Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

WDW Wedding question

I really want to get married at WDW, but my fiance is concerned that our families (ok HIS family) wouldn't be able to afford to make the trip. And even more than wanting a WDW wedding, I want to be able to have our families there. I have already been married once and it was me, my husband, our DD1, two witnesses and a judge in front of the zoo. This time, I know it will last and I want to make this wedding as wonderful as possible, and that INCLUDES having our families there.

My question is: what all does the price for the WDW wedding include? I mean does it include the room and park tix for the guests also or is that cost just for the actual ceremony and the planning? (I hope that question makes sense.)

I believe that the wedding package costs normally include the actual wedding ceremony and a room and park tickets for the newlyweds only. However, I'm sure that Disney would be more than willing to include accommodations and park tickets for your guests at an additional cost. I suggest you check with the Disney wedding planners to find out for certain just what they can arrange for you.

There's an itemized list of what the escape (lil' package) weddings can be found here MouseWeddings.com - Walt Disney World Escape Collection Intimate Wedding - Fairytale Weddings and that site is wonderful for breaking down the components of the packages. An annual pass for the couple is included, but I don't see any hotel accomodations tied into the package. Good luck!

Disney Weddings > Wishes > Ceremony > Common Questions is a FAQ for Disney Weddings. The cost of the Escape wedding does not include any hotel room, and you must stay four days in a Disney resort to have this package.
The Wishes wedding has a large minimum, but rooms do not count towards that minimum. Your rooms and your guests rooms would be in addition to the wedding cost. If you have a Wishes wedding, you could have the wedding during the value season and save your guests some $. Also, you will be able to choose three resorts, one deluxe, on mod, one value for your guests, and they will give you a special price on them for your guests. But there are room night minimums that you must meet, as well. Your guests will also be able to purchase specially priced passports. Again, not a deep discount. If you choose the time when Free Dining is available, there is a chance it might be offered again, but it's a gamble. That could help out your guests.
You could also do the Escape wedding with just close family, blame the minimum for not being able to invite more people, and have a small reception at home for those who couldn't make it.
Hope this helps, and good luck deciding.

Priscilla, that made perfect sense. Unfortunately, it means that I won't be able to have the wedding at WDW. Even for the Escape wedding, the problem comes in with will plan a small initmate ceremony here at home and then a wonderful blowout honeymoon at WDW for just the two of us. (Besides the more I get to know his mom, the more I realize that even if they did manage to afford the trip, she would gripe and complain the whole time. THAT would certainly not make for happy memories.

Sorry your future MIL is that way. Some people just can't be happy for others.
Plan yourself the best honeymoon ever!

It's ok. That is just the way she is. She even griped and fussed that DF went home early on Monday because his boss told him to got he the doctor and not home back to work until he was better. Then she griped and fusses because he took two days off work (doctors orders) and really should not have gone back at all this week. She forced him to go in on Thursday and once again boss sent him home at noon. She will gripe and complain about the wedding no matter where it is. (In part because I am 13 years older than him and I have a kid.) Knowing that this is her way, I do not have to willingly allow her to spoil my happy place at WDW. So it is for the best that we have the wedding at home and then go to WDW for the honeymoon. All is good and I am happy with the love of my life.

Changes mine.

Maybe it's my evil side, but maybe now would be a good time for him to put his foot down and let her know that she doesn't run his life. If nothing else, it will mean a bit more peace in your lives together once you are married. Have your intimate wedding in WDW, just you and your child. If you want to invite your parents, fine. If they decide not to come, their loss. If she's going to gripe and complain about the wedding no matter what, then at least make sure it's the wedding that the two of you want! There is being considerate, and there is being a doormat. Sounds like your FMIL makes a habit of wiping her feet on others' emotions.
Okay off my soapbox, but been there, done that, and got rid of the loser!

My husband and I were married at WDW last August and we also honeymooned there. Going there for our honeymoon was absolutely the best idea! There are so many fun and romantic things to do there. When we went for our engagement trip we stayed at Port Orleans and took the boat to Pleasure Island where we went club hopping. That was incredibly fun!

Best of luck to you, your future MIL sounds like a real pill and control freak. I hope your fiance can get her to back off for your sake!

If I didn't know any better I'd think my MIL was your FMIL

My DH and I did WDW for our honeymoon almost 10 years ago and it was the best decision we made! We had a blast running throught the parks all day and drinking all night at Pleasure Island! with the wedding plans and IMHO, WDW is the best place for a honeymoon.

I think your decision to Honeymoon at WDW is terrific. You and your future Hubby will make a lot of special memories on that vacation and no one will be there to pop your bubble of happiness
