream 20 minutes from Disney! Next trip...tomorrow. Follow me on instagram at ShirtsByShell
I don't often remember mine, but when I do I get scared: they're usually about people dying and when I dream they die, they tend to die soon afterward.
She could incorporate some recent events or even just ordinary events into her "dreams"; dreamt that she was in Tokyo DL, and there was another earthquake, a tree fell on her dorm (house, apt. whatever), she couldn't have children so her mother (at an advanced age for pregnancy) had some for her, an Easter bunny came into her home and stole all of the eggs because there was an egg shortage, she was shopping for clothes with a friend and couldn't find any that were small enough/big enough/the right color/the right season, she had a cat and it morphed into a dog, she was a sporting event (basketball, football, roller-derby, car races) and one of the players (or car, ball, etc) fell into her lap knocking over her soda and making her wet and sticky - causing a trip to the restroom where there was a llama taking a bath in the sink? - you could go on and on. I'm assuming that the "dreams" don't have to be too detailed.
This does sound like an odd assignment! Hope your DD can figure out enough "dreams" to write about! Tell her to use a few google searches to find "Odd dreams" or something like that also.
What an odd assignment! I have a lot of dreams that I'm running.. Not running toward or away from anything, just running for the enjoyment of running. I'm severely out of shape so this is something I've never been able to do, but have always wanted to.
I also had a dream a few nights ago about getting in a fight with a friend's mom. The mom has always kind of struck me as someone who doesn't really like me, I think she sees me as a bad influence. The whole thing came out in the dream and she told me I wasn't as "good" as she was and it was weird. Very odd. I had not been thinking about her mom before I went to sleep or anything, but it is something that's always aggravated me, and we've been friends since 4th grade.
I had a dream I woke up and there was a spider (one of those big black ones!) on my husbands head normally I would freak out but this time I just went back to sleep. which I would never do normally I would freak out.. and last night I had a dream my dog was sleeping with the spider..
so I guess she can write about sleeping with a spider LOL
Don/t remember very many of mine but here is a doozy. Something was chasing me and I was very scared. I "woke up" and there was a monster (similar to what Rick Moranis turned into on Ghostbusters) at the foot of the bed and climbing towards Dh and me. I woke the entire house up screaming bloody murder and it took several minutes for them to get me awake. I was shaking and my heart was about to beat out of my chest. I never want a repeat of that one!
