As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

First let me say thanks for all of ya'lls kind words and support. I let Travis read them and he was very touched. I am going to PM a few of ya'll who said I could. The more information I get the more I know to help him.
Since Thursday, Travis has been on-line looking up as much information as he could and has even got on-line with a college diabetic group!! His Dad and I both talked with him and advised him he would definitely have to change his lifestyle, and he seems ready and willing. We let him go back to school, (on his request), to see if he could handle the schedule of his shots. He seems determined to not let this disease beat him. He's already talked to several of his friends at college and they all want to help in any way they can. His girlfriend is already looking up recipes on line for diabetics. In her words, "Now I can prepare healthy meals for us." He seems surrounded by a very strong support group. When I called this evening to make sure he was okay, his girlfriend told me he had already showed his roommate how to give him a shot if he needed to!! She said she was going to watch tonight. He even officiated a soccer game this evening when he got to Nacogdoches.
You all will never know how much I've appreciated your support. Now I just have to learn to keep my cell phone charged at all times!! I'm taking one breath at a time. Terry and I both believe in Travis and he's a strong willed young man. I think he'll be okay!!!

I'm so pleased he's facing this well. There's an amazing number of folks with Type 1 Diabetes who live perfectly "normal" lives. My daughter's Girl Scout leader has Type 1, and we went to dinner last night as a troop; it was pizza & salad bar, and surprisingly what she was able to eat, by dialing in more insulin to her insulin pump. She even had 3 pieces of "dessert pizza" which was like s'mores... I was amazed at what she was able to eat without issue.
It might be a bit of a challenge at first, but he'll be fine.

once he gets his sugar under control..perhaps the 5 shots a day will back down. If not...they make pumps that he can wear throughout the day that will check and add insulin when necessary. he just has to watch it close..... and take care of his body for a little while.
He will be fine its a big adjustment but he will do it tell him to keep crackers or some other salty snack handy incase the sugar goes too low.....again if he will just plan a bit more he will be able to beat this disease!!!

I am so glad Travis is feeling better about it and staying at school. Since he is taking so many shots, he may be a candidate for a pump, which would make his life much easier. Good luck to him and I hope he's feeling better soon.
It sounds like Travis has a good attitude. That will carry him through this. I know from experience that the diagnosis is upsetting, but once you get over the initial shock it gets better. It also seems like he's got a plan, which is really good, too.
If a pump is an option, it could be a good one. Two people I know have pumps and they swear by them. They both say it's made their lives so much easier. Continued
It is good to hear that he has decided to stay in school!! He will learn hid schedule soon enough and will move through live as normally as he did before.
