Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Midwest Scrapbook Convention Indianapolis Trip Report

What: Midwest Scrapbook Convention Indianapolis

Where: Indianapolis Fair Grounds

When: 9/8/06 to 9/9/06

Who: Marcie, Sue, Dawn, Tiff and Sara

Day 1 Friday 9/8/06

Sue and I started the day getting up at 6:30 am.
Our goal was to be out of the house at 7:30 am.

This we managed after being up late removing things from under the bed (no small feat) so Mom could flea spray on Saturday. WE got to the Fair Grounds between 8 and 8:30 am. We got our reregistered ticket packets and went in to see what they had for breakfast. Sue had offered to stop and Mickey D’s but I declined. Bad idea, All’s they had was Fruit, Muffins or Danish. All over priced for what it was. I got the fruit since I really need to eat.

The Vendors opened at 9 am and we start looking around. We decided to wait and buy things later or the next day so we would not have to carry it around the first stop was The Memory Zone Scrapbook Store (QuicKutz) we did a make and take here, the only one). It is at this store we found a QuicKutz die that is sign language for I Love You. She told us she won a contest and designed the Die cut, it had to this since she had a deaf BIL and SIL. We bought it. This is the only store you can get it.

Here is another great tool we pick up It’s called eeeeasystraight journaling tool . This works real well. We now have 3 of them.

After shopping and as we Shopped, We looked for Disney stuff hoping to find something new.

One Vendor was an Outlet place as we headed in I thought I saw someone I knew as I walked by I saw a Passporter pin and stopped And said “Tiff?” She turned and said “Huh? Marcie” She introduced us to Kristen her friend. After that we ran into each other all over the place till about 4pm.
n early lunch we went to our first class.

Wrapped in Ribbon Wrapped in Ribbon
Level of Difficulty: Intermediate Kristen
Using ribbons is the hottest craze in scrapping. Have you seen all the gorgeous ribbons being used on scrapbook pages lately? Do you want to know how to incorporate ribbon in your own layouts? In this class, we'll discuss the many ways that ribbon can be used to enhance your pages and bring focus to a special picture or journaling. You will leave class with a two-page layout ready to add pictures.
Supplies to Bring: Basic Supply Kit plus a mini hole punch
1 Hour - $15.00
Ok this did not work out well. She never discussed how to use ribbon in our pages we threw together the page I had a lot of trouble do it and fell behind since she moved too fast. So I didn’t learn a thing.

We ate again after the class. We only had about a half hour between classes and we knew we wouldn’t have time to eat again. So on to our next class.

Get Creative with QuicKutz!
Level of Difficulty: All Levels of Scrapbooking and Cardmaking
Unleash your creativity! Join us for a class you can't afford to miss. We will be using the die cutting and embossing techniques brought to you by QuicKutz. This class will teach you how to create three stylish personal greeting cards using the QuicKutz system and various techniques. Whether you own a QuicKutz or have been thinking about one, this class is sure to be tons of fun.
Supplies to Bring: Basic Supply Kit
1 1/2 Hours - $18.00
This class was marvelous! She really knew what she was talking about and was very enthusiastic about QuicKuts. We made 3 cards and I didn’t fall behind once.
After the class we shopped till we dropped. We only bought this we thought would be sold out. One thins was a already done layout that said You Make My Heart Sing. It’s a wedding page but I can use it for my Def Leppard book. I just need to take out the poem about kisses and add part to one of their songs. Next was the CSI Crop Party.
C.S.I. Crop Party
Follow the trail that leads to fun. Contrary to how we make ourselves feel- there is no crime to setting aside time for ourselves. Come investigate the C.S.I. Crop, where you will "Create, Socialize & be Inspired". There will be no police chase, fingerprinting or DNA testing. (Warning: Mug shots may be taken. Scrapbookers rarely leave home without their camera!) The mystery is solved. The evidence is definitive - the C.S.I Crop Party is the place to be! Don’t be the “Missing Person” – make your reservation early to secure a seat.
Friday 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. - Cost is $20.00

