As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Anyone who has been on the mexican rivieara cruises recently could you aswer a couple of questions for me
1.) Has the magic had any engine propblems?
2.) what kind of back ground music are they playing on baord the ship? Is it a loop of Disney music or is it mexican theamed?

2.) The background music in the shops and restaurants that I remember was Disney. There was live mexican/latin music periodically...in the terminal and on deck.
1) Every large cruise ship that's been in the water more than 2 years has had engine problems. However, the question you didn't as was "Have these problems affected the cruise?" No. Our cruise on the Carnival Elation had engine problems and we sat dead in the water for about 2 hours. Arrived at Galveston 2 hours late. Of course, we also had a 10 hour "detour" to handle a man over board (MOB) situation. Sadly, she committed suicide. Cruise lines maintain a pretty precise schedule, but are capable of handling various issues and still maintain that schedule. Without having the specs handy, I think the Magic and Wonder are capable of about 25 knots. But cruise at around 20. Over 24 hours, that difference will give you 120 miles. In the cruising world, that covers "a world of sins".

Hi! We just returned from our Mexican Riviera Cruise yesterday and we did have engine problems. On Monday morning, the power went out for about an hour or so at 5 am. Then again at lunch time briefly. This did cause a problem as we arrived in Cabo late and it messed with our shore excursion. We were supposed to do the Dolphin Swim at 8:30 am and they initially cancelled it. Then, they rescheduled it for 9:50 am (there was already a 9:45 group). They didn't tell us that we were really going to be in the 12 pm group! We stood on the pier waiting "just another 30 minutes" over and over again. If they would have kept us better informed, we could have stayed onboard or gone shopping for that time.
The music is Disney themed and not really a lot of Mexican theme at all onboard. It was really more like the Caribbean themes that they are used to doing and didn't make many changes for Mexico. HTH!
Thanks I only asked about the music mainly becuse for the first part of the Trasn Atlantic cruise the played a really aful mix of "medateranian" music. There are only so many times that you can hear an orcestral version of Mulan Rouge before you want to go to the sound baord for the ship a throw the CD over baord. However the day after we left the canary Island we were back to the Disney Music and strangly the ship felt right after that.

When we first started cruising EVERYBODY was playing the theme from Titanic. Which I always thought to be slightly weird, a movie about a ship that sank with less than half the people on board surviving. But let's face it, the same people that program shipboard music also work for hospitals and elevators.
Dillon, that song has been in my head since 1964, and I'm still not complaining! And actually, it wouldn't be at all bad if they upgraded those little boats in Fantasyland to about 83,000 GRT. Why just fantasize about seeing the world and meeting its people, when you can actually do it?
The Sherman Brothers do not get personal responsibility for the music on DCL. Actually, very little of their stuff is heard on DCL - we hear a lot more from Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, especially thanks to The Little Mermaid. But I wouldn't complain a bit if we heard more from the Mary Poppins soundtrack by the Shermans - it's practically perfect in every way!

The Magic had engine problems during it's Marh 1, 2008 sailing this year. We were schedluled for St Maarten and had booked the early (8:30) Butterfly Farm tour. One of the engines went down and they reschedlued SE twice. Ours got pushed back to about 1pm. We docked 4.5 hours late. Then due to rough waters we had to skip Castaway Cay! Captain Tom tried to dosck at CC about 5 times. Kept turning around and going back. Each stateroom ended up getting a $100 credit due to the 2 disappointments.

In its last season, Stargate: SG1 had an episode in which some producers of a TV show about SG1 (a TV show of a TV show). One of the characters, Vala (Claudia Black) was an alien who had not been allowed off base and her total exposure to Earth culture was from TV. So she kept telling them about "missions" that were actually plots from old TV shows. One of them, which I curse them for, was described only this far: "We set off for what was supposed to be a four hour mission". Arrgh!!!
