As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have tried watching a couple of the matches but they are so boring. I know soccer is huge around the world but I just can't figure out why. Is it just me or are there others that just don't get it?
Sorry you aren't able to get into it, but we're soccer Fanatic Family, with a few being former Soccer Players, and now coaches and Reforees. We always have it on here, World Cup or other. The World Cup has been fun to watch and we were watching the Brazil game yesterday.
We have been watching LOTS of the games - and have watched both the US matches at a local sports bar (the whole family - 13 & 10 yr old too!). That's a lot of fun - to see them with a big group.
The dilemna now, is that the next US game is at 3 pm (Dover time) Wednesday. Same time as the England game! We'll be in Dover waiting to board the Magic on Thursday, and really want to see the US game, but not sure we'll be able to find it, and not sure it won't be dangerous among all those English football fans!
My DH & DS have been banned from wearing US jerseys while in England!
I was AT THIS GAME!! It was so amazing, but I nearly had a heart attack. The disallowed goal was the same ridiculous nonsense as in the US game against Slovenia. He wasn't offside, it was a legal goal, and I (along with I'm sure every other US fan) have had ENOUGH of this crap. BUT, when Donovan got that goal in extra time, it felt like the stadium exploded. We all just were screaming and jumping and I think I hugged about a hundred people that I dont know. It was the best sports moment I've been present for ever. We have tickets for the round of 16 game too since we won our group. I can't wait!!! After the US game today, we drove down to the Germany/Ghana game, so we got a good look at the team we will face (Ghana). I for one think the US can do it!!!!! (and I tell you, if we get another legal "disallowed" goal, and you see some crazy woman running onto the field to tackle the referee, you can tell your friends "Hey, she's on passporter!!" because it will be me.) GO USA!
I thought you might have been there! How awesome!!! Cheer them on in the next game too - will ya?
Maybe you'll do a trip report of your time there when you get back! That would be something to read about!

OF COURSE I will be cheering them on at the game today!!! I am so excited, I can't wait for tonight! I'll be right near the midfield line in the upper section. We've already been to this stadium, so I know the seats are AWESOME. I can't wait!!!!
I will definitely be posting a trip report when I get back. I am actually writing it as we go in a journal, but I haven't had the time to type it up yet and get it all coordinated with my pictures and everything so I think the actual posting will not be till I get home at the end of next week. Glad you want to read it!
GO USA!!!

Don't ask me, I don't get it, but DH is a lover, along with most of the UK and much of the world. Ask the rest of the world about baseball and the chances are that they'll say they've either never seen it (true - honestly!) or it's boring.
I guess it's different sports for different people and America is very different about its sport, as it's probably about the only big country in the world that's not into football (sorry, that's the name everywhere except the US! )

Actually I've been informed while being in South Africa that South Africans and Australians also call it soccer. (and England came up with the name soccer so I don't really know why they went back to calling it football...soccer was a way to differentiate it from "real" football - rugby)
To the OP: not to sound condescending at all, but have you ever had someone really explain soccer to you? I just say that because most of the people I know think it's boring because there are not usually a ton of goals scored (unless you are Portugal recently...). However, soccer is so much more about the anticipation and set up of potential goals which is what makes it exciting. I've seen almost every World Cup game this time (although yes it helps that I'm in South Africa right now and some of them have been in person) and I've found most to be extremely exciting and well-matched. Going to two games today - GO USA!!!! and then Germany/Ghana later tonight. Try watching some games with someone that really loves soccer and maybe their excitement will rub off. Good luck!!

We're a soccer loving family. These days it's as loud in my living room as it is during football season "GOAL" !!!! DH played it growing up all the way through college and DD plays as well. If you never played it maybe that is why it not interesting to you?
I'm not that fanatical about it but there is something about the WORLD CUP and your country playing...Australia is up in about about 4hours time and I will get up to watch even though it will be 2.30am here.
DH has every game DVR'd, so we're a soccer loving family! DS (2.5) even asks to watch it now.
And by the way - the US just won!!!!!! And moved on!!!!!
Thanks for the news! I didn't get to watch (work) and DS didn't get up out of bed to watch and tell me. I did read that another goal was disqualified during the game.....?

I probably should have posted a warning - I know some people will wait to hear about it and watch it at home later.
I missed the disqualified goal, but they apparently said whoever was off sides. I'm sure my DH can fill me in on what happened - I know he listened to the game - and will probably watch it at home tonight too.
