Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The more things change....

The more things stay the same!!! Shelby is over the top over the Jonas Brothers.. Her entire room is covered in Jonas posters ( especially Nick), she has shirts, bookbag, purity ring.. the works JONAS!!! Well, they are coming to Pittsburgh in concert in July & as soon as she found out she started asking for tickets to the concert..

Thursday, the pre-sale tickets went on sale for fan club members etc.. Well, I must have been in a good mood because I got her & I tickets!!

The look on her face was priceless when we got the confirmation e-mail "I'm REALLY going to see the Jonas Brothers???!!!"

I sat here thinking how *I* was over the Osmonds at her age.. I was obsessed with Donny Osmonds (ya okay.. still AM) I can't believe I'm reliving that with my own daughter. My mom is probably looking down on me laughing saying "Ha.. what goes around comes around"

My very first concert I ever attended was the Osmonds.. I was 9 years old & my mom & her best friend took me & I sat there awestruck!! I can even remember the opening act.. Bo Donaldson & the Heywoods.. anyone remember their one hit wonder??? I'll give the right answer if no one guesses it later... I went to EVERY Osmond concert each year after that... I can still remember crying uncontrollably when Donny sang Puppy Love .

I have not only relived this with my daughter but also my niece.. my oldest niece was obsessed with NKOTB... I stood in line for 3 hours to get her tickets to their concert & then being the cool aunt even went to the concert with her.. seeing these 13YO girls screaming "Jordan" brought back lots of memories..

Okay.. what was the first concert you attended? & second, what was the best concert you ever attended? Share some good concert stories

For me the best concert was hands down George Michael... Faith concert he sang for 2 solid hours, was personable & energetic ( see, y'all thought I would say Donny)

Donny does play into a funny concert story.. I am 20 years old, newly married & my ex husband is still in that 'love ya' phase so he agrees to go to an Osmond family concert with me.. we got awesome seats 4 rows from the stage.. I took my tape recorder ( which was allowed in those days & have the audio tape of the entire concert) each Osmond had their own segments.. the brothers, Marie, Donny etc.. During Donnys part he was singing 20/20 vision. Through the fire & then went into Just once.. ( how crazy is it that I remember this) during Just once he comes into the audience & I become 13YO again & tell my ex I'm going to go up to him to take his picture.. I rush him & then get dumbstruck & don't know what to do so I snap his pic about 12" from his face ( blinding him I'm sure) I realize he is singing this song to me & just started screaming like a teenybopper... He then grabs my hand & follows me to my seat with me screaming all the way.. On the tape you can hear my Ex laughing hysterically at me... I get bck to my seat.. Donny is finishing the song, he gives me a little wink & then jumps on the empty chair next to me... I turn to my ex & keep gushing "I touched him, I can't believe I touched him!"
Years later when I met the man in person I must say I acted MUCH better!!

do share your moments!! & anyone got any industrial strength earplugs they can send me for the Jonas brothers concert?? Me thinks i'm gonna need them!!

Congrats on getting the tickets! They are coming down here in August and my daughter really wanted to go, but I told her we would be in Disney. (We really will be)
I would have to say my favorite concert was Billy Joel. He is just one of the best singers to me and really cares about his fans.
But I'm with you too with being a HUGE Osmond fan. I've never been starstruck before until I met Donny at the Animal Kingdom in '06. I'm lucky I got words out of my mouth because I felt like I was dreaming. He was really great with my daughter who was nervous to go up to him, so he got off his chair and went down on his knees and played "give me 5" with him. He eventually let her get him. We'll he created a monster because she ALWAYS talks about how Donny played with her. Do you have any pictures of when you were at the concert?

maybe i'm reading into this too much, but i have a question. i just happened to read 2 of your threads back to back. the first thread was how you were fighting with your 16 yo son b/c he wanted to buy a star wars robe with his own money because you thought it was too much. then i get to this thread where you buy your 13 yo daughter jonas brothers tickets (most likely bought multiple tickets since a 13 yo shouldn't go to a concert alone). i would also guess that jonas brothers tickets aren't cheap. i could see where that could cause some tension where you're spending money and helping out one child with their interests while telling the other that their interests aren't worth the money.
i can understand where you relate to your daughter's obsession with a musical performer. but you have to also understand that your son probably worships luke skywalker the way your daughter worships nick jonas.

I think you mis-read my post about my son.. I wasn't & am not against him buying the Star Wars stuff it was the cost of what he was getting & where it was coming from. In fact, the one he found closer to home is similar in cost but is custom made & NOT from Ebay.

As for the tickets for the concert.. surprisingly they were VERY inexpensive & about 1/4 of what my son wanted to pay for the Star Wars stuff...

My daughter just found out her friend got her a ticket to the Jonas Bros show here in Toronto in August. She's soooo excited. You better buy earplugs....she went last year and we waited outside an open venue for her and the sound of the screaming girls was unbelievable and we were over a mile away......WOW.....but Im sure you'll have a great time with your daughter.

So glad EVERYONE is happy now!

DD would be nuts with excitement too . . . especially after our Jonas issues last summer --- didn't get tickets to the concert soon enough and they sold out, then found out that they were doing a signing at the Exchange on base that wasn't publicized . . . and we got there to shop 45 minutes after it ended and had no clue it was going on at all. I was branded the "worst mommy ever" that day.

To actually answer your question about concerts . . . my first concert was The Beach Boys when I was 2 or 3 and my second was Barry Manilow when I was 4.

I would have to say the best show I have been to was U2 in Boston in June 2001.

My very first concert was actually not by my choice, since I was only about 5 or 6. My parents wanted to go and couldnt find a babysitter, so I ended up going with them to see......Charlie Pride. Dave and Sugar opened for him, oh yeah.
Im not sure about the second concert, I think it was Alabama. Charlie Daniels opened for them, that was a much better concert, and I was much older, like late teens, early twenties....Now my favorite concert ever would have to be George Thorogood and the delaware destroyers...No opener. They put on an awesome show, and it was a smaller venue than most concerts I have been to, so we were really close to the stage.
I hope you and your daughter have an awesome time

My first concert was Nelson. I remember having such a great time. I even caught a guitar pick that they threw out into the audience.

My best concert had to have been the 1st time I saw Paul McCartney. He played maybe 90% Beatles songs. I was in heaven .

Congrats on the tickets! And get those earplugs ready! A couple years ago, my DD went with her BFF, the BFF's Mom and the BFF's sister to see Hannah Montana and the Jo Bros in concert. During the intermission, DD calls me from her cell to check in and all I got were screams of excitement and the awe of seeing them perform. That was one of the best Christmas presents I gave my DD!

I too had a crush on Donny Osmond, but I never once got to go to an Osmond concert. My parents didn't splurge on those kind of things. Glad you all are getting to go! I think it's really sweet.

I just can't believe how much concert tickets cost nowadays. It's crazy. I've saved my old ticket stubs from my youth and the Cars circa 1982 was $14.50 for the ticket. Even Metallica was about $20.00 for the ticket. These prices are crazy - and so are the fees attached to them. My boys (7 & 5) just started listening to "real" music, so I dread the time when they're old enough to want to go to concerts.
