As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Today was beautiful. 82 and a light breeze. Low humidity. You just couldn't ask for anything better.
We went to an outside Antique Show to buy jewelry (for our business) and as I was minding my own business a stinking bee flew up my capri pant leg and STUNG me. Quicker than you can say "WHAT??", I had slapped and killed that thing in my pant leg. He dropped to the ground and a CRUSHED him into ash...ok, maybe not ash, but he was disintegrated pretty well into the pavement.
My husband rushed over after I cried "I've been stung, I've been stung" to see how injured I really was. I tried extra hard not to cry. First off, it ruined my "I've never been stung and I've never broken a bone" story and secondly I felt like I deserved to cry, because darn it, it hurt.
I was purchasing jewelry from a lovely lady that we've spent, well, let's say a LOT of money with in the past and she rushed to get me some ice. My DH kept insisting it was probably "just a sweat bee" and I KNOW that dude was yellow and black, albiet maybe on the smaller side. And I can tell you, when I got home, I looked up sweat bees and they are always black or a metallic color NOT yellow and black...so that's that! My leg proceeded to swell up and hurt like heck. Man it just felt like he kept stinging me over and over.
I guess my husband felt slightly guilty because he did buy me a few pieces of jewelry for ME, one being a turn of the century English gold piece with opals all acrossed the front...hey, I knew that milking it would get me something! LOL
But anyways, now I have a little tiny dot on my leg that itches like CRAZY!! On top of that, my leg is kind of sore there - like all over my calf. I don't remember anyone saying that a bee sting is itchier than a mesquito bite!! I've used Calamine and topical Benedryl. I don't really want to take an antihistamine as it will just drug me up.
Anyways, anyone out there still NEVER stung by a bee?

I have been stung twice My first being at around the age of 30. Both stings when I accidently bothered the bee, once while walking in the grass where it was and the 2nd time I was getting out of a car and when I swung my arm out, I must have swatted at the bee not knowing.
I am not scared of bees though, my grandfather was a beekeeper. I used to let them walk on my hand all the time, still do if I get the chance And no, I have never been stung doing this
I've only been stung once, and it wasn't until I was 21 years old. Sorry you got stung today, it does hurt. (but at least you got some jewelry out of it! )

I haven't been stung in 14 years. The last time - I accidentally ran through a yellow jackets nest. Holy heck! I had huge welts all over my legs and, as it turns out, I had a recently developed bee allergy. I'd never reacted to a beesting before that and I'd had plenty. Fortunately for me, it was a Saturday and I was on my way to a friend's house and his dad was the local Boy Scout Troop Leader (whatever they call them ) and had some pretty useful first aid training. Yay for me!
I can still remember laying on the couch in their living room, watching my legs swell and feeling them throb while we waited for the EMT next door to bring over her EpiPen for me.
I have been terrified of being stung ever since. I think it's made me more careful.
I hope you're feeling okay tonight! Benadryl makes a great (pump-style) spray-on treatment for bug bites. It goes on clear and cool and works instantly. We use it on skeeter bites all the time.
I was stung as a kid, I had slip on shoes and when you walk the side spreads out as you bend your foot. The bee flew in my shoe, I lifted my foot to take another step, he was trapped and he let me have it.....buzzzzzzzz.........I have a pretty high pain threshold, but I was surprised at how much it hurt.

No, and my DD just got her first one, on the face no less. She now states that she is allergic to outside and will not go out. We'll see how long this lasts as I know she will want to go outside and play today.
