As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
Mine: August 19th of 2004 (Our last day at WDW) we did alot of park hopping and after getting off of the metro at the MK parking lot we found that bus transportation for the night had ceased. However we needed to get to Epcot where our car was parked. Needless to say the attendants at the station stated there was nothing they could do for us and I was trying really hard to keep my cool while explaining to him that we can't walk to our car from here so what are we to do? what about our kids (5yr old DD and 6yr old nephew)they're very tired right now. One of the gentlemen called their supervisor, while he was on the phone he ws asking me a lot of questions like where we were from our names etc. maybe he was on hold I don't really know and after the attendant spoke with his supervisor he told us to wait down by the first bus stop and we will take care of the rest. After about 10 min of waiting we see a bus with "Johnson family to Epcot" scrolling across the front marquee. I can't tell you how wonderful that made my husband and I feel. My daughter sreamed mommy how does Disney know who we are???!! I said sweetie It's Disney and anything can happen while your here, that's why it's called the Most Magical Place on Earth. My daughter still talks about that night because of how special it made all of us feel.

Wow. These are some of the nicest stories I have ever heard. I needed a pick-me-up today and this has done it.

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
Ok, I have 2 stories..both pretty small in comparison.
Story 1, I was in MGM with my mom and brother and we stopped at the commisary for lunch. I wasn't that hungry as it was a hot day, so I just ordered a chef salad. Mom & bro ordered chicken sandwiches I think. We were told that they didn't have any salads made up but they were working on it, so I could go have a seat and they'd bring it to me. We waited no more than 5 minutes, seriously and when they brought out my salad, they brought me this HUGE piece of chocolate cake! (So much for a light lunch, right?) We were totally blown away and as we were eating (and commenting on the fabulous service) a manager came by and asked how we were doing. When we told him how impressed we were with the service, he had asked who our server was. When I could only partially remember his name, the manager then went and asked the staff member if he had assisted us. The poor kid looked panicked!! It was funny to watch the look turn to relief as the manager explained we were complimenting him, not being critical.
Excellent service story #2, we took 2 of our foster children to Disney about 2 years ago. We only had 2 day passes and my 10 year old son lost his after the first day! So I went down to the desk at our hotel, completely ready to pay for one more day ticket for him, however they were nice enough to give him a comp pass for the day. It was very sweet of them (and I think they saw how much we had charged to our room too!).
Anyway, it's the service like that that keeps us going back and spending the money.

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
A few years ago my friend Bob and I ate at Flying Fish Cafe at Disney's Boardwalk. We had a wonderful meal, and the asparagus soup was particularly fine. We commented on this to Jon, our server. He told us of a wonderful new offering, starting the following night, of a Seven Onion Soup. Well, we had been hoping for an E-Ride Night at Magic Kingdom, so had not made a reservation for that night, and we said that we'd come back. Jon told us he would see to making us a ressie. Well, he came back and said that the computer wouldn't accept it, but that he had spoken with the manager and everything was set up anyway.
When we returned the following evening and checked in at the podium, the manager came over and greeted us, and then escorted us to our table in the side room. The next thing we knew, here came Jon with glasses of sparkling wine, compliments of the manager. While we were sipping, Jon told us that he had gotten a shock at their meeting earlier in the day when the Chef announced that because there was a whole vat of the asparagus soup left, there'd be no onion soup tonight! Jon explained to the Chef that he had two guests returning for dinner this evening especially to sample the soup, so the Chef agreed to make it only for us! After the soup, Jon brought us sorbet to cleanse our palates, and during dessert, he brought us complimentary liqueurs. It was a very special meal.

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
What a wonderful experience! Lots of little things happened for us while we were on our honeymoon. First off, on our very first day at the parks it didn't occur to us that we had to pay for parking. We pulled up at the toll booth and the guy asked for money...which we didn't have. We asked what we could do...I mean there were people lined up behind us - we couldn't exactly just turn around. The CM just smiled really big and said "Have a magical day!" and let us through. What a great way to start the trip!
Later on that trip we were walking throught ToonTown towards the train and a conductor came up and asked us to please wait for her near the rear of the train. We did so and she let us on to the back of the train, asked if we had a video camera and proceeded to record us while she introduced us to the everyone on the train then let us push all the buttons and say "All aboard!" It was really super cool!

