Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Talking The return of Friday Night Fun

Since it's Friday, I thought I would ask a "fun" question.

Today, I had something in the corner of my eye and somehow while trying to get it out I punched myself and gave myself a black eye. After everyone stops laughing (it's ok I laughed for like an hour...) it brings me to my question.

What's the strangest way you've ever injured yourself?

That was not the best however, three days before my wedding I tripped. And I broke three toes and limped down the aisle

I broke my humorus once. I left my purse on the seat of my car, realized it as the door was closing, and stuck my arm in after it Why? I don't know because the car keys were in my other hand and I could have unlocked the door and gotten it

I've tripped up the stairs, twice. Pulled a muscle in my rear end last week, too. Can't say for certain how that one happened.

I slammed my finger in the car door. Best I can figure out something was falling out and I tried to catch it. Ended up in the Dr's office having to have it exrayed and stitched up. The best part was explaining how you slam your own finger in the car door.

Chrissi, I fall up the stairs weekly - you'd think by now, I'd have gotten the hang of it. Once I was running up bleachers in a gym full of people, tripped, tried to play it off by not stopping running, and tripped again. Embarrassing.

I'm injury prone - I threw out my neck and had to have physical therapy for 10 weeks just by sleeping wrong. Funniest would probably the the time that I was salting Fritos (I know, like Fritos need more salt - I was a teenager and dumb) and salt bounced off the chips and into my eye. I couldn't see a thing and grabbed what I thought was my glass, with water, to rinse it out, but it was my sister's glass, with orange juice. Yes, that's right - I used orange juice to rinse salt out of my eye. It's a miracle I can still see.

Mine would have to be when I helped DD move down to Arizona two years ago. We drove straight through to Amarillo, Texas from Minneapolis the first day. We ended up at a Days Inn. If you have ever stayed at a Days Inn before, the hotel places a desk (not a nice low nightstand) between the two beds in the room. Well I was really tired after that long drive. In the middle of the night, I woke up and wanted to see what time it was by looking at the clock on the desk. Well, I rolled too close to it, and caught my eye on the edge of the desk as I was sitting up! I have to say, that hurt a lot! By the time I got up in the morning, I had a lovely shiner around my eye.

We then drove from Amarillo to Phoenix and headed for my aunt and uncle's house. They have two weiner dogs who are not socialized at all. The second my uncle opened the door, the dogs ran out and one sunk his teeth into my knee! By the next day it was swollen and infected, so I had to go to urgent care. Because it was a dog bite, the urgent care had to report it to the Maricopa County animal control. They consequently made a home visit to my aunt and uncle and told them that they would have to quarantine the dog for a week. Needless to say, my aunt and uncle were not happy about that. They could have cared less about the bite to my leg, however. So animal control took the dog for a week, and they both quit talking to me-forgetting that it was their dog that bit me in the first place and caused a nasty infection! That was my vacation from #@%&*

In high school, I threw out my knee running from first base to second base. . . almost exactly to the day, two years in a row! And just last week, I pulled a quad muscle in my leg sliding during my approach when I was bowling. My sister tore her MCL in her knee when she tripped over the half court line during a basketball game.

I knocked myself out of my mini-van. I was trying to hang my uniform up in the back and when I stepped up to do it (in a hurry, of course) I did not duck fast enough and cracked my head on the door frame. I fell backwards and landed on my backside in the driveway, uniform strewn about everywhere, kids laughing at mommy being silly. All the while I'm sitting there trying to figure out how I got on the ground ...I had a headached for about 3 days, but no concussion (I went to the ER the day after.)

Lesson learned: duck faster.

when I put my foot on the closed toliet lid, I banged my foot on the bathroom cabinet. I went to the doctor for x-rays, broke 2 toes. Try and explain that on an insurance form!

I had been skiing with my girlfriend all morning - we created a little jump between the two trees. Around noon we went in to have lunch. When we went back, we hit the jump blindly... not realizing that others may have used it and changed it. My friend...? She hit the jump beautifully, spread eagle, soft landing. Nice. I hit the jump, good air, spread eagle,,, came down and... well, who knows... all I can tell you is that I hit so hard that I broke my binding on the outside of my thigh. I had a bruise so deep and big it was literally black, and about the size of a boot print. My leg was so numb that I continued to ski for the rest of the afternoon - on the bunny hill... with one ski!!!

I would say I'm sorry that I have chuckled through all these replies, but I can't. I'm thankful for you guys and how normal you have just made me feel. I could write for days about the silly accidents I have caused myself. But just one in particular is the time playing volleyball when I when up for a hit and instead fell down in pain because I had sliced my gum wide open with a fingernail, which wasn't even long. I was rushed to the ER as there was a huge flap of gum just hanging there, right under my upper lip. I can't even remember now what they did for it, but I talked funny for days and had a really hard time eating.

When I was pregnant with my oldest DD I had violent morning sickness (really all day sickness) lost 10% of my body weight and was almost hospitalized before it passed. Anyway I was going to be sick and I ran to the bathroom flipped up the seat (a really heavy old wooden one) and leaned over and the seat bounced off the toilet and hit me in the face and probably broke my nose. I say probably because I didn't go to the hospital since I didn't want X-rays while I was pregnant but I had a cut on my nose and two blacks eyes

Clowning around with the boys when they were younger, I pretended to fall out of bed and slammed my knee into the corner of the bureau. Had trouble walking for 2 days.

The first thing that came to mind happened last Monday night - missed the last step and severely sprained my ankle. Even the doctor said "so it says you missed the last step....you what?"
