I'm just sick -- I can't get a Photopass discount CD - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm just sick -- I can't get a Photopass discount CD
I will admit I got the email with the discount offer. But it came MONTHS ago -- like right after I booked. And I didn't preorder (because on our last trip, the discount code was only good for a couple of weeks -- so why would I preorder in Sept for a Dec trip.)
Anyway, I apparently didn't save that email because I can't find it anywhere in my email folders.
I called Photopass today and they said I can't preorder on the phone and they can't reissue the offer. I'm kicking myself because it really is my fault.
Grr! I can't justify full price for the photo CD, but was really hoping for the discount.
I preregistered the photopass card that came with my travel docs. I've heard that sometimes results in a discount -- when might that one show up?

The offer comes from Disney Destinations Marketing, not Photopass; that's why they can't give it to you. If you reserved directly through WD Travel Co., maybe you can throw yourself on their mercy. We reserved through a TA, didn't get the email at all, and our poor TA had to wrestle with Disney to get a post-trip discount for us, equal to the pre-trip discount. Apparently there are glitches in the system so that only those who reserved directly with Disney got the offer. If you used a TA, they need to get it for you.
Have you looked at the Facebook discussions on the Disney Photopass page? For possible solutions, look at the last page of the discussions under "please bring back preorder CD." And I assume you checked your spam folder? And you had allowed Disney companies to send you email? Good luck and I hope you are able to get it!
Brad from StitchKingdom.com has lots of information on the email you would've received by booking a package -- it might help locate it if you still have it somewhere and just can't find it.
i too am sorry i can't get one. disney distinations sends me email frequently, but not one with a discount. So far i can get a phone number for the Photopass folks but not the phone number to talk to someone who can help. My packet did have the photopass card and i have registered it. hopefully that will spark something.
I never did get the coupon for pre-order discount. I also haven't gotten anything post trip (just got back on Saturday). I had registered my photopass card before I left. Then I called every number I came across because I ordered through AAA. I got ziltch. So I'm not ordering the pictures this time. They've lost a customer.
Staying On Site - Guests who book a Walt Disney World vacation package should receive a special Disney's PhotoPass card included with their documents. Not to be confused with the $99.95 PhotoCD pre-purchase offer, registering this card online will allow Disney's PhotoPass to mail additional offers before and after the Disney vacation. A typical offer may be $30-$40 off of the PhotoCD for example.
second, those who booked through a TA will have to have the TA contact PhotoPass directly for right now, it's that simple.
third, what everyone can try is to create an itinerary on the WDW website. that's been known to induce the email in some instances.

my TA called while I was there. they gave her the same answer as they did me. Offers come in an email through disney destinations. they have no control. I will ask her to try again. maybe a different person will get a different answer.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. My TA has made numerous calls to no avail. No response. I'm really disappointed because I was really hoping to do this but can't justify that high of a price. Oh well, perhaps when they lose a bunch of customers they'll realize that $50 discount given would have ended up making them a lot more money in the long run. Especially during these economic times!

not sure who your TA is calling specifically, but I have a direct connection with PhotoPass and I can assure you it works just fine that way. the TA needs to contact PhotoPass directly until they get it all worked out where the TA liasons at Disney will be able to facilitate everything. right now they're just getting DVC ironed out.
As it is, PhotoPass just attended the EarMarked conference as well as another travel oriented conference to help smooth out the details.

She's calling the number from the photopass website. Like I said, she tried several times to no avail. We leave for our trip tomorrow so I guess I'm pretty much screwed as far as getting the pre-order discount.
My trip is a week away and I haven't received the pre-arrival offer for the photopass cd. I booked directly through WDW online, will be staying at a WDW resort and I'm set-up to receive promotional offers. When I called Photopass yesterday, they asked for my res #, looked it up and told me I wasn't eligible for the offer because I had purchased the Magic Your Way Package. Does anyone know what's going on with this cd offer and why it's so hard to get now? I got it and bought it last year with no problems.
Disney Destinations says they don't issue the email, Photopass does. Photopass says it comes from Disney Destinations and they can't reissue it.
I did get the email -- that's the part that makes me so upset. I remember seeing the offer -- $99 CD, personal photopass card.... I thought I had saved all of my Disney emails, but that one isn't there.
Frankly, I'd happily take a $30 or $40 discount for preregistering my photopass card, but that hasn't been offered. When/where do those show up?
