As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

My right ear feels and sound like it has a pocket of water in it, but I can't seem to "pull" anything from it (don't worry - I'm not sticking things in my ears). I don't have any pain, but it feels like I just went swimming (even though I haven't stepped foot in a pool) for the last three days. Is this swimmers ear? Can I just get something over the counter to dry up the fluid? Is there any possible way I can avoid a doctors office visit, or do you think I ought to suck it up and go? Anyone ever have this?

Have you tried lying down on the affected side to see if any water drains? That's what I always did when I'd get water in my ears after swimming.
I don't know a whole lot about it-there may be some OTC drops you can buy to see if it helps. If it persists for 2 weeks though I'd check it out-you could have fluid trapped behind the eardrum which could get infected.
There are OTC drops for it, but I don't know any names off hand.
I used to get swimmers ear a lot as a kid. I had a standing prescription for Dombero solution (or some such thing) which my mother would refill every summer before swimming lessons started.
There are OTC drops that you can put in and it will dry the water up. Ask the pharmasist and they will get them for you. They should work fairly fast. That feeling drives my dd crazy so I use to take them with me any time we were going to be in water.
My DD is very prone to swimmer's ear. It is very painful so you probably don't have the full infection, yet. Our ped told us to use a solution of 50:50 alcohol:vinegar and put 1-2 drops in her ear after swimming to help dry out the ear. Once you have full blown swimmer's ear you will need prescription antibiotic drops to clear up the infection. Hope this helps!

Thanks, everybody! I tried to 50:50 solution and it has helped. My sister had swimmers ear a lot as a kid but I remember hers was painful.... mine is just annoying!!

DH gets it quite often but the OTC drops (we use ones called Swimmer's Ear) almost always work. Sounds silly but jumping up and down with the affected ear toward the ground usually gets mine out.

I've tried everything by way of gravity thus far and none of it has worked. Sleeping, lying, using the little palm of your hand for suction and while tilting your head, jumping up and down... its just kinda stuck. I'm goign to give the home remedy another day and if it doesn't clear it up, I'll try to OTC. If that doesn't work, I'm headed to the doctors. We have a Disney vacation to pay for folks - I don't want to spend any money if I don't to!

If you had swimmers ear...you would know it! It is so painful and you would
have to see a doctor. I had it during my early teens and since then I'm very
careful about swimming. I've used the OTC stuff and it seems to work. Also
a decongestant (sp?) might work to unclog your ears.

I was prone to this a lot as a kid and my mom always had me lay my head on a heating pad wrapped in a towel. My ear would drain after a few minutes. I have never tried any of the OTC stuff, hope you get it taken care of soon!
I use three drops of warmed olive oil, it sounds weird but my Dr. is the one who told me. Lay the offending ear upright drop in three drops of EVOO, and wait five minutes or so. Gently tip the bad ear over a towel and it will come out. A word of caution don't wear a good shirt!!
