As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

If you could meet any living person, who would it be?
Dr. Zahi Hawass
What do you worry about most?
Planning fun and informative meetings for my Tiger Cubs. I always stress that they're going to bored or their parents don't like the program I'm running. Just because DJ likes an activity or game, doesn't mean they all will. Tough crowd.
Do you speak more than 1 language? Are you fluent or worse than a tourist with a phrase book?
I can read Italian and speak it badly. I know enough Spanish to not quite get by. And, though I do know a bit of useful Japanese, DJ is significantly more fluent than I.
If you could be anywhere in the world at this moment, where would it be?
Anywhere near the equator in a hammock with a fruity rum drink with a tiny umbrella in it. A scantily-clad cabana boy with a banana leaf fan to keep me cool wouldn't be the worst thing ever.
If you had to eliminate a single species of animal or fish - ::POOF!:: just gone from the face of the earth – what would it be?
Jellyfish. I live in fear. Or sharks. People never cease to amaze me. How do they not understand that swimming in the ocean where sharks live is tantamount to going for a stroll on the African Savannah? LIONS LIVE THERE!!!
Living person: Lee Cockerell, author of Creating Magic. His book has inspired me.
Worry about most: supporting my kids and them growing up to be OK with all the challenges they have.
More than one language: I can get by in German, esp if I hear it again for awhile. I took Spanish in Jr. High and can decipher some of it in print, just from my linguistics background, but speaking, : I'd love to learn, though!
If I could be anywhere right now...Disney World, of course! At the AKL in a suite with my DDs sipping really good coffee and watching the animals.
Eliminate a species: boy, you ask the tough questions! I'd say mosquitoes.
The views and opinions expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily represent or reflect those of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies
Living Person: I truly do not know - I'd love to say someone politically intriguing, or someone with some historical reference, or something. But I think I'd like to just meet someone witty and fun.
Worry about most: This is easy - kids getting hurt or dying. My kids especially. With one who already had a Spinal Cord Injury, I don't want to EVER deal with another.
Language: I can read French, German and Spanish enough to get by. I can speak French, German, and Italian enough to ask for the WC, order from a menu, and ask for directions to somewhere (but I'm not good at understanding, so directions are lost on me!!). Of course, as the mom of 3 girls, and step-mom to one that lived with me - I speak moody teen girl fluently!!
I would love to meet Oprah..She just seems like she would be so easy to talk to and she has had so many experiences...I just think it would be fun! My biggest worry is something happening to my kids, and I worry about what the future holds for them, especially now with the economy and the way the world is becoming!! As for a foreign language...I squeaked through Spanish class enough to earn my college degree...and can still count to ten...that is the extent of my foreign language knowledge!! I would eliminate snakes...all of them!
If you could meet any living person, who would it be? That's really tough! Meryl Streep would be interesting. Roy Disney for my Disney fix. Someone to give me truly amazing insight into how things really work - not sure who what would be.
What do you worry about most? The fact my DD is 12 and still has a long way to go to get past teenagehood.
Do you speak more than 1 language? Are you fluent or worse than a tourist with a phrase book? I can read Spanish, speak enough to get myself in trouble.
If you could be anywhere in the world at this moment, where would it be? Colorado - or WDW
If you had to eliminate a single species of animal or fish - ::POOF!:: just gone from the face of the earth – what would it be? Mosquitos (as long as it didn't kill anything else off); fleas

OH! I have met Roy Disney, and he is very nice and genuinely concerned with how we (his guests as he put it) feel about what they have done with the parks. We found him to be very likable!
Location: Physically stuck in Michigan while my heart and soul reside in Disney.....

1. If you could meet any living person, who would it be?
One person? That is a hard one. For totally self serving reasons I would say Kenny Chesney.....but I am not that shallow to base the chance of a life time on something that superficial. I would love to shadow a surgeon who specializes in surgery 'in utero', the miracles of todays medicine amaze me and the success rate they have with surgery on babies at only mid gestation is amazing!!!!! 2. What do you worry about most?
Without a doubt...my kids. I worry that they will make good choices, I worry that they will be safe, I worry that they will be happy, successful, accepting, non-judgemental, that they won't let lifes experiences make them bitter, that they will love without fear of being hurt. 3. Do you speak more than 1 language? Are you fluent or worse than a tourist with a phrase book?
Not sure if this is an official language but it should be!! I have 4 girls, 3 are teenagers......so I speak 'teenager', or text lingo. ie..."B4 U came home I 8 dinner." 4. If you could be anywhere in the world at this moment, where would it be?
With my best friend. My life is positively great, but things just seem even better when you have that special friend to share them with. 5. If you had to eliminate a single species of animal or fish - ::POOF!:: just gone from the face of the earth – what would it be?
No brainer.....snakes! Spiders run a close second though!!
If you could meet any living person, who would it be?
After the events of the last week, Barrack Obama. My goodness, you could have a fascinating conversation with him.
What do you worry about most?
Losing people close to me.
Do you speak more than 1 language? Are you fluent or worse than a tourist with a phrase book?
I speak French, German, Italian and Spanish - none of them well, although I can read and listen to each fairly well and I know enough to get by. I'm also learning Japanese.
If you could be anywhere in the world at this moment, where would it be?
Epcot!
If you had to eliminate a single species of animal or fish - ::POOF!:: just gone from the face of the earth – what would it be?
Wasps. I've just never understood the purpose of them. Keep the bees, as they tend not to sting you, as usually that's it for them, but wasps happily sting and carry on with life....
If you could meet any living person, who would it be?
There are a number of PassPorter members who are high on my list
What do you worry about most? Stuff I'm not going to post on the internet
Do you speak more than 1 language? Are you fluent or worse than a tourist with a phrase book? I learned French in school. I am not fluent, although I can catch enough to understand the gist of it - especially written French.
If you could be anywhere in the world at this moment, where would it be? I'm actually at that very place in the world at this moment!
If you had to eliminate a single species of animal or fish - ::POOF!:: just gone from the face of the earth – what would it be? I'm in the group that wants to make mosquitoes extinct - especially after being bit twice again yesterday! (Although I was actually smiling because I was bit twice by mosquitoes in November!!! )

Meeting one living person: I'd probably have to go with Barack Obama right now - or on a totally superficial level, Robert Downey Junior.
Worry about most: On an every-day level, it's usually work stuff. But on a larger-picture level, it's my family.
Speak more than one language: Yes, French and Italian, and just a little Spanish.
Anywhere in the World: Probably WDW! I've been especially jonesing for a visit lately.
Eliminate a species: I know Spiders are extremely useful, so as much as I'd like to say them, I won't. I'll go with mosquitos as well - someone tell me how THEY are useful!
Location: Cypress....Deep in Southern Illinois, close enough to see the Kentucky blue grass
