As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Our last two trips to WDW have been for 8 days and 13 days. BUT, we only had our three older kids who were 7/9. 8/10 and 11,13 when we traveled for those trips.
Since we do not know much about our adoptive kiddos at this point we are trying to figure out if the two week trip we have booked is going to be just too long. Since we are traveling from Maine and we only go every two years or so we want to go at least 10 days.
The kids will be 2 1/2 and 4 at travel time. Will 14 days be just too long for them? (guessing) Is 10 too long?

I personally think the shorter trips are harder, just because I feel like we rush rush rush. In my opinion the longer trips seem more peaceful and it is easier to have some down time...(like a daily nap) and also easier to get to bed on time, because you don't feel pressed to get it all done so quick.
I can't wait to go in the other room and tell DH. We are just so worried about all the new and different things about this trip. We had planned for downtime and naps and early evenings (at least 50%, and most of the "late" ones wouldn't be that late) and some later mornings.
Also, the price difference for the 7 or 8 day vs the 10 day is so small that we know even if all we do is use a day to ride one ride, see one show, and get a meal or something it will be worth it.
I am so excited to hear the voices of experience give the thumbs up to the longer trip! Yipee!

I agree!!!! You an easily do two park days, then a free day, then two more park days. What a wonderful experience it will be!!!
Thsi upcoming trip will be the longest for us ever...10 days and I am so excited!!!

too long? at disney??? (gasp) well i suppose it could happen... just make sure you spread the park time out, and plan plenty of resting in between. have a great time!!!!
Oh, trust me...for the older kids and Tom and I...we could do three weeks easy. I was really just wondering if little kids tend to just get tired of the whole thing or just need to be home or...or...or... I have never done it with kids under 7...let alone under 5 is all!
We have decided to just ahead and stay at a value... stay the two weeks... and use the savings for plenty of food, arcade time, PPP if there is one and potato head parts etc! LOL
I also plan on being able to relax and see the kidcot and other sights with the little kids...and DH says we have never seen enough of the shows at EPCOT. I know we can use up the time... and still miss seeing stuff!
Last time we went 7 days & it was too short. This time we're doing 10 days but we leave alittle past 10AM in Disney. We get home from Disney around 10:30PM. We paid extra for these flight times to maximize our trip time. My kids can't miss 2 wks of school. They'll miss only 7 this way. Have a great time ...do the 2 weeks if you can.

I think it'd be better to have it be "too long" than too short. If it's too short, there are possibly things that you guys would want to do and don't have the chance. On the other hand, since you'll be incorporating down days and everything and will have the opportunity to set your own pace, I think it'll be just perfect
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your new children. I am so 'into' adoption, it is a dream of mine. I have so many questions, but unfortunately, none of them are about Disney, so I guess they are not for here... Have a wonderful time on our trip with all your children!
