As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

My 8-year old DGS needs pixies. He had his tonsils out last week. Yesterday they had to take him to the ER because he was throwing up. They did an xray of his abdomin and discovered he was impacted up to his large intestine!! He had not been to the bathroom in almost a week!!! Of course they did something to empty his colon and gave him some medicine to help him get rid of the rest but he is having trouble keeping that down. Now this next part is not important right now but, I want to know why nobody noticed he was not A - drinking enough water and B - he was not going to the bathroom. Now my son works all day. My daughter-in-law wanted to send him to his mother's the day of the surgery, so I wouldn't expect her to notice (long story with her). His mother is a good mother so I am surprised she didn't notice once he got to her house (3 days after his surgery). They said he was doing alittle better this evening, he went to the bathroom today. So if you can, pixies for him please.

Pixies for your Grandson! I think it's something in the medication they give from the surgeries these days... I had surgery about 3 weeks ago, and I had problems with that for about 4 days! But I was drinking water... finally solved itself! thank goodness... hope he does well...

If he was on any sort of "pain killer", it would slow down his bowels. And, no-one's hungry after surgery!
But - like you, I wonder why no-one noticed he wasn't eating?? Doing #2, that I wouldn't know about my own kids - once they could wipe themselves, I stopped worrying about their bathroom habits, unless they said something.
I have a friend who asks her 17 yr. old son every day if he went "boom - boom", and if the answer is no - treats him with laxatives.
Pixies for your grandson - I'm sure he's probably feeling much better already! Hopefully, it will continue quickly!

Peristalsis is the muscle contractions that moves food along your intestines, and sometimes anesthesia from surgery stops that, and it doesn't automatically kick back up, that's why alot of people get constipated or aren't hungry after surgery, along with whatever medication they have you on. The nurses will usually make sure your gut starts moving again though before you're discharged. Hope he recovers and gets plenty of fiber, and glad to hear he's doing better!

I have spent years asking both DS's if they had bowel movements daily. One DS actually had a history of "mega colon." (Started b/c he didn't want to leave the playground to go poo). Spent lots of time on laxatives so he didn't accumulate any stuff so his colon would shrink back to normal size. Then years of just plain constipation and so much abdominal pain he would double over at school and I would have to take him home to "help it out." Oh and high fiber diets and stool softners daily. Even as a teenager. So there are reasons why we ask if they have a "boom-boom" everyday.

Yeah, I would still be concerned about my children's bathroom habits at 8 years old. They're just kids, they really don't know how to take care of their bodies yet. When I was little, I was notorious for holding it in, and my mom would take matters into her own hands and give me lovely warm water enemas (she's a nurse). It was so much fun.
