Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Wacky and/or Annoying Neighbor Stories

Inspired by Patsy-C's post...there are alot of STRANGE people out there.

We have relatively friendly neighbors next door (moved in about 2 years ago). We don't really socialize with them, but we do know them and are invited to their parties (and they seem to have 3-4 a year, which in my book is a lot!).

Anyway, last night when I came home from choir practice (around 9:15 PM) as I parked my car, I could hear what I thought was a loud radio. First thought is that it's the neighbor across the street's teenage daughter out in a car. But there are no other cars with people in them (we live on a very small block).

I can hear it when I get out of the car, and inside my house! (Remember, it's cold and all our windows are shut and storm windows are down). In our bedroom (which faces the neighbor's that I spoke of) I can hear the radio or tv very clearly. I can also hear it in the bedroom. It becomes obvious that it is the neighbor's tv.

Now, I am annoyed because I get up early on Thursday mornings and I just wanted to take a shower and go to bed. So I call them. The machine picks up. I try again. Still no answer, just the machine. And I notice that their cars are not in the driveway. They're not home but their TV is BLARING?? Makes no sense.

So I call the neighbor on the other side of their house. He can hear the tv too, but didn't know what it is. The three of us (me, hubby & other neighbor) go out to investigate. Obviously there is no one home, but the TV is on full blast. ALl the doors are locked and there is no sign of anyone trying to enter the house I am debating what to do because even though the cars aren't there, I don't know if the are all right and the noise is really bothering (the windows are shaking that's how loud it is).

I decide to leave a note saying that we are concerned due to the noise and that if they are not home by 11 PM we are calling the police and to call us to tell us that they are all right.

Well, around 10:30 the noise stops and I see that their cars are in. So I wait for a call. And I wait. And I wait.

Finally at 11, the wife calls me, thanking me for my concern and saying that they had left the TV on and that the receiver is broken and it automatically gets louder by itself?!?!? I didn't believe it for a second, but I wasn't going to get into it.

Is this the longest, strangest story you've heard? Or do you have another wackier and/or more annoying neighbor story to tell?

Re: Wacky and/or Annoying Neighbor Stories

I know that my ex had a stereo system that did that. It compensated for the noise that was in the room and got louder as the noises got louder in his room. Very annoying!

My neighbor here is a very sweet man, but strange. He loves to collect junk, and when I say collect I mean COLLECT! His garage is sooo full of stuff that there is just enough room to fit his truck into it. But it just doesnt stop there, his whole yard has junk on it too! As posted in another one, he has a birdcage outside with a chicken in it, gave us a housewarming gift of chimes made out of spoons and forks, and on our cold snap that just went thru was seen walking on his treadmill that is outside! He is very sweet, and will wave to us if we drive by his house and vice versa, and wouldnt ask for a better neighbor if asked. My other neighbors dont say boo, come outside, and have only mowed their yard once this year. Like they say, there are two things that you cant pick, family and neighbors.

Re: Wacky and/or Annoying Neighbor Stories

I think that your neighbors have relatives here! One neighbor has his 60" TV blaring ALL the time-even when they are not home; the grandson of the woman on the other side sits in his friend's cars with the stereo turned up full blast, making it seem as though they are in my living room. And then, there is the older man cattycorner across the street--- he is an MD with a very bizarre penchant for collecting junk!He drives around and picks up anything and everything that was thrown out, broken baby gates, rusted bike handlebars, crushed lamps, you name it. He fills up his car or truck until there is no possible way to squeeze in another item(not to mantion the fact that he can't see out of the vehicle!), and then parks it in his backyard and buys another car and begins the whole process again!Thankfully, we can't see the yard from here--he also buys old buildings and warehouses to store more of his "treasures". I want to move to Minnie's house and live with "normal" characters!!!

Re: Wacky and/or Annoying Neighbor Stories

When I lived in my last apartment the walls were paper thin (as I'm sure they are in most apartment buildings). Anyway, my husband and I amused ourselves almost nightly by listening to the guy who lived below us fighting with his girlfriend. We didn't mean to be nosy, but you couldn't help but hear everything very clearly and it was better than what was on tv.
The night before our wedding my sister had stayed at the apartment with me. At 6:00 in the morning I heard the guy downstairs and started giggling. My sister asked me what that noise was and I replied laughing "That's the guy downstairs snoring!"

PhilaDisney,

I lived in an apartment like that too. We had a guy and his girlfriend upstairs who were constantly fighting. One time, she was throwing stuff out the window at him as he was trying to get into his car. Your right, it sometimes made for more amusement than TV. And I had a guy downstairs who snored so loud. I was amazed he didn't wake himself up. I was glad to get out of that building.

Re: Wacky and/or Annoying Neighbor Stories

Well where can I start about my wacky neighbors. I have a few!!! But I'll just tell you about one.

1.Okay the one who lives right next to me got mad because when the parking authority put up the handicapped poles, the majority of the space used was in front of her house. (we rent our homes from the same landlord). We eventually moved them so that they would only be in front of our house. The reason we got the poles was because my mother is disabled and her son who does not live at her house parked his truck (that he is working on and has been for the last 3 years) in front of our house for over a month without moving it.
2.Last week she was putting up plastic to her windows at 9 o'clock at night. Then when my mother called over there, because she did not know if she was okay or not, she said "oh am I disturbing you?"

I could share more, but I think you get the point.
