As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Could someone tell me a little more about the Mr Potato Head pieces I hear about. Can you buy the whole thing (body)? I thought some Mickey PH's might be cute. Also, where can you get them? Any info you can give me would be appreciated! Thanks!!!
Yes, you can buy the whole body (and lots of accessories). It's "stuff a box" - you stuff as much into the box as you can for a price (it was $18 the last time we did it but that was a few years ago ). Some words of advice......stuff the body full of parts too, to give you extra room
The have them at Once Upon a Toy at DTD, and in ToonTown at MK. Not sure if they are anywhere else!

If you can find a Potato Head cheap somewhere then buy the main part at home. Then when at Disney put just the parts into the box. Remember to get arms because they are designed to hold things you can get there. The arms are not all the same. I have done this twice with just getting the special parts in the box and came away with so many more than if I had to buy the Potato Head.
Get you Potato Heads ahead of time at home (much cheaper) then as stated "stuff the box" with parts...store in located at Downtown Disney. We love our guys and change their props for the moods or seasons. *** note, you can also order disney parts that you forget to buy or are not in the bins upon return home. I can't remember if it was disneyshopping.com or laughingplacestore.com but one of them has the parts and show the list prices and photos of pieces on their site.
They are still $18. My kids just did them on this trip (October 2007). There are tons of accessories to go with the body. Make sure you fill the body of the potato head as well (I didnt know you could do this until the cast memeber at the register told me and sent me back to do it).
Its as much stuff as you can fit in the box and the box must close. My daughters packed their boxes full.
I also found out that you can buy just the pieces you do not need to get the body. This way if you already have a potato you can load up on all the accessories.

We have done it at the Disney Store and now that we have the head I promised DD that when we get to WDW she can fill up a box just of accessories, she also has another Potato Head so with two she creates such cute set ups....
I know they sell them at Once Upon a Toy in DTD and at Everything Pop in Pop Century. The CM at Once Upon a Toy said they have a much larger selection of parts then they do at Everything Pop, and I think she's right. I have one potato and two boxes of accessories, one from Everything Pop on my 2004 trip and another from World of Disney in NYC the next year. The WoD one has Statue of Liberty crown and torch, subway map, pizza slice w/ Mickey pepperoni, Mickey-shaped pretzel, WoD NYC shopping bag, NYFD firefighters hat, etc. For the other one I have Mickey bar, autograph book, suitcase, Mickey ears, Sorcerer's hat w/ ears, pith helmet (for AK) w/ Mickey ears, Davey Crocket coonskin cap, etc. Plus I have Christmas, Halloween and Easter accessories. For Halloween, he's Dracula w/ fangs, a pumpkin and pointy ears. For Easter, he has rabbit ears, buck teeth, bunny tail and a basket. I saw Mary Poppins' parasol this trip, but didn't get it; now I'm kinds sorry! May have to go check out those websites mentioned.

The potato heads are one of my indulgences...I would also recommend buying the head at walmart. You can get a basic box for 5-6 bucks. Then you can just stuff your box full of accessories. Over our trips we have accumulated 4 boxes full of stuff. It's one of Josh's favorite things to play with!
Not sure if you are close to New York City. At the World of Disney in NYC, they have on the 2nd floor a MPH place where you can do the same thing as in Disney. I believe it is $18 there as well. If you would like me to look, I will be there on friday.

Keep your eyes open at the stores in the parks, as well. They have the stuff a box in Dinoland in the AK. They also have assorted sets of parts for sale - for instance, at the POTC store, I got a set with a parrot, eyepatch, peg leg, pirate hat, etc. for not too expensive (I am thinking $7 or so)?!
My DD (2) absolutely loves her potato head!! We will be buying a box of parts when we go in 2 weeks again!!
Also I'm think that I will purchase a cheaper head before we go and then buy accessories for some of the other little ones in our family for christmas!!
