As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok, brand new month and I am definatly going to try and do better this month. Last month was just horendous (sp). Though today I do need to go purchase an external harddrive so I can transfer my pics from my old laptop to my new laptop.
I also have a trip to our favorite place in the world, WDW So yeah, not much budget there.
Bring it on! Inexpensive August was anything but, I am ready for a new month. I am only hoping it stays warm so that I don't have to deal with fuel costs for another month. Plus we have a vacation coming the end of the month, but hopefully that can stay under or at budget.
I ended August with a $0 day. I am back on track with my weekely budget and stocked up on food for the month. This week, the kitten (who is now 6 months old ) goes to be neutered, but I actually have CASH set aside for that! I also need 2 gifts, have cash for those, too.
Total debt reduction for August was $1790, but I had to write a check out of my home equity LOC for $500, so the net was only $1290.
September won't exactly be cheap as tuition is due for school. However I am hoping to save money in other ways, so hopefully I can "spend less in September."
Today should be a $0 day as I have to work tonight, and I am going to continue bringing lunches from home for work.
Have a great holiday everyone, and good luck with September!
I'm up for September's challenge! I need to put money aside for our trip special meals, pay off my ticket and put $500.00 away.....Let's hope I can keep the oil man away for another 30 days, and stay away from Walmart. I don't know what it is about that store. I go in needing a bottle of Asprin and come out an hour and a half later spending well over $100.00. If I need asprin, I'll send DH as he can get in and out with just the one thing!
Ok, this month I WILL spend LESS!! I will also exercise more and eat less. That's a lot to do in one month, but I think I GAINED 10 lbs recently instead of losing them, so I have to lose weight!! I'm hoping that the spend less philosophy will lend a hand, b/c if we eat more at home/take lunches to work then theoretically I should lose a little weight. Anything that cuts out some fast food from my diet should help! Today's plan doesn't include too much spending. We have some homework and chores to get done, and we do have to go to Home Depot, but 1/2 of what I need there I can get reimbursed for at work. We might do lunch out, but I've been very concious of what I spend/how I spend my $$ when eating out lately.
Good luck everyone!! I know I'll need it!!

Looking forward to another Christmas with The Mouse!!
$13 at McDonald's for breakfast for DS and I. $5.57 at Walmart for supplies for a school project DS has to do.
Planning on spending the rest of the day at home watching tennis!
I, too, am glad to see August go. That WDW trip was WAY more than I'd planned (feeding 2-3 extra bodies was not in the budget). We have one more 11 day trip this month, but we are making it a mission to EAT CHEAP. I'll be buying a hot plate and taking along my electric kettle along with a cooler and kid-friendly, road trip/picnic foods. I'm also going to be keeping my fingers crossed that these 2 shows are gangbusters and clear out my stock so I don't have to do anymore shows this year.

Totally blew all the August savings last week. We bought an electric heater to try to save on the oil bill this year, not in the budget, but hopefully it will be worth it. Went to a fair yesterday and managed to spend about $100 in 3 hours, but it was our last hurrah before school starts tomorrow.
I don't have a lot to buy in September except a few last minute school supplies and we are buying a digital thermometer next weekend too. Our only splurge this month will be for our anniversary at the end of the month.
August was actually a pretty good month for me - much better than July! I had less unexpected or special things, and put more money than usual in my savings! I ended it yesterday with $5.25 on beer when we went out to a bar with some friends - it was a fantastic night, so very, very worth it!
September is going to be weird. I really need a few new things for work (still searching for a new pair of black flats, and I need some new tops that can take me into fall and winter...I've lost a few lbs. and some of my old clothes just don't fit anymore). I'm hosting a bridal shower for my cousin on October 4, so a lot of the expense for it will probably come out of September's budget (tent rental...food...invitations and postage...). My camera got ruined last week when the cap came off my bottle water in my bag. I've only been without it for a few days, but I miss it so much - I'm sick that I didn't have it last night when I was out with my friends - missed so many good photo ops! So I will be getting a new one once I do some research. It was over 3 years old, and I had been thinking of getting a new one sometime, but just not NOW. It's also the birthday-month for my dad.
Also, next Monday is the start of busy-travel season for me (it until mid-November-ish). This can be a good and bad thing. On one hand, all my expenses are covered - and I should even come out ahead in some instances - the per diem $$ I get reimbursed for meals is usually more than I spend, and if there is no state car availalbe, I get $ for mileage which is more than the cost of gas (they put extra for wear-and-tear). However, all this comes to me AFTER the trip, which means I have to be careful to make sure what goes out comes back in. And, it seems like when I'm traveling, I'll get bored during my down-time and shop around or buy things I normally wouldn't (hello, trail mix from the airport bookstore...).
I'm just going to be careful to keep my expenses down as much as I can, track everything carefully and see if I can't put a few more dollars in my savings!
$0 today! Went to delicious cookout that was freeeee....I was the only girl there and I went over last night to help the boys prep everything, so they wouldn't take my money for the kitty.
Balance is due on DW vacation on the 10th so I have to say that Sept. will not be frugal. In addition, just ordered 6 cords of firewood at $150/cord which will be delivered in the weeks to come. September will not be cheap.
I'm in for this one even though we do have a trip coming up. We already saved the money for Disney saved up but I would like to save even more. There are so many things that I need to cut back on. Also exercise more and eat better is in with this one to.
I kept a folder with all our spendings for last month so its going to be great to compare this month with last month.
Ok, so off to a bad start so far. Spent $36. in Best buy for a flash drive. I am in need of one to transfer my pictures from one laptop to my new one. Then spend another $38 in Target. I got the Nightmare Before Christmas 2 DVD set, some black socks for work, new contact lense case, since my old one was getting kinda yucky. and some granola bars.
Then on the way home stopped at this new restaurant that has a lot of healthy choices called U Grill. I have been wanting to try it and it was very yummy. Ended up spending $15. in there.
Oh, and $1.39 in CVS for a bottled water to drink on the way to the mall. I had walked to Best Buy and TArget to get some excersise in.
