Are. there any White Castle Burger Locations in NY or NJ off I-95? - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Are. there any White Castle Burger Locations in NY or NJ off I-95?
I'm sorry I this is in the wrong area, and please feel free to move it if it is in the wrong area. Does anyone who drives down to Disney from the New England Area, RI, CT, Ny, or NJ know if there are any White Castle Burger locations located close to I-95? We're leaving for The Boston Area in a few weeks and DH had mentioned that he wanted to stop at one either going or coming back home. If anyone wouldn't mind letting me know, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You?

I'm sorry, and I know this is completely unelpful, but as soon as I saw this post, all I could think of was Harold and Kumar. Hopefully you find a White Castle in NJ a little easier than they did!

Molly, I had to laugh at your post, since I love that Harold & Kumar movie. Thanks, I think our adventure driving should hopefully not be an adventure like theirs(fingers crossed).

Harold and Kumar were on last night! I love that because I've lived in NJ all my life and have been to all the places they visited!
Eileen, thank you so much for your reply. I tried googling White Castle's in New York or New Jersey and got nothing. I'll most certainly look for Krystal locations! You're such a help! Thank you!
We're leaving VA around Dinner time on a Thurs night and figured by te time we hit NJ/NY we'll probably be hungry again(and not much traffic on I-95 at that time of the night/ early am). It would be a change for us than the usual Rest Area locations. Not to mention I haven't had a true Castle Burger since I was a kid.
As a former Jersey boy, I know your quest is possible. For example, there are two in the Elizabeth/Linden NJ area, near Turnpike (I-95) Exit 13. There are lots more, as you'll discover, but none are perfectly convenient to an exit, even the ones in Elizabeth and Linden.
When Harold and Kumar head from Hoboken (in the northeast corner of the state) and drive all the way to Cherry Hill (west central) in search of a slider... it's crazy. For example, there's a famous White Castle (relatively speaking) about five miles north of Hoboken in North Bergen, at a spot known as Nungesser's (a former trolly transfer point). Then there's the one about two miles from Hoboken in Jersey City, another three miles away in Union City, a bunch in Newark, the Oranges... all within about a 10-15 minute drive from Hoboken.
You'll also find a bunch in NY. One to consider is located on Bruckner Blvd. in the Bronx, very close to I-95.
All, however, are not at an easy spot like a rest stop - you might feel safer printing out driving directions from the highway exit or using a GPS if you go on this quest.

You are mentioning all my old stomping grounds! C'mon though, Dave, once a Jersey boy, ALWAYS a Jersey boy on some level.
When I can't get my rat-burger fix from a White Castle place, I can usually find frozen ones in ShopRite. They sell them with and without cheese. I'd suggest microwaving them five to ten seconds less than the directions say and let them sit in the microwave thirty seconds. Otherwise, in my microwave, the buns get too tough.

Dave, Thanl you very much for your very Detailed Reply! We will most certainly be driving with our GPS Unit. We usually never stop in NJ/NY unless it is at a Reststop, but we do need a little change. I sadly haven't enjoyed a White Castle Slider since visiting family in the Chicago Area, and thought there might be some in NJ/NY as a resting place for us. Pretty much every place in all of the Reststop we have near us within a 1/2 hour drive. NY/NJ are the closest to us and on our route (thank you Dave for the locations)! It will be worth the stop for us
Let's see... I think the easiest White Castle for you to get to will be in Metuchen. The address ays Lafayette ave, but its really between that and Route 1 South.
Take exit 10 for NJ-440 E toward I-287 N/Perth Amboy/Metuchen
Continue toward I-287 N
Keep left at the fork, follow signs for I-287 N and merge onto I-287 N
Take exit 1A to merge onto US-1 N toward Newark
Make a U-turn at Ford Ave
Destination will be on the right (on US 1)
White Castle
8 Lafayette Rd
Metuchen, NJ 08840-2900
To get back on 95S, you can either just take Route 1 S for a few miles and get back on at exit 9 or follow these directions:
17. Head southwest on US-1 S toward Co Road 657 I/Lafayette Ave
1.9 mi
18. Take the I-287 S ramp to NJ-440/I-95/Raritan Center/Perth Amboy
0.1 mi
19. Keep right at the fork to continue toward I-287 S and merge onto I-287 S
1.2 mi
20. Take the I-95 exit toward NJ Turnpike
21. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Trenton
0.4 mi
22. Keep right at the fork to continue toward I-95 S and merge onto I-95 S

TAKE THE 2ND EXIT FOR CASTLE HILL RD STAY ON THE SERVICE RD FOR ABOUT 2TO 3 MILES ON THE RIGHT IS BELLY BOMMERS THEN JUST FOLLOW THE BRUCKNER WEST TO THE MAJOR DEEGAN PAST YANKEE STADIUM TO 95 SOUTH OVER THE GWB ITS A LITTLE DETOUR BUT TRAFFIC IS ALWAYS BACKED UP ANYWAYS SO ENJOY THEM BURGERS IN TRAFFIC IF YOU WANT I CAN GIVE YOU DIRECTIONS BACK TO 95 S INSTEAD OF THE DEEGAN NORTH

Thank you exeryone so much for your replies and directions! DH is pretty excited to get to try a fresh Castle Burger since we will hopefully now hit NJ/NY by lunch time 2 Weeks from tomorrow. I thought this might be a topic of memories for those who like Castle Burgers
Sandy- We've had the frozen ones, but they don't taste the same as having them from one of the restaurants
We'll see how DS likes one since I will make White Castle his 1st Hamburger(at least small enough not to intimidate him by the size).

....reason the frozen ones don't taste the "same"...is that they're not "steam-grilled"....on a bed of onions that date back to biblical times!!
...I love White Castles....they don't love me...anymore!! But I will say that even as they have become slightly more expensive...they're still the best burger bargain you can get.......eat one today...and three days from now....it's like you just had one.....
.....unfortunately there are no White Castles in my town in NJ...and I'm 2 minutes away from Exit 9 of the Turnpike (I-95) I'm literally surrounded by them...there's one in New Brunswick...one in South Amboy....one in Metuchen...one in South Plainfield....etc. ....and they're all less than 15 minute drives from my home!
