As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Two silly questions of the day 12/30
After reading Steve's post I thought of a silly question & then a friend & I were discussing question #2 & I thought it would be fun to see all of your responses.
Question #1.. What is your most embarassing moment or the most embarassing moment of someone else that you witnessed?
The one thing that always comes to my mind is kinda gross but it was hilarious ( & still is) .. My Mom was a well loved woman (my best friend) & the church was filled for her funeral with not a dry eye in the house.. Well, as my brother & our families were walking out of the church following the casket, I happen to look to my left & see one of my brothers best friends sitting there sobbing uncontrollably & all of a sudden as he was trying to hold back a sob he got all choked up & a big booger flies out of his nose ( I told ya it was gross) & HITS the back of the head of the lady in front of him.. Now, I burst out laughing & then became hysterically laughing when the lady rubs her hand on her head to find what hit her... It was very embarsassing for my brothers friend but it did lighten up a sad monent for me & I always believed my Mom made that happen. We still talk about that & it was 14 years ago!
Okay, question #2.. If money were no concern.. what job would you want at WDW.. A good friend of mine ( abother Disney fanatic) & I always discuss this.. Our DH's think she & I should be the official Disney greeters.. like at Wal-Mart... "Welcome to
Walt Disney World, the happiest place on earth".. Her DH wants to work at the golf course & my DH wants to be the bus driver...

Re: Two silly questions of the day 12/30
Uugghh!Could that be when I forgot my underwear(there's a story there!) on the morning that we went to MGM, or then again, I still remember walking into my 6th grade graduation with the toilet paper stuck to the heel of my shoe....
As for Q#2-- DS(7) wants to work in the TOT, DD(10)wants to be Belle, Lynne,my partner(the librarian) would take over the library archives, and, as for me, I want Michael Eisner's job!!

Re: Two silly questions of the day 12/30
My most embarrassing moment goes way back to Junior high school when style and grace were of the utmost importance.
One morning, I did my usual routine and headed out to the bus stop to wait with my 2 best friends. It just so happened to be pouring down rain this morning and the bus came shortly after I got to the stop.
So, me and my friends got on the bus and just like normal girls, talked, gossiped and flirted with the boys.
Well several flirts later, we finally made it to school. The buses always dropped us off right in front of the lobby where ALL the kids hung out before school started. There was a huge "overhang" off the lobby so that even if it were raining, you could stand outside and not get wet. As my bus pulled up, the kids proceeded to get off one by one. Then comes my turn...who knew those darn bus steps could be so slippery in the rain?!?!? That's right, you guessed it. Instead of gracefully exiting the bus like everyone else, my foot slipped on the first step and I rolled right out and landed on my rump on the sidewalk in front of everyone!! Guess that was my attempt to be the center of attention and you know what? It worked LOL! Funny now but at the moment, I was at myself for winding up on the wet pavement and ruining my clothes. Mom wasn't happy that morning either as I made her bring me new clothes to school. Good ole Mom, she saved the day (couldn't do much for my grace and style though)

Re: Two silly questions of the day 12/30
I am laughing so hard I just know I'm going to wake my family up this late at night! ROTF!
Ok - my most embarrassing moment had to be in 8th grade. I had a split English class meaning that we went to class, split for lunch and then came back to class. Well, my English teacher was quite large, was notorioudly late for the second part of class, and I was her "pet" and people would tease me about it. So one day I was one of the very last people back from lunch ready for the 2nd part of class - the entire class was seated already and of course she wasn't in class yet. I proceed to annouce as I walked in the door "Where is that fat bit$h?" thinking that a rude comment would help me earn some graces from my classmates. Instead, their look of pure horror told me she was right smack behind me, which she was. I wanted to die.
Now I'll have to think about someone else's to top that booger story. ROTF! And in terms of any job at WDW - I'd take a Cast Member role at the Haunted Mansion any day!

Re: Two silly questions of the day 12/30
My most embarrassing moment? Hummm, there are so many. I guess it would be the time when I was dating DH and we went out to dinner with friends to a very che-che restaurant. We were all dressed up and as we were walking down the stairs, yep you guessed it I slip and fall down the stairs all the way to the bottom. DH and friends just walked right by me like they didn't even know me. Needless to say DH and friends have never let me forget about it.
My perfect job at WDW? Driving the monorail of course.

Re: Two silly questions of the day 12/30
Oh boy, my most embarrassing moment was recently.
This spring, my friend Cindy's Mom died after a lengthy illness. I called her to express sympathy and asked when the viewing was. She told me Monday, gave me the time and the funeral home. I knew her Mom was named Margaret, but did not know her Mom's last name. I double checked the paper Monday morning, and sure enough, Margaret was having her viewing at 10 AM at the Reed Funeral home. So off I went. I got there, parked, went in a little late due to traffic. Hmm...no Cindy, no Bob (DH), no Jennifer(DD), etc. I was already seated inside and didn't want to disturb the service, so I waited, paid my respects and left. In her sadness, Cindy had gotten the days mixed up, and her Mom was laid out on Tuesday. And what are the chances of two Margarets one right after the other? Unfortunately, I couldn't make Tuesday due to work, but I called Cindy Tuesday night and told her what happened. She said the lady at the funeral home remembered me because I looked so confused. We still laugh over that one.
My dream job would be to drive one of the little boats that patrol around Seven Seas lagoon. DH wants to drive the monorail, too!
