As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Im planning a surprise trip for my kids, Im going to have a day where daddy takes DS and Im going to take DD for the day. Im thinking about taking my DD to the tea at the Grandfloridian has anyone ever been to that? Is it worth it? Because it is expensive, but I thought it might be a very special time for us. Im also thinking that I would take her to the bibbitybobbity boutique. I want this day to be perfect for us. Any input would be appreciated.
Which tea are you referring to? I haven't been to any of them yet (am going to the 'regular' this summer), but I know there is at least 1 special tea for moms and daughters.
How old is your DD? My DD & I had a Mommy/Daughter Day at the Grand Floridian Afternoon Tea while DH & DS went to Kennedy Space Center. My DD was 15 and she really enjoyed it. They brought us the traditional tea sandwiches, but DD didn't like them so they brought her the kids' menu ones. I think there were tuna salad and PB&J which we really appreciated. My DD ordered real tea, but I believe that they have "tea" for younger children (chocolate milk??).
If that's the Tea you're talking about, check Garden View Lounge Afternoon Tea - Grand Floridian for the menu and prices. It can be very reasonably priced or it can be very expensive, depending on how you order.
I was going to do the My Disney Girl Perfectly Princess Tea Party with my dd3 but I just found out the price went up to $250 + tax.
I've never been there before but I heard from many PP members that it was a "Once in a lifetime experience" and that it was well worth the money. I was considering it at $200 but not $250, that's just too much for us.
We settled on the BBB in the castle followed by lunch with Cinderella. I figured that to be about $100-$150, much more affordable for us.

If you don't want to or can't spend the money on the My Disney Girl Perfectly Princess Tea Party you could just do the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian. I never did the expensive party but my dd & I loved the Afternoon Tea at the GF in April and will be doing it again in June. Well maybe I love it more but she does it with me without a complaint.
Well, we did the expensive PErfectly PRincess Tea where you ge tthe doll when my girls were 3 almost 4 years old. Although they had a fun time, I think I could've brought them to a character meal and got the same reaction. You can buy the doll for under $50 in the stores at the resorts if that's something you want. Plus, you only meet Sleeping Beauty. At Akershus you meet 5-6 princesses! I think the little girl needs to be 6-10 to really understand the meaning of the expensive doll and the meal they are getting to get the most out of the price.
That being said, there is another tea party with Alice in Wonderland that is waaaay cheaper, but the moms aren't allowed to go. So if this was a gift that would be an option.
If you wanted to specifically have tea with your daughter I would suggest either the High Tea at the GF in the afternoon, or breakfast in the GF Cafe at the time that the Parasol PArade goes by.
BBB is a GREAT idea! Suggestion #1 - dress her up in her outfit and don't do the most expensive package! Waaaay overpriced. The middle package is nice, but the only extra thing you get for the $10 is your nails painted (and they give you the bottle to bring home) of really cheap nailpolish or plastic nails that literally fall off within the first hour of wearing them. We really like the cheapest package. In October my daughters and I played dress-up before we left for the castle, and painted our nails together (we got to do our toes, too because we were in our hotel room). Then we went to the Castle for the first appointement of the day. The money I saved by getting just the base package paid for half of my visit. Yup, the girls had me get all made up, too. The photo shoot was fabulous! And such a GREAT memory.
How old is your daughter? I'm leaning toward recommending BBB even though we haven't done it -- yet. DD loves Club Libby Lu, so I expect we'll be meeting with a Fairy Godmother next trip.

DH and I did the tea at the GF at the same time, and DD joined us to finish when she was done. Although our server was wonderful about DD being there, and there are kids options on the menu, we got the dirtiest looks from the other folks in the tea room. DD was in her Alice dress, well behaved and (I'm biased here) very cute. But we got glared at. It made me uncomfortable enough that I didn't enjoy the rest of the tea and we left as quickly as we could. It was the only place where I've felt DD wasn't welcome.

I think that stinks that people glared at you for having your dd join you at the end of your tea. It is WDW afterall. In April I had a ressie for 3 but dd's dad went out with our friend and his wife and dd went with us instead so we showed up with 4 instead of 3 and the extra was a 5 yr old. They were fine about it at the tea and no one gave us a hard time for having a 5 yr old at the tea. She wasn't loud like your dd and enjoyed herself as did Karen, Kelsey & myself.
If our experience was an aberration -- and I so hope it was -- then tea with DD at the GF could be such fun. My daughter loves having tea parties here with her friends and I certainly prefer to be served than be the server!
Definitely do it -- we did the standard afternoon tea a couple of years ago and it was well worth it. a nice opportunity to relax without being completely removed from the magic. a highlight of our holiday excursion trip!
Tea at the Garden View Lounge in the GF has become a tradition for us. It is so relaxing. Don't go expecting to get in and out in a hurry, though. It is a time to be pampered and treated like a lady. That being said, you don't have to dress up, but it would be fun to take your daughter to the BBB and then to tea.
