Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

My dh wants to know...

"how often can you eat?" The dining rotation applies to dinner, right? And the other places to eat--there's pretty much something open most of the day? And then there's room service--did I hear it right that you can get Mickey bars from room service? Any of the other park treats, my dd loved the Minnie bars...

Although they like you to "run along", you can sit down when the dining room opens and gorge yourself until it closes for breakfast and lunch. But it's really easier to graze at the buffet.

Of course, if he does that he won't be in any shape to enjoy the great dinners. We actually tend to eat light for lunch. On port days we'll load up for breakfast, although they tends to slow us down during the day and sometimes we get into that conundrum where we're too full to eat lunch at some wonderful shore restaurant until it gets too close to dinner.

The better question is "when CAN'T you eat?!" The answer to that is NEVER! With room service available 24-hours a day, sustinenance is never far away!

All other food areas, including restaurants, do have hours of operation. The earliest you can get something for breakfast is at 7 AM at Goofy's Galley; the buffet is open from 7:30-10 AM and the restaurants will offer breakfast at 8AM until 9:30 AM(Triton's/Lumiere's) or 11-11:30 AM (Parrot Cay)

Lunch at the buffet is from 12PM to 2PM, Triton's/Lumiere's from 12PM to 1:30PM.

Dinner seating starts the rotational dining times, beginning at 5:30 PM. It isn't necessary to show up early as they don't let anyone in ahead of time so you just end up waiting in a long line. We like to be fashionably-late to dinner and then just walk right in.

The snack areas around the pool open at 11AM and stay open until about 6 or 7 PM. Pinocchio's will reopen around 9:30 PM for late-night munchies until about 12:30AM; Goofy's Galley from 7PM to 11PM.

Munchies can also be found in the lounge/bar areas during late-night activities.

As Dillon said, you may want to take it easy during the day so you can enjoy the many wonderful meals offered. And don't forget to save a night for Palo! Palo night is so much food that I only eat breakfast that day!

My DD 17 LOVES food (and only weighs 100 pounds - life is NOT fair). She ate constantly. Almost every picture of her has her holding food. You will never be hungry.

I think it's fair to say you can pretty much eat all the time, with all the various choices. We tried to keep to breakfast, lunch and dinner with the odd snack, although the temptation is definitely there to gorge all day long!

Just be warned! On our first Disney cruise, my DH gained 6 pounds. that amounts to almost a pound a day!!!!!
On our 2nd cruise he watched himself and still ate well. He proudly said that he only gained 3 punds!!
Enjoy the Western cruise, we loved it.

Let's see...on your first day as soon as you board, you can go to Parrot Cay or Topsiders and start with the buffet lunch. And on your last day when you leave, you get whatever breakfast items you want before you debark. And in between...well, you are really only limited by your appetite!

On our RCI cruise last fall, they had cookies on our bed (suite) that morning when we collected our bags after breakfast. We saw our stateroom attendant as we were walking out and she asked us if we wanted some more.

We watch what we eat, get exercise and have fun. I haven't gained any weight on a cruise since our first one, but I haven't starved.

If you do find yourself eating too much, take the stairs instead of the elevator - really! My DH gained 9 pounds, I gained about 5. We ate everything in sight the first couple days (trying to get our money's worth) and then just decided that was stupid. So we tried to eat lighter, but it was so hard cuz everything was soooo good!!! Take advantage of the gym and stairs!

I am always amazed at the way some people treat buffets. Whether it's Las Vegas or a cruise ship, if seems like they just have to stack a plate with all the food offered. They're not going to turn you away, just go back and get some more. I've actually been bummed out at the amount of wasted food at the buffets, wherever.

There are plenty of food options available for you. For us, it's not the food that puts on a few pounds - it's the drinks so we take the stairs instead of the elevators in the hopes of minimizing any increases.

My DH says you can eat one time, which starts when you step foot on the boat and ends when you step off of the boat!
