As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I feel like a pig ready to slaughter
Since I am still trying to lose weight I try to watch what I eat. This was NOT the weekend for the weight conscience.
Friday I left work early to run some errands. Kevin and I had lunch at Taco Bell. Well apparently that wasn't enough Mexican for us so that night we went to El Tequila's where of course you start with chips and salsa. For dinner I had a beef chimichanga, refried beans with that glorious cheese and mexican rice. Not to mention a few beers. For lunch Saturday I made homemade chili to celebrate cooler weather. Then we went to the Shrimp Festival. I don't do seafood but that doesn't mean I didn't eat. I had a bbq pork chop sandwich, corn dog, cheesecake on a stick covered in chocolate and 7 more beers. Now one would think that was enough but noooooooooo.
We came home where we promptly made nachos.
Come to today. For lunch I made fried chicken, fried potatoes (yes they had bacon grease in with the regular cooking oil) and corn with lots of butter.
Girl, cut yourself some slack and stick to your healthy eating for the rest of the day!! We all (at least I do) go over board every once in a while. I think that is totally OK, as long as you don't do it consistently!! Otherwise the weight will continue to grow instead of coming off! I have lost about 20 pounds since Feb. and I am here to tell you I haven't done it by going without the food I enjoy!! Get out there and take a long walk, or put on an exercise video or go to the gym! You can do it!!

No, I haven't. : Unless you count yesterday for lunch. I was late for my softball games, so I skipped breakfast. When I got home, I was STARVING, so I ate four pieces of cheddar cheese toast, some tortilla chips with salsa and God knows how much Breyers Cookies-n-Cream straight out of the carton (I was watching the America's Next Top Model marathon, so it was hard to keep track). Then for supper I thought I'd be good and split the chicken fettuccini with my date instead of getting the whole thing to myself. Good plan, except that when Mr. Skinny Pants walks through the door with the take-out, he got a pepperoni pizza as a "side." Who gets a pizza as a side??? Men who don't gain weight no matter how much they eat. No matter, I had my share of the pasta, the salad and bread that came with it, and some of his pizza.
I like to argue that I burned off all those extra calories playing ball yesterday, but...I'm not quite sure it adds up. Oh well. Today is a new day.

Yesterday. I felt ready to burst!
We went to the apple orchard, and of course you have to try each variety of apple there - to be sure they are the ones you want (Mollie's Delicious and Melrose are absolutely wonderful!!).
Then, after we drive out of the orchard (I love this place - the orchard is so big, they just let everyone drive into it, and up and down the rows - you can actually pick while you drive, if you want - we get out though) - and park, there is a stand where we can buy all sorts of other stuff, and we all got some home grown grapes to eat, then some elephant ears and some frozen cider (slushie made with cider!).
Came home, and had some of the apples we picked with caramel sauce, and made some apple sauce. ate that.
Then, DH and the kids ordered pizza. I don't eat pizza, so I had a chicken salad sandwich. Then, a bowl of popcorn and a movie.
Very full feeling.
I go through eating and non-eating stages some healthier than others. We are all human, the point is to not beat yourself up about the progress you've made. As long as you get back on your healthy eating plan, who cares that you had the food you did? You have to enjoy yourself and not feel guilty about occasional splurges. Get right back on your plan and don't worry.
I feel your pain Lori. I've been eating like an about-to-hibernate bear lately! I don't know WHAT my problem is, but I went for a 45 minute walk this morning and it helped a teeny tiny bit. I have been on a "I give up" diet lately. DH can eat any garbage he wants in massive quantities and doesn't gain anything. It's so depressing. I am going to try really hard to exercise this week, and then try to eat better AND exercise next week. I don't do well when I change everything at once.
I think everyone at some point has eaten so much they feel sick. Don't know if you are following any particular plan....I joined LA Weightloss in February and I have lost 45 lbs. I still have 25 left to reach goal....It is a pretty easy plan to follow. I still have Starbucks, Mexican dishes, Italian dishes and ice cream. I went clothes shopping with my mom yesterday and fit into a size pant that I haven't fit into in many years. Like everyone said...Today is a new day. You can do...just don't beat yourself up.
Tonya
Just remember that there are 21 meals per week. So you had a little more than normal for a couple of them. Shrug it off, and get back on track. You'll be ok.
We always go out for a late dinner with friends on SUnday night. So today I worked in the back yard hacking out bushes for an hour. Hey if you sweat it is exercise right?

Um, I'm right there with you. I went to Columbus OH to visit a friend this weekend, and it was a bad-food extravaganza. It started with the fact that I forgot my Alli pills that I've been taking. Then we went to a hamburger joint called Thurman's, which is one of the "Best" Hamburger's in the country according to some magazine. It was a phenomenal burger, and a fried food celebration.
Saturday my friend made us homemade pan-friend potatoes with bacon and leftover roasted pepper oils...and he had bought a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Then we ate at Cheesecake Factory for dinner.
Today was more doughnuts for breakfast, and Friday's for dinner.
I'm going to have to do some major backpedaling for the rest of the week...errr....month.
