As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have a bit more shopping to do-- easy stuff so I am going to go into the big city ( aka Buffalo) and go to a couple of stores on my favorite street, Elmwood. Since my older son lives in that neighborhood, hes coming with- I can park at his house and we are going to walk and I am sure stop for something to eat along the way. I love shopping along this street at this time of year!!!
Then the usual weekend errand stuff- tomorrow we are suppose to get a big old snow storm so I plan on being cozy warm in my house, wrap gifts, maybe bake and work on Daniels scarf and little stamping project for his GF. I havent really decorated since we arent getting the tree till Nick is home next week so maybe I'll put out the non tree decorations.

We are previewing your snowstorm now. As I speak the white stuff is coming down in picturesque fashion. It looks lovely! BUT - it has just started and we are expected quite a bit more, so my pleasure with it will definitely wane if the neighbor doesn't get his trusty snowblower out this afternoon and clear the drive!
DGD Kathryn spent the night, and she and Mom are still sleeping. Once she's up we are going to work on the TR for our OCTOBER trip (I'm stuck. I really should have taken detailed notes, but was having so much fun I couldn't remember to write things down!)
This afternoon DD Teresa is coming out in the storm to collect DGD, then they are heading downtown to watch "The Nutcracker".
Mom and I are going to stay put in our nice warm house and enjoy watching the birds stuff themselves from the newly filled feeders!

DH and I are just hanging out, still laughing about all of the people who were at the grocery last night "Milk and bread, must buy milk and bread"
Both of the kids are gone, and we'll be collecting them later - Lauren from just down the street (she'll walk or we'll take the tractor down to fetch her), but Kathryn is at mom's - a 45 minute drive in the best of circumstances and she lives at the bottom of a steep, windy hill on a dead on street - I'll be taking the 4 wheel drive, since the "storm" has started.
Then, home and later today I have to force myself and my kids into dress clothes, drive what is normally 45 minutes to my dad's to pickup my step-mother, and then go back into town for the ballet - take step-mom home, then come home. All in the 4-wheel drive!
I need to run out for milk and bread (really!) and then DS is having a friend over. We'll watch a Christmas movie tonight and I'll write a few cards that I've held back from mailing (the great aunt and such that need a personal note inside) and that's it. The shopping, wrapping, etc. are done so now it's just making lists for different meals coming up when the relatives start arriving on Friday.
There are some electronic gifts that the kids want, so I am sending DH out today to buy them. I still haven't finished decorating from last week, but I will today.
I have 2 sisters who have birthdays tomorrow (but are not twins!) and so we will have to drive the 40 minutes to my dad's house for the birthday celebration. I hope the impending storm is more hype than reality.
We are staying in today because of the snow. DH is outside shoveling the driveway now.
We are suppose to go to DH's company Christmas party tonight, but I have a feeling his parents are going to cancel babysitting. They live out in the country and when we get snow like this the county roads are horrible. I think I may send DH to the Christmas party and stay home and watch movies.
We're staying in all weekend (already planned, just enjoying the snow...) I baked the gingerbread house yesterday, so today will be assembly. Have to bake cookies, wrap some gifts, catch up on laundry, and the biggie...FINISH THE CHRISTMAS CARDS!! I am SO behind on those!

Last night we had the begining of weekend Christmas basketball tournament for Shannon (ddage9) and they won (9-2) so we had to be at the gym this morning at 8:30 a.m. for the next game which they won (14-12) and then since they won that game we had to hang around for the semi-final game at 10:15 (which didn't actually start until after 11:00 due to a double overtime game in the semi-final before ours) Shannon's team won again 19-4 so they will play in the tournament championship tomorrow morning at 10:00. I just got home from the games a little while ago and now we are getting ready to go to a Christmas party open house at my Uncle's house. After the game tomorrow night we will finally decorate the Christmas tree that has been up but undecorated for more than a week. My DD comes home from college today for winter break and my younger girls decided they wanted to wait for her to come home before they decorated the tree After that I will hopefull get around to doing my Christmas cards which I have had for more than a week too but have been too busy to do

Hmmm
I must pay bills if I want to keep cable, internet, and cell phones. Since I had surgery (shoulder) I can't clean and do laundry. But DH38, DS17, and DS14 have not gotten the hints about the piles of laundry and dust bunnies that multiply! I feel a tantrum coming on.
Just got back from grocery store for that milk, bread, christmas candy, meat, and $300 worth of other stuff. Storm coming tonight. Log in the fireplace now. I need to shop for DH, but can't drive due to pain meds. DS17 has no license, nor any desire to get. Maybe a girlfriend will come get me. And maybe my house will clean itself.
Well, I think I'll surf somemore and take a nap.
1. begin packing to leave for portland on wed
2. grade the end of semester stuff and get it all posted
3. clean the house!
4. Lots and lots of work reading and writing to do.
5. begin prepping new class material for new university.
I went and did some shopping this morning. Right now I am relaxing for a bit before I go pick up DD at work and go off to do more shopping. I was supposed to go grocery shopping this afternoon, but I forgot, so I guess I will have to squeeze it in tomorrow. Later my mom and I are going to bake some cookies.
