As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I prefer to use the 3 ring type albums (12 X 12) for my scrapbooks. I went to Michaels yesterday and our store quit carrying them. I went online at michaels website and couldn't find any, so they must have stopped carrying them. I'm so bummed. I could always get them and the refill pages with my 40% off coupons. I'm so sad. I don't like the post bound type at all. I always need more pages than what comes with them and I don't like taking them all apart and adding the spacers and extenders. Does anyone who uses 3 ring type have a good store to get them and does it take coupons?
Weird....the album I purchased at Disneyland is a three ring album. I can't believe you can't get the pages at Michaels anymore. Have you checked Joanne's, they carry scrapbook stuff. Hobby Lobby as well (if you have one). They often have coupons in their ad in the Sunday paper.

Try JoAnns. And you can use your Michaels coupons there!
Maggie
Our JoAnn's does NOT carry the 3 ring binder type.
I know Archiever's used to carry some lineny looking ones but they were expensive. Lately I've been getting 30% coupons for Archiever's but used it the day before I realized michael's doesn't carry the 3 ring anymore. Hopefully I'll get more with April or May's newsletter. If not, I'm o.k. for a while. Still have one disney album to complete before starting the family albums.
I have used Michael's coupons at JoAnn and I like it better than using JoAnn coupons at Michaels. At our Michaels, they make you sign you name and write "JoAnn's" under a column for what type of coupon you use. I always feel like I'm in trouble...but of course it doesn't stop me, it just irratates me.

That's too bad. Our JoAnns has 2 whole aisles of albums. Although I can't say for sure if they have 3 ring binders because I have never looked closely at them. Is your JoAnns one of those Superstores (or whatever they are called)??
I'll look at what they have at our store the next time I am there.
I was just at Hobby Lobby and they've really changed the scrapbooking section, and what they carry. I don't know if there are not as many people buying albums or not. If you are using the 3 ring binder type, just make sure they are acid free.

I've heard so much about Hobby Lobby, but we don't have any around here...thanks anyway, though!
There is a 3 ring album, not sure how long it has been out, but it totally encloses the pages. It is called a BayBox, I know someone that can get them online (I think!) and our Cord Camera also carrys them, look online for Cord Camera, if you purchase enough stuff in the store you get your card stamped and then get 20.00????? I have to check this amount. I am not sure if there is a way to do that online or not, but if so, the album would be about 18.00. HTH Sara

Why don't you post what brand of album/pages you are looking for and the next time I go around Michaels, I'll pop in and see if they have any left. If so, I'd be happy to mail them to you.

Nope, but that gives me an idea, I think I'll do a search and see if I can find one around here.

15.00 was about what I was paying with Michael's coupon so 18.00 wouldn't be bad but then I'd have to add shipping, so it might get pricey. I'm going to keep looking, but I wrote your info. down in case I run into problems finding one.

Oh Lynda, you're such a sweetie. I'm gonna hold off on your generous offer though and do a little legwork on this end to see if I can come up with something on this end. Those 12 X 12 albums are huge! So if you don't hear from me, no news is good news!
Michelle,
I stopped in Michaels over the weekend. They did have some 3 ring binders on clearance for $12.00. The brand was We R Memory keepers, they had off-white, blue and burgundy binders, but did not have any refill pages left. I noticed on the binders they have a web address: weronthenet.com. Hope this info is helpful to you, and again if you want me to send them to you, I'd be happy to do it.

Yep, I looked this weekend and that's the brand. I will take this weekend to get my research done so I can let you know and I'll check the website, too. I'm pretty certain that the refill pages they carried were not that brand. I'm too lazy right now to run down and look at the brand , but I just know I bought them there because they were cheaper than the ones JoAnn's sells. Thanks again, I really appreciate you checking for me. I'll let you know!
Michelle,
I have NO idea why, but I had a dream about your 3 ring notebooks last night. In my dream someone was showing me these beautiful scrapbooks (completed of course) and they were in 3 ring binders. I thought to myself IN MY DREAM, "Oh these are exactly what Michelle was looking for. I wonder where she got these."
