As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay so for my 21st birthday-yay i am going to be staying at the POP CENTURY RESORT in DISNEY WORLD -i am overly excited but i am a LITTLE shaky because iv'e read some BAD reviews along with the GOOD 1s-anybody have anything to share or warn me about? lol im open to any experiences or advice-THANX! --
I don't think there is anything bad about it, or any of the value resorts. As long as you know going in it isn't a deluxe. The theming is alot of fun and you definitely know you are in Disney!
In my opinion, POP is one of the greatest resorts on property. It's fun, it's new, the transportation is great, food court is delish...we stayed in 70'sB and the location was great. If quiet is important at night, request a room that doesn't face the pool. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. Have fun!
Most of the bad reviews I've read are either people whose expectations were too high (expecting deluxe accomodations simply because it's Disney), or they didn't research what to expect and were surprised at waits for buses, walks to the food court, lines for food, etc.
We enjoyed our stay last Feb and wouldn't have been able to go if it hadn't been for the affordability of Pop! Did we have to walk a little farther to get to our bus stop? Yes. Did we have to wait a little longer for buses? Sometimes, but not always. Did we have to get creative finding places to store our suitcases? Yes.
But you know what? We were in The World and having a great time! There are enough good/GREAT reviews out there that it's worth it for you to form your own opinion of the resort. I think you'll love it....and think of all the extras you can enjoy, since you're saving by staying at a Value.
I've stayed at Pop Century four times. It's a great resort with cute themeing and lots of color. It has basic ammenities and smallish rooms, but if your focus is to play in the parks, this is a great place to rest after a long day.
We were just there in May and had a great time. The resort was very clean ! the food court was excellent ! We stayed in the 60's opposite of the hippy dippy pool facing the lake on the 4 th floor. We could see illuminations from just outside our door. If you have any issues let them know. I don't think you will !

I have stayed at some of the Deluxes, mods and Pop, and for the value and theme, Pop Century can't be beat! We really enjoy that "larger than life" Disney vibe that Pop gives off. It is such a fun resort. The beds are okay, the rooms are smallish, but work just fine for occasional breaks, sleeping and showering. Avoid ground level pool side rooms if noise bothers you. We typically request a room close to the hippy dippy pool (I think that is what it is called). Mousekeeping was sufficient to great...never came back to a dirty room, always had plenty of linens and toiletries, and the carpets were vacuumed. The food court is my favorite of all the resorts I have stayed at. Lots of variety. We also like to spread a blanket out by hourglass lake and have lunch on nice days...much quieter than eating in the food court! The biggest gripe I have is that the bus que area is not covered, which bites in the rain or scorching Florida sun.
I hope you enjoy your stay! We love it there!

We have stayed at Pop twice and loved it! I find that the walk to the bus/main bldg are no longer than at a Mod resort. The theming is so much fun! And lastly the buses are great. We have stayed at most of the mod resorts and the buses are the same as at Pop. You will have a blast I am sure of it. Happy 21st!
We just got back from the Pop Century and loved it. We were in the 60s, facing away from the pool - non-upgraded room, but it was great. The buses were fine. The food court was good. No complaints at all.
Just got back from POP this past Saturday. Everything about POP is great. My DH was just a little annoyed that pizza delivery is only until midnight, but that is ok. That is why I brought some snacks! You will have a great time!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pop Century! Not a single bad thing to say about it! I've stayed there 3 times now and did not hesitate to make that our home-away-from-home again for our trip in October!
The food court is great with lots of choices. I hear a lot of people complain about the lack of choices and getting tired of the food there after a week. I'm sure if I ate anywhere ALL WEEK I would get tire of it! Not sure why those people are eating at the resort so much when they have all of WDW to chose from anyway! lol
The bus transportation is wonderful as well. Even better than several of the deluxe resorts in my opinion. Pop Century does not share a bus with any other resort, and the bus stops are very well labeled and separated so that you know what bus you are waiting for.
The whole theme of the resort is FUN FUN FUN!!! I love the pools, the view of the Walt Disney World welcome sign from some of the buildings, the view of Illuminations from some buildings... So much to love about this resort!
If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me! I love sharing what I have learned!
Nothing bad to say here, stayed there 2x's once in the 50's and once in the 90's, buildings are set angled enough you can get around w/out too much of a long walk. Food court is nice, the decorations are great look for the big Baloo from Jungle Book and the Huge Mickey Mouse telephone. Have a great time.... Pizza delivery is great too...
I think everyone has touched on the very things I'd have mentioned. I've stayed in the 70's and the 90's. Personally enjoyed the 70's more, but that is just personal preferrance. Please don't worry, you'll have a wonderful time. POP is a lot of fun.
