As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Been there a couple of times and really enjoyed it.
Adventurers Club (There is a good review on that link)
As far as I know, all you need is your Pleasure Island admission ticket to get into any of the clubs on the island. (as long as there is room, you are in )

You can go to one of the ticket windows at Pleasure Island and buy your ticket that night, if you want. No advance purchase necessary! (now I sound like a commercial! ) I am not positive if it has changed or not, but a Single Club ticket is not valid for the AC or Comedy Warehouse, so you have to get a multi-club ticket for that. (but you do get an AP discount! )
I LOVE the Adventurer's Club! I have to thank many PassPorters for getting me into it at Christmas time when we all went!!! Some of the humor is a bit raunchy, but for the most part the acts/skits and players really are HILARIOUS!
You basically can go from room to room and see different shows . . . although when we went last, we went to only the library shows and that was just fine for us!
And if you drink, there's lots of tasty beverages for you to partake of . . . But do be sure to sit at the bar!

Re: Anybody been to the Adventurer\'s Club?
Sarah covered the tickets and that link that Debbie provided sums it up about as well as written words probably can. In a nutshell, it is an interactive, highly entertaining, belly-laughing place to spend an evening. And plan to spend the whole evening there because the next show will be different from the one you've just seen. It's hard to describe, but it's a place that I have to go to at least once every trip. Don't be shy and play along! I was chosen to play a major role in one of the Library shows, and although I was initially mortified at having to go up on the stage (you are NOT given the option to opt out ), it was all good fun and I have wonderful memories of it and a really cool Adventurer's Club participant pin that they gave me, to boot! At a different visit, Dan was wearing a Fred Flintstones shirt that attracted all sorts of attention and he ended up playing a major role in a show, and he too was rewarded with one of those cool AC pins.
If you go in to AC and nothing is happening, grab a drink and take the opportunity to soak in all the sight gags and "artifacts" in the main room. They usually have a character come in and keep you entertained while you're waiting for the next show to start and that one-on-one time is terrific. Try to talk about modern things (ie computers, cell phones) with them - they're so in character with the '30s that they come up with some outrageously funny stuff!

Re: Anybody been to the Adventurer\'s Club?
If you have Premium Park Hooper tickets, that will get you into all of DTD. The club is like the Gentlemans Club you see in the movie "Around the World in 80 Days" but this one has some unique Lady characters in it also.
Personally I like the show in the Library, and my favorite character is Fingers the haunted piano. The piano has been setup to look like it fell through the upper floor and was busted up when it crashed on to the stage and they left it there and it still plays songs "because its haunted".

Re: Anybody been to the Adventurer\'s Club?
The Adventurers Club is one of my fave places at WDW. It's unique - truly one of a kind. Once I land there, that's usually where I stay because I just can't tear myself away.

I've seen lots of children here and there's really nothing that occurs here that an eleven-year-old couldn't see. Some of the jokes may sail right over her head. I recommend going early as soon as the place opens as there are usually more children present then and the CMs perform accordingly.

Re: Anybody been to the Adventurer\'s Club?
We're a couple of the few that don't care for the Adventurer's club -- the time we went it was
a - pretty expensive since we had to get the "full" tickets
b - the show we saw was very raunchy - more crude than funny
c - the service was very poor in the main room and the trophy room (the two places we were anyway) we could not get a server to take our order, and the bar was full as well and Thomas could not get anyone's attention there either.
So, we only spent about 30 minutes there - and were very underwhelmed. I think it was just a bad night -- and the combination of the above points were what did us in. With the right crowd - I might give it another go - maybe - but I don't think I will ever be able to convince Thomas to give it another try.

I was mortified that I took my 17yo last December. I was mortified that I took *myself* last December. The shows were really trashy and I had to keep reminding people (men) that DD was still jail-bait. The first time I went it was clever and Monty Pythonian, but this last time, never again. It basically turned into a strip show and none of the "characters" did anything to tone it down. People left and we should have, but we were stuck and couldn't get out.

Remember the Adventurer's Club is a bar. No matter how good the entertainment is, a bar is no place for an 11 year old, IMO.
I personally love the place, we stayed all night until they closed and had a wonderful time. But that was 2001. I hope they didn't change the shows to be more "raunchy," that would be so disappointing!