Sue and I went and got our stuff around 5pm and brought it into the Crop area. We found the only table that had enough room for all 7 of us. It was kitty corner to the door the very last table. I tried calling Tiff to find out where she was and walked the room looking to see if she had found a better table. I could find her. I could get a hold of her on the phone.
So I sat till I finally saw them and Dawn come in and I went over and showed them were we were sitting.I told Tiff I tried calling her and that’s when I found out I had one number wrong and I wasn’t calling her.
I called Sara and told her knowing she was running late. By this time Sue and I were very tired and I had trouble concentrating on layouts. I started with an AKL layout using Eco Africa layout it was already together mostly I just moved some things and add pictures. Sara got there about 7:30pm and they gave away the first prize of the night. You had to look under your chair and find a Free T-Shirt taped on it. Tiff won one.

They then started to call table rows up to hand in tickets and get your freebee Of course we were last. The Freebee: A bunch of stuff that you can use to make Fall Layouts. 2 Magazines.(Don’t ask, I don’t know what they are I didn’t look at them yet.) All they seem to give away at their Drawings were retreats so I am glad I didn’t get one since I would not be able to go anyhow. They did a song game I only got 7 right So no win there and there was a twister game, Ummm I don’t think so.
Sue did some Disney Kits we brought and bought they look very nice. I did a layout we brought for Castaway Cay. It looks great. I also put together a Splash Mt page. 4 in total.
At 10pm Sue and I left since we were so tiered. Sara also left too.

Day2 Saturday 9/9/06
Sue and I slept in our first class wasn’t till 1:30pm. We had a few things to do to get the house ready to be sprayed and then we were off a half hour early. We stopped for breakfast at Mickey D’s and was off again. We got there around 11:30 and finished our shopping. We thought our class started at 1pm so up to the class room we went a half hour early. They were nice and let us in as soon as they had it set up.

Class #3 Kick it Up with Kaleidoscope

Level of Difficulty: Intermediate

Come join us while we “kick it up with Kaleidoscope”. We’ll mix and match colors and patterns from the dazzling Kaleidoscope line by My Mind’s Eye. You will learn to distress using sandpaper, the cool new Heidi Swapp edge distressing tool and Cat’s Eye chalk ink. Then we’ll add some flowers and ribbons to complete these 2 fabulous double page layouts. Each student will receive a Cat’s Eye chalk inkpad and Heidi Swapp edge-distressing tool!
Supplies to Bring: Stapler, Paper Piercer and Pad/Mat
1 Hour - $15.00
(Saturday only)

This was a great class too. I did fall behind but I was able to catch up. They had 2 layouts planed but could only talk us threw one. We learned more about Ribbon then the ribbon class.

We had a half hour between classes again and we had to leave the room but since the next class was in that room we could leave our stuff. We went down and meet up with Tiff, Kristen and Dawn. We had decided to do the last class together.

Class# 4 Vacation Memories

Level of Difficulty: Beginner/Intermediate

Capture those wonderful memories of Disney or your favorite vacation with the latest and greatest products from Close To My Heart!

Supplies to Bring: Black ink pad and 4 photos
1 Hour - $15.00
(Saturday only)

This was by a Close To My Heart consultant. We all sat near each other. Sue and I had sat in the front for the first class but moved to the back to be near them. They girl made a joke about us going form the front of the class to the back.

Tiff and Dawn sat in one row and Sue, Kristen, and I sat behind them. It was a Disney layout and a simple one at that. This was also a good class we are thinking about getting the Disney Stamps they have. I did fall behind but Sue and I were sharing stuff and that didn’t help. I was able to catch up since it was an easy layout.
We all said our good by and left.

We ran into Sara and sat with her a bit and off to get the few last things we need to get and home again. I am tired but very happy with the 2 days of Scrapbooking.

It was nice to see Tiff and Dawn again and nice to meet Kristen.

Tiff took a few pictures at the Crop night and will post them when she can.

Sounds like a great 2 days. Thanks for sharing, makes me want to go to a convention. I haven't been to one in years. It'd be fun to see some of your pages, if you get a chance.
