Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Caribbean Beach Resort Questions

These questions come to you from DH! (He said to me....."Why don't you ask all of your friends at PassPorter! )

What is the bus route? Where does it start and where does it end? Is it always the same route or does it change based on which park you are going to?

Which island is the best island to stay?

DH you!! (and so do I!! )

The Bus route depends on which entrance the bus uses when coming back from the pick up location. So it can change but they try to go i think clockwise. But which is first and last depends on the entrance used.

I like Aruba and Jamaica Non preferred but still close to OPR and a nice walk in the morning to get coffee and relax before the day starts.

Dyan - The bus routes can change. The last time we were there the route started in Jamaica and then went to Aruba and on around. Jamaica is my favorite island to stay in (if you don't want to pay for a preferred room). It is right across the bridge from Old Port Royale. I the walk across the bridge and the island in the morning. I requested a room near the bridge, but some people prefer to stay near the quiet pool. We had a lovely corner room on the first floor looking out over a beautiful courtyard. It's a great resort! Enjoy planning.

Dyan, when are you going to be @ CBR? I was just wondering as that's where we are going to stay in January-I was stressing too much at getting the Poly paid off in 3 months and right before Christmas-so it's on the burner for when I can take my parents next Christmastime.

I'd love to meet some Passporters on our trip!

I had put up a photo walk on my site - if I stayed there again, I like the Trinidad South area.

Just got back from a stay at CBR last week. First time there, and liked it very much. Stayed in Barbados and had no problems. We were last on the trip back from most parks, but we got off at Old Port Royale and ended each night at the pool bar. We were a five minute walk away, along the lake/pond. Not a problem for us, if you had little ones who like to walk themselves, might be a little far. The bus route did change according to which park you went to. I had a friend there the same time and said it took her over 90minutes to get a bus to Epcot one morning. She said they were the last stop and all the buses were full by the time they got to them. I never had that problem, but I guess if more than one bus goes by full, you could always catch the resort bus and go to another stop.

Good luck. I really thought the resort was beautiful and enjoyed it very much.

I stayed in Barbados both times at CBR and loved it. Short walk to the Centertown, and at the time we were the second bus stop on the way "home" from the parks (after Aruba).

It's been years since we stayed at CBR. Don't remember which buildings we've stayed in, but I DO remember that one visit we were very far from the bus stop! At the end of a Looooooong day that can be a big deal, so maybe you could request a room close to one.

We stayed in Martinique, and I would definitely recommend it. If I ever go back to CBR I would pay extra for a preferred room just to be close to the food court area.

We stayed at CBR in May before moving over to Fort Wilderness. We requested Jamaica 45, we got Trinidad South 38, which is about as far away from the food court and main pool as you can get. Yes, it was very quiet. I don't think we had any neighbors. It was a pain to get to the front desk, food court, and main pool. We were last on the bus route for the parks. We had to wait for at least 30 minutes for a bus to MK. The resort is beautiful, but if we stay there again, I will definitely pay the extra $$ for a preferred location. I think everyone requests Jamaica 45 and that's why it's so hard to get.

I haven't been since 1998, but we stayed at Jamaica. I really enjoyed it. Our room was close to the little bridge that leads to the food court and also one of the beaches and the pool. I can't say much about the bus system as I'm sure it changed, but when we were there, Jamaica was one of the last stops for the bus.

We stayed in Barbados 2 times. Once in '91 and again in '07 , and the bus routes seemed the same. We usually got a tour of all the "islands" before departing for a park, but a few times we were the last ones on and immediately left the resort. Same goes for return trips. We didn't mind the walk to OPR at all, but I can see why people like Martinique and Trinidad North- after walking all day, a 20 minute round trip for a mug refill can be frustrating!

We stayed in Martinique this past February and LOVED it. CBR is my favorite resort.

The bus routes do change. We never had a problem, either time we stayed there, with the buses.

Have a GREAT time!

We really like staying at Trinidad South because of its remote location. It's always been very quiet and peaceful. And there is a great view of the Epcot fireworks from the beach.
