As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I booked Delta for a non-stop leaving Boston in August. I was to arrive in Orlando at 6 PM. It was the only one that was direct at a time that I preferred. The choices were either get in to Orlando at midnight..or get up at 3 am..so I went with this one that left at 3 pm. I've been reading on this board about how they are notorious for changing or cancelling flights, etc. Today I decided to call just to check on my flight as I no longer saw it listed online. I tried all day and couldn't get through...either dead air after dialing, or busy signal, or got through but got cut off..I just gave up. I checked my email late afternoon and sure enough..there it was..an email informing me that my flight was cancelled and I was put on another flight with a connection in Atlanta...which had me arriving at 8:30 PM, which wouldn't work for me at all as I wanted to get to EPCOT by that time for EMH at midnight.
I called them and finally got through and let them know I wasn't happy with this change. The reservationist said that my only other choice was to choose a direct flight leaving at 7 am (what I was trying to avoid to begin with), which means getting up at 3:30 am...and have a towncar pick us up at 4:30 am to take us into Boston. I had no choice if we wanted to do the direct flight.. so we chose this one. It was a good thing that I got through to them when I did, because we got the last 4 seats that were somewhat together (in two's), and leaving only 2 stray scattered seats left in the entire coach section.
I guess the one way to look at this is that we'll have more time to spend in Epcot on our arrival day (we land at 10:15 am). I'm just not looking forward to getting up at 3:30 am...maybe I just won't go to sleep that night ???!!!
Sorry to hear that your flight got changed . We've done the 3:30 am pick-up to get to Logan too. The good part is getting to WDW several hours earlier! Enjoy your extra time in the parks!
Could it maybe be an option to get a hotel room right near the airport to avoid the extra early wake up? It might not change much but for a 7 AM flight when I am staying at an airport property, I generally get up at 5. It is only 1-2 hours of sleep but might be worth it!

I vote for the stay near the airport option! Hopefully you'll be able to get 5 hrs sleep in if you hit the sack at 10:00pm! You can tell I've thought of this, cause we have a 6:00 AM flight and are staying near the airport, but have to be at airport 2 hrs pre flight time, so have to leave at 4:00 AM Which means I have to get up at 3 AM
Sorry about Delta. I flew them a few years ago, and thought never again, but last year they had a fare I coudn't refuse. And I was happy with them. Thought maybe they had improved. No flight changes, flights on time, no lost luggage!

Sorry about your Delta problems. I had them do the same to us --- twice.
Because we live on the West Coast, our choices are limited, and I do prefer getting that 6AM flight, even though it means waking up at 2AM, ( I am a night owl, usually don't go to bed until 2AM) and the limo picking us up at 3AM, at least we arrive at WDW at a halfway decent time, usually around 5PM.
Sorry about that! I am a early departing fan myself, I have been bumped from too many flights and learned the hard way. In Jan, I flew Delta (out of our TINY airport), we boarded the plane and then just sat there, then of course the pilot came on and said we were having technical problems. The flight was cancelled and all the other delta flights that day were booked. We got put on US Air (first class!!! WOO HOO!) and ended up loosing 4 hours. :-( Of course, if that had been a 1:00 flight, well.....you can guess. Even later.... So just think of it as getting more bang for your buck! Pixies that you won't have any more changes!!!

Well..so far everyone is opting to wake in the wee morning hours, so looks like we'll be getting picked up at the house by the towncar at 4:30 am. We're about a 1/2 hour to 45 min. drive to Logan Airport in Boston. We all decided we'll just sleep on the plane. However, I'm the one who usually cannot fall asleep...as I'll be too excited knowing I'm on my way to Disney!!!!
