The "Maybe I'll Actually Complete My Trip Report This Time"--Pre Trip Report - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The "Maybe I'll Actually Complete My Trip Report This Time"--Pre Trip Report
Well I'm off to Walt Disney World once again with my way too beautiful DGF. This will be our second trip together.
Cast: Me (John, 25, God I'm old!) Since my last trip to Disney World I've become a cop in New York City, Roosevelt Island to be exact. I've been thinking about my next trip since the day I got back from my last one, but without any vacation days as a rookie, it was tough. My young career is flourishing now though. I'm working in the Anti-Crime Unit which works out of uniform and undercover. We've been doing great work, and I may be up for Detective very soon believe it or not.
DGF (Liz, 20) Liz is at Fordham University still and working really hard. She's running a ballet studio and doing very well. I know she can't wait for school to finish. I can't wait either. I really really want to get married. I feel like the girl. :-)
When: January 4th-January 11th 2009
Where: Off property again because there were no 7 for 4's available for my dates. We're staying at Vistana Villages on I-Drive once again. We loved it last time. Such a great place in a perfect location.
PTR: We're flying bright and early on Sunday the 4th on JetBlue for $200 round trip per person. We're arriving at 10:05am and heading straight to the World. We rented a car through Budget, just a simple Ford Focus for $206 including taxes. THANK GOD I'M 25 NOW! Those 25 dollar a day charges were atrocious last time. Our first day could be really hectic because there are a few things I want to do because by Jan. 5th, they're going to be gone. Ellen's Adventure is going on the shelf the next day and we missed that last time and despite not being a great attraction, we love Ellen. We planned on going to DHS during the day and then hopping to Epcot to check out Ellen, the WS, and IllumiNations, but now we found out that the Osborne Lights will still be up. So things might change. Future installment will have my day to day decisions.
The ADR List (Completed)
Jan 5. Akershus 2:40pm-- I've never done character meals, I like buffet/family style, and if you're going to dine with characters it might as well be those princesses right?! (Just Kidding, Baby!)
Jan 6. Kona Cafe 1:05pm-- I wanted to go to Polynesian for this trip because we did WCC at WL last time. I really love eating at the resorts because it gives you a chance to browse and get out of the park at a peak time for a while.
Jan. 7. Hollywood Brown Derby 2:45pm-- I was trying to get a Fantasmic package for one of the Fantasmic days but they're sold out. There were alot of votes for this restaurant and I'm trying to hit as many different places as I can so I can really find my favorites. So no 50's PT this trip. We'll see how HBD does.
Jan 9. Boma 6:05pm-- Our only repeat. I really loved Boma. Everyone else loves it too and I just didn't feel in the mood for Jiko yet. I think we're definitely going to try it on the next trip though.
All Days. Le Cellier ANYTIME-- I had a reservation for Le Cellier if anyone can remember from last time and it was our final day after a lot of expensive TS meals and we decided to cancel it. Worst mistake ever as I can't get it back for this trip. I feel terrible now. All I want is to eat at this restaurant. It consumes me everyday. Okay enough obsessing. We'll try for lunch or dinner here every day we can. If someone has an ADR during my trip, I'd love to trade you for it! :-) Oh well. My ADRs are finalized unless Le Cellier fits in somehow.
Day by Day plans coming soon......34 days and counting!

Sounds like you have some great plans lined up...keeping my fingers crossed for you that you can score Le Cellier somehwere during your trip and congratulations on getting through the academy and your new position....
Congratulations on all your achievements! Your trip plans look great! Good luck getting in at Le Cellier. Don't foget to keep trying once you are there for all those off times (late lunch/early dinner) and maybe even for late dinner. I've read tons of trip reports where people get a late ADR and then find themselves way too tired to make it and decide to cancel/skip it.

Congrats on your promotions and keeping fingers crossed for detective.
You say you "can't wait to get married". Assuming you have alreade "poped the question" will you be celebrating your honeymoon at the world too??? Is this a silly question?
It looks like you have your plans down pat. I sure hope you get your ressies at Le Cellier. We are going in late Jan and have not decided on that on or Rose and Crown. Any suggestions???

I have not popped the question yet. I will possibly do it in May. We're definitely waiting until she's down with college to get married which is like 2 years away, but I don't know how far out I can actually "pop the question." Our May trip might be a great time. As for Le Cellier/Rose & Crown... Id go with Le Cellier first.

Well, when you do, we want pics. You know a "magical" proposal would be awsome, with pics, of course.
Thanks for the Le Cellier advice. We are leaning that way.
I hope that you and your girlfriend have a magical time at the world

Well, I'm down to 14 days left and I have my entire trip planned out except for Arrival day and Departure day. Arrival day is thrown into such a loop because I'm still not sure if the Christmas decorations will be up and we want to see the castle, osbournes, and the world showcase...
Still hoping someone can give me 100% info one way or the other on those things so I can play accordingly. Otherwise, it's basically a free day because we hit everything we need to in the other days. We want to do Ellen's Universe of Energy because it closes the next day but it's not the biggest thing if we miss it. Splash Mountain is closing the day before we get there, I'm guessing those types of dates never get moved around. It would sure be great if we could catch a break and it be open on Jan. 4th somehow. We can only hope....
My final exact park choices and where we're hopping to and even our CS meals for the trip sometime around our Single Digit Dance.
After that I'll give you guys a "I'm driving to the airport" report and see you on the flip side....
I checked the Disney World website. The last date for Holidays Around the World at Epcot is December 30th and the last date for the Osborne Lights is January 4th. I could not find an end date for the Castle Lights. Hope this helps!! You're almost there!
Okay thanks, I guess that means no Epcot on January 4th. We'll go to Hollywood Studios and maybe head over to Magic Kingdom. I really wanted to see the Epcot stuff though.