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
Probably our best customer service related story is from several years ago, probably one of Carly's first trips. I lost a roll of film (before I read on here about putting your name on everyting ) and didn't realize it until we were home and the other film was developed. I called Disney Lost & Found and the cast member asked where I thought I lost it -- I figured it had to be at Crystal Palace or Cindy's. She looked through the film, apparently cast members mark where film is found, and she had three rolls that it could be. She mailed them all to me and I got them developed. I started yelling in the store when one of the rolls ended up being mine. I mailed the other pictures back to Lost and Found.

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
What great stories!
On the last trip we took my father on was the year of the dreadful Pink Birthday Cake Castle at MK and travelling with my father is not fun to begin with and he was ruining the magic. Well all my mom wanted to do was meet the Beast. He is her favorite character. I found out that he was making appearances at EPCOT in France and we waited 2 hours until one of the times listed and Only Belle came out. well I was so bummed because my mom really was losing magic due to Mr. Grumpy Pants and Magic ruiner! Well a supervisor was out to maybe review Belle and noticed that we weren't as happy to be there as some would be. He came over and asked whats going on and my mom and I explained her love for the Beast, the fact that this trip was less then magical for us, and had waited 2 hours but understood that the Beast was needed at his castle. Well the supervisor asked all kinds of questions. Figured out we were at Ft. Wilderness camping our site number and our departure date. We were leaving in 2 days and wouldn't be back to EPCOT.
Well we went back to the campsite after the long day around 10 and on our camper was an envelope to go to Guest Services for a message. So i went up and it was from the EPCOT guy telling us that if we can be at EPCOT at 11am at World Showcase he had a friend wanting to meet us. Well we went and they put Beast and Belle on the Character Bus and when it parked Beast and Belle nodded and walked right to us lead us to a private section in front of the store and we had about 15 minutes to ourselves with Belle and Beast taking pictures, autographs you name it. All we wanted was 2 minutes with him and he made my mom and I feel like we were royalty.
supervisor, Beast and Belle!
We now leave Grumpy Pants home and the Magic is in full force!

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
I love everyone's stories!
I've always run into very nice, friendly Cast Members. I love when they take a minute or two to talk to you like they've known you for years. You get the best stories.
On my honeymoon, we had Bride and Groom T shirts and we were congratulated all day. We got a congratulations card from the cast of Boma. We got a free frisbee from Sci Fi. When I got my Guest of Honor Badge, everyone in China (Epcot) called me "Jenny-fur"
I miss WDW. I wanna go back so bad!

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
I remember one CM who was older gentleman in particular who worked in the lobby of AKL. It was our first stay at a deluxe hotel and we were very excited to be there. DS was about 5 then. We had just come off the Disney cruise and were a little tired.
DH was checking in and the CM came up to DS and I. He asked if we had been to AKL before. We told him no and told him about our cruise. He asked a lot of questions about our trip and previous trips. He then told us all about AKL and what he thought DS would enjoy there. He talked to DS a lot and made him feel super special! We spent a good 20 minutes with him. He made DS and I feel so welcome there. Every time I think of AKL, I think of him.

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
my story isn't as good as some of the others. But it was a hot day, we went on a ride and then didn't realize til we got on the next ride that we had left our squeeze breeze behind, we were bummed and not looking forward to the day without it and didn't want to buy another one.
So we went to lost and found and explained that we left it behind and asked if they had found it. the CM went into the back room and came out with a brand new one, handed it to us and said have a nice day. AWESOME we were so appreciative.

Two summers ago a CM came up to my DD in Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in MK and asked her decorate the store tree. In return she received a certificate and an exclusive ornament. She still wonders when she'll get to decorate that tree again.

Re: What\'s you best experience with Disney customer service?
These are all great stories.
Our story happened on our last trip in March. One of my daughters has had a blue Disney hat that her Grandpa had bought for her 4 years ago. It was sun faded, had a few character sigs on it and a lot of memories as she has brought it to DisneyWorld on each of our many vacations. Well, we misplaced it somewhere at MK. My daughter was heartbroken. I just knew we wouldn't find it and dreaded the call to Lost and Found for the finality of knowing it was lost. It was something simply irreplacable.
Well, I called and low and behold they had that old hat! We drove to Lost and Found and my daugher and I were both crying as we thanked them profusely for their organized system. I still don't know how they can keep track of so many things!
