As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We stayed at ASMu last time. This time we'd like to go moderate. We're not huge hang-around-the-hotel type people. I would like to take my 7 year old son to the pool once this trip, since we're probably not getting water parks and more. We'll be travelling at Christmas time so the decor will be important.
We also probably will eat our meals in the parks so restaurants won't be an issue.
Tell me about your favorite moderates and what you LOVE about them!
We love POFQ. It is the only mod we've stayed at (we usually stay deluxe) but we had a great time here. The resort is very small and nothing is a long walk away. The pool is great with the dragon slide. The theming is great as well. Didn't stay during the holidays, but I'm sure, in true Disney fashion, it's decked out to the nines!
We are also fans of POFQ. We really like the size of the resort. Having everything close by makes it really nice especially late at night when you are really tired after being in the parks all day.
I like CSR and POFQ. CSR holds a lot of memories for us because that is where we stayed the first time we took our kids there. The resort just opened and the kids were little at the time. Besides that the resort is beautiful. We like POFQ because it is much smaller and the water taxi to DTD.
We have stayed at POR three times, so we obviously like it. The resort is huge so if walking is an issue, it wouldn't be for you.
The big pool is nice but it's nice having the smaller ones around too. Like having lots of choices when eating a quick meal. We also like to take the water taxi to DTD.
Last time we went, once we entered the lobby one of my boys said "We are home!" Can't beat that.
I'd recommend CSR! Besides having a great main pool area, CSR also offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price.
CSR has queen beds which are a plus!. The rooms have been recently renovated and are gorgeous.
CSR has a fitness center, spa, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night club.
CSR has a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room instead of a privacy curtain like the other mods.
CSR has the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).
CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great.
CSR has terrific transportation that is not shared with another resort.
We've stayed at CBR & POR-Riverside. Both are beautiful resorts. CBR has had their reno, POR Riverside reno starts in May. POR is getting Queen beds.
We love POR just a little more because of:
Boat To DTD
Evening entertainment in lounge
It just has a tad more to offer.
Also, everything is in one main area-Lobby, restaurant, CS, Lounge, DME bus
At CBR the Lobby and the other buildings with food, shops, etc are seperated. So not too easy to stop at lobby concierege, then grab a bite.
We are DVC member so we almost never stay at Mods, but I really like CBR. I would book a pirate room if I was staying there! The pool has been recently rehabbed and the rooms as well! I would look to see if the PO rooms you are looking at have been rehabbed recently--I know they are working on it and putting in Queen Beds!
We are also fans of the POFQ and have stayed there 3 times. We actually were at POFQ in 2006 just after Christmas and the decorations were beautiful. The resort is small, easy to navigate and very charming. We particularly enjoyed the boatride to DTD not to mention the fact that I believe POFQ will have undergone extensive rennovations so it will be newly updated for your trip. Good luck with your choice.

I've only stayed in two Moderates Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs. I'm either a "save money and stay value" or "go for it deluxe" type vacationer usually.
I liked Coronado Springs a lot. The queen beds with the really comfy bedding made the rooms so comfortable. The decor isn't very inspiring in the rooms, but it is fairly relaxing. The resort itself is beautifully landscaped that all the facilties we used were very nice. Caribbean Beach has more upbeat interior decor in the rooms and double beds. The resort grounds are beautiful.
I don't think you'd go wrong with either one. Both have fun pool areas.
I love CS. The beds are the most comfortable I've stayed in. Plus the queen size can't be beat especially if your little one likes to climb in with you.
The slide at the pool, I believe, is the largest of the resort pool slides. It's great.
The biggest plus for me is that the bus service is some of the best on property and doesn't share with another resort. The last time we were there I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus.
Coronado Springs Resort!!!!!! A moderately priced hotel with a deluxe feel. Queen beds, great pool and the restaurants are good too. Beaches with hammocks, kayaks, bikes, beach volleyball.
My fave is POFQ.
All of the rooms are in close proximity to the pool, the food court and the bus stop.
The theming is great and the courtyards give it an upscale feel.
I like Port Orleans, both parts--Riverside and French Quarter. I have stayed at POR more times.
I always laugh a little when people talk about the two resorts, mainly because my experience is typically quite the reverse from others. Yes, POFQ is more compact, but we were about as far away from Registration, the Food Court and bus stop as you can be, whereas at POR we were quite close to all! My favorite part of POR is Alligator Bayou.
I have stayed at CBR a couple of times and liked it a lot, though not since the advent of the pirate rooms, which I have to say is a work of genius that makes the rooms that are farthest away from the Food Court desirable--and premium priced.
I have not stayed at CSR, though obviously a lot of people love this resort. One of the reasons is that--assuming I am not mistaken or the situation has changed in a refurb--my understanding is that they don't have double sinks. If I was a big fan of pools that might balance things out, though.
